46 ABSOLUTE BRIDAL
Alexandra Tucker, 32, married
Lloyd De’Cort, 35, at Dove
Barn, Suffolk, on Saturday, 20th
September, 2014. They loved the
idea of a rustic setting in beautiful
surroundings and fell in love with
their venue on first sight.
We met through mutual friends
in February 2009. We were both
celebrating our birthdays. There was an instant
attraction. I thought he was so handsome and had
an air of mystery around him! He also made me
laugh and made me feel instantly at ease. I think
Lloyd wished me a happy birthday and brought
me a drink!
We got engaged at the Lifehouse Spa in
Thorpe Le Soken. We wanted to get married
fairly quickly. We loved the idea of a rustic venue
set in beautiful surroundings. When we did our
research and found Dove Barn. Once we viewed it,
we fell in love!
It is an amazing, unique venue. They let
us create our own vision. They had the most
amazing wedding planner (Jayson from the
Wedding Workshop). I loved the fact they had
the intimate ceremony barn for the nuptials/
formalities and then through the doors was the
party room and white space. They also had a
terrace, a meadow, a manor house and the farm
setting – we just loved everything about it!
I purchased the dress from Serenity Brides,
Colchester. I always knew I wanted something
different; figure hugging, glamorous with a wow
factor. I had it tailored to fit me like a glove and
I do“ ”

SPRING/SUMMER 2015
added the applique on the bust for some modesty!
We found the most amazing florist, Clare Luke
from the Traditional Vintage Flower Company.
We wanted a romantic, vintage theme and the flowers
to set the tone for the day but not overpower the
look and feel of the barn. Clare literally thought of
everything and we were over the moon with her and
her team.
We had a showstopper for our cake! It was a
3ft, five-tier, four-stone cake and it tasted as good as
it looked. The cake looked stunning. We had a
birdcage with doves on top as a nod to the
wonderful dove barn.
One of the highlights was saying our vows
in front of our closest family and friends and
we wanted our guests to have an amazing time. We
planned every part of our day with our guests in
mind, whilst making sure we stayed true to ourselves.
My sisters Charlotte Leonard and Rachael Frost were
bridesmaids and Lloyd’s brother is Josh De’Cort was
best man.
We wanted a real party vibe for the evening.
We had a great four-piece band who had everyone
dancing from 8pm onwards. We had a great sweetie
table, drinks were flowing, celebrity masks and fancy
dress props! We finished the evening with pizzas,
which went down a storm!
48 ABSOLUTE BRIDAL
It was better than either of us could
have ever hoped. It is important to take
moments throughout the day to try and soak
up the atmosphere and the immense feeling of
love. However, having a fab photographer and
videographer made the world of difference. It was
wonderful to see everything after the day.
Our tips for other couples who are getting
married would be that they work out a
rough budget. Make your wedding personal to
you. Research your suppliers and don’t be afraid to
negotiate, ask for discounts. Spend your
money wisely.
If I could change anything, I would have
the day again in slow motion! I loved every
single part of the planning, the week before, the
night before with my friends and family and the
day after when we all got together for lunch.
They are magical memories.
