V. The Surname Rizal
In 1731, Domingo Lameo, he was assumed Mercado as their surname because
he was a Merchant (“market” in Spanish).
The surname Rizal was adopted in 1731.
It was given by a Spanish alcalde mayor of Laguna.
It means a field where wheat, cut while still green, sprouts again (Ambassador
Leon Ma. Guerrero).
