2. Film & Trailer
Our unique selling point is that we have a
strong female lead character. The tagline ‘The
infection is coming’. This tagline immediately
intrigues the audience of the storyline of our
film.
Key features of our film that will appeal to
audience members are; a strong female
protagonist and a post-apocalyptic world. In
our trailer we use slow motion, and fitting
music that would appeal to our target
audience and draw them into our film.
3. Target Audience
Our target audience are 15-30 year olds who are
interested in films that make them think. We have
not specified a certain gender, however, I think that
girls between 15-20 would prefer the film, but boys
between 21-30 would prefer it. These audience
members would be very active on social medias and
also on film review websites and film festivals. We
gave our film a 15 certification as we felt that there
would be a certain level of violence but we also
wanted to keep it to a wide audience, as sometimes
18s are too niche. We will attract a wide audience by
being active on social media and participating in film
festivals. After showcasing our film in film festivals,
we would release our film to a selection of cinemas
that we feel would be appropriate. We would release
during the summer of 2015. releasing our film during
he summer means that we will have a lot of people
more available to watch our film as it’s the holidays.
4. Film Poster
Our film poster helps promote our film by teasing the audience with a
hint of what our storyline is. Along with the trailer, the audience is
able to have a good idea of what our film is about and the type of
audience we are trying to attract. The main image attracts the
audience because it only partly reveals what our protagonist looks
like. Through my research of film posters, I have found that not
revealing too much intrigues the audience to look more into the film,
and watch our trailer. The use of our slogan helps show some of the
narrative but it also raises questions about the storyline in which to
intrigue the audience. The genre is also established through our
tagline. The word infection indicates that is either an apocalyptic or
post-apocalyptic film. It is a very dark layout that shows the theme
and genre of our film, but also appeals to our TMA. We will place our
posters at bus stops and on billboards on buildings. We feel that these
two places will attract the right audience for us because it is not a
place where under 15s would be. Both of these places will be seen
mostly by people who are traveling to either work or school. So they
will most likely be off during the summer, when our film is to be
released.
5. Film Magazine
The purpose of the magazine in our promotion, is that it
enables us to reach a wider audience. It will also be able
to show the audience that the film is recommended
because it is being showcased on a popular magazine. The
film cover manages to promote our film by showing it to an
audience that might not have been reached by our other
means of promotion; posters and social media. The image
on our magazine clearly portrays our genre and theme of
our film by the dark lighting that was used. Also the
background gives a clear portrayal of the dystopian genre.
By using our protagonist on the front cover we are showing
our USP – a strong woman lead role. The use of bold fonts
and bright colours would make the magazine stand out in
front of other magazines in a shop.
