4. Agriculture in India: status in the world
•India has the second biggest population in the world .
•India has a wider consumer base
India is the,
World’s largest producer of milk, jute and pulses
World's second largest cattle population with 175 million animals
World’s second largest producer of rice, wheat, sugarcane, cotton etc
World’s second largest fruit and vegetable producer
World’s second largest producer and also consumer of silk in the world
World's third largest fishing industry
These are the outcome of priority given to
Agriculture in our Five years plans
5. What are the priorities before India?
What is the way out?
• For this, India need to work simultaneously on both
Quantity and Quality
in the process of Massive and Intense expansion of base
of Higher education embedded with research as an
essential factor. But, how???
• That itself is a challenge… Think +ve
But India is heading towards it.
6. •WHY……the people are migrating
from rural area to urban?
RIGHT MAN IS NOT HAVING A
RIGHT JOB
7. DEDICATE YOUR LIFE FOR
HIGHER PURPOSE
TO ACHIVE IN AGRICULTURE
WHAT I WILL BE EXPEREINCED
IF I AM AN AGRIEDUCATED
INDIAN AGRICULTURE
WILL BE OUR FUTURE
8. “Agriculture can be turned as driving force in
Indian economy”
………….But we need to know its shortcomings
and think to address them
9. 1. Slow agricultural growth where two-thirds of India’s people depend on rural
employment for a living.
2. Current agricultural practices are neither economically profitable nor environmentally
sustainable
3. India's yields for many agricultural commodities are 30% to 50% than the maximum
global average
4. Poorly maintained irrigation systems and lower efficiency in using available water
resources. Scientific cultivation is not happening
5. Inertia of Indian agriculturists for adoption of modern technology
To Turn Agriculture as a driving force in
Indian economy
We need to know …realities and work on them
10. 6. Lack of good extension services and marketing knowledge
7. Poor roads, market infrastructure, middle man’s exploitation, excessive
regulation.
8. No match between Growth in agriculture produce and population
9. The low productivity and lack of efficiency due to large agricultural
subsidies
10. Inefficient Public Distribution System adds inflation and increases burden on
Indian economy
14. My Suggestions……...
•Youth should take part in making NGOs for the
development of agriculture.
•Government should develop agricultural industry
in villages for better employment chances for
Rural Youth and Agric production
•Youth should fully concentrate on their study.
•Highly educated peoples should stay in their
villages and should not migrate to cities.
15. •Government promote positive activities so that youth should not
involve in bad activities.
•Rural youth should help their parents in agricultural activities and take
interest in getting more agricultural knowledge
•Government should start still more various developmental
programmes for the betterment of Rural Youth.
•Technical and vocational agri institutes should be established in
villages for the training of Rural Youth.
•There should be good transport facilities for Youth so they go easily to
educational/vocational institutes which are far from villages
16. Let us have small talk,
• smart, confident and focused
• which we can “Walk the Talk”
