2. The Rubbish Audit
In Term 2 Room 17 had a rubbish audit in our classroom. We did
an audit to see how good we were at Reduce, Reuse, and
Recycling.
First our class got all the rubbish and recycling for one whole
week in the classroom and laid it out on a few pieces of
newspaper that were on the floor. Next we sorted out the
different types of rubbish.
We set out the different types of rubbish into groups with labels.
We kept the compostable paper away from the recyclable paper
because the compostable paper would go into the worm bin and
the recyclable paper would go to the paper recycling bins. Once
it was sorted we were ready to go around the school for the
rubbish audit.
3. Going To The Bins
We went around to the bins.
We put the correct waste in the right bin.
When we finished we had very few pieces of
rubbish left.
4. Worm Bin
We gave the worms our
food scraps and
compostable paper.
Worms don’t like citrus
or kiwi fruit.
5. Recyclable Paper
We put the recyclable
paper in these bins. No
paper with snot goes
in these bins.
6. Recycling
We put a yogurt pot, and
a recyclable drink bottle
in this well seen recycling
bin. It is for
plastics, glass and tins.
7. The Rubbish Bins
We put all of the
rubbish in these
bins, including pencil
sharpening. All of
this rubbish goes to
the landfill.
8. The Rest Of
The
Rubbish
After the rubbish audit
we didn’t have much
rubbish left so I guess
that means that Room
17 is good at
Reducing, Reusing, and
Recycling.
