Smartphones have more advanced computing ability and can be thought of as a handheld computer integrated into a mobile phone. According to a study by ComScore, in 2010 over 45.5 million people in the United States owned smartphones.
3. History of the smartphone The first smartphone was called “Simon”. It was created by IBM in 1992 and sold in the US from 1993. It was a mobile phone, basic computer, pager and fax machine. It cost $899 in 1993.

10. Smartphones in business Many business people use smartphones as an important tool for their career. You can sign in to the office, check your email, schedule meetings and surf the Internet while you are out of the actual office. In the last election Barack Obama used his BlackBerry to arrange his appointments and keep in touch with his team while he was on the road.
