INTRODUCTION
 When creating a social media marketing plan, it is
vital to create realistic goals and benchmarks.
 Keep in mind that it can be easy to get carried away
and set too ambitious of a goal.
 For example, some businesses believe that it is
necessary to have a large number of social media
followers. However, this is not necessarily true.
 Next, we will discuss the topic of social media
followers, and how many followers is an adequate
amount to have.
FOLLOWERS ARE IMPORTANT, BUT…
 It is certainly true that having a healthy amount of
social media followers is beneficial to any business.
However, there is absolutely a limit to the
effectiveness of followers.
 For example, any followers that are outside of your
target audience are much less useful than followers
that fit your desired demographics.
 Simply put, if your followers don’t care about your
business – and you will therefore receive no return
on investment from them – then there is no
advantage in having them as followers.
GOALS
 With this in mind, it is important to set realistic goals
for the number of social media followers your
business should have.
 Like many things, the right amount will depend on
many factors and be will different for every
business.
 You might consider your target audience, how many
resources you have devoted to working on social
media, your business’s short and long term goals,
and any other relevant information when making
your decision.
HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR
FOLLOWERS
 Regardless of the number of social media followers
you have, there are many things you can do to
make the most out of having them.
 The best benefit your followers can provide you
with is engagement with your social media
account’s activity.
 As we mentioned before, if you get no return on
investment from you followers (or in this case, if
they ignore your content) then there is no point in
having them around.
 Therefore, coaxing engagement out of your
followers should be your main goal, instead of
simply collecting a large number of followers.
