This document provides guidelines for referencing archival documents from the State Records Office of Western Australia. It outlines the key elements that should be included in a reference such as a description of the item, the aggregate or collection it belongs to, and the name and location of the repository. Examples are given of references in footnote, in-text, and bibliography styles based on the Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, and Harvard styles. Tools for creating references such as Zotero, EndNote, and ProCite are also listed.
