OverDrive Read is a new in-browser eBook reader. It
works just like any eBook reading app, except you
don’t need to activate or install extra software.
o All you need is a computer, tablet, or
mobile device with a modern web
browser.
o Your eBooks are stored in the cloud,
which means you can read across a
number of different devices and your
eBooks will sync so that you don‟t
lose your place.

17. Should libraries offer eBooks?
o The answer is a resounding “yes”!
o The service has raised the library profile in the local area.
o New users include many people who had previously thought that the library
had nothing to offer.
o It appeals to younger members – and our eBook Twilight series can‟t
be lost / stolen or soaked in the bath!
o It is socially and geographically inclusive – nursing homes, the visually-
impaired and includes those that even the mobile library doesn‟t reach!

Much talk of the “death of the printed book”.
More books than ever are being published in paper
form.
With the ever-increasing number of eBooks being
published, it adds up to more words being written,
published and read than ever before.

We are all in a 24 / 7 virtual information age.
Libraries are vital for bridging the IT divide.
