6. Tornado Sirens
Tornado sirens alert people when a
tornado is close. They are extremely
important at night when people are
sleeping.

8. Look for: dark, greenish sky; low, rotating
clouds; large hail
Listen for: loud roar
Take shelter in cellar or basement if
available. If not, then seek shelter in
lowest part of building in a small, interior
room.
Cover head and neck.
*Flying debris cause the most injuries &
fatalities!

Prepare an emergency kit with food,
water & first aid
Know evacuation routes and evacuate
when instructed
Secure all outdoor belongings
Cover windows with shutters or boards
(tape does not work!)
Stay indoors during storm
10. Floods
Know if you are in a flood zone; evacuate
when instructed
Construct barriers with sand bags if time
Elevate electrical items
Seek higher ground
Do NOT walk through water
Do NOT drive through water
11. Sun Protection
Wear sunscreen; reapply often
Wear sunglasses
Drink plenty of water
Take shelter when possible
