This document summarizes the status of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) in Liberia. SRI is important for post-war recovery efforts focused on increasing rice production. SRI is being practiced mainly in lowland areas, with annual increases in production but small overall yields of 0.5-1.5 tons per hectare. SRI shows promising results with less demand for inputs and higher yields than standard practices. However, constraints include limited information, experience and farmer organization involvement in SRI. The workshop aims to help Liberia learn from other countries' experiences to improve SRI adoption and yields to help meet food security goals.
