Present storytelling through the video. The advantage of this ICT integration is that the

The focus of this presentation is to showcase how mobile technology can be utilised for

learner progress and identify topics where learners might need assistance. SchoolNet
SA is participating in a project that uses an online forum to engage learners in Maths
learning. The Grade 10 Maths curriculum is available via a service on MXIT. Learners
are able to use their cell phones to work through practice examples and test questions
in the various Maths topics in the curriculum. A teacher can access the service using
Moodle to manage learner progress in any/all of the topics and draw summary reports
                     on each learner.

  • 10. PROGRAMME INFORMATION th 5 12:30 pm Main Hall Thinking Differently as Learning Professionals (Keynote) It is becoming apparent that we are at the beginning of a fundamental shift in the way that both learning and working is happening. This should not be seen as a threat to educators, but as an opportunity to take on the new challenges it offers. The first Plenary step will be to understand the changes that are taking place, and then become immersed in the new social media tools that are underpinning this change in order to work smarter as well as help your students learn smarter. Jane Hart, Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies (C4LPT), UK th 5 3:00 pm Meet in Main Hall PD in your PJs: Learning from your Personal Learning Network (PLN) Can Take Place Anytime (1 hour) Sometimes as educators we continue in our same old ruts, doing things the way we always did while our learners are living in a digital world! Teachers can enter this digital world and find a whole host of new virtual friends who are doing amazing things in their classrooms, and are happy to share their findings. This can do wonders for getting our creative juices flowing and transforming our classroom practice. This presentation will show you how to create your own PLN and keep a record of what you are learning so that it is easily accessible. It looks at examples of collaboration platforms such as Windows All Live, Ning, Video channels, Twitter and Facebook groups among others that keep teachers in touch, sharing amazing ideas. It also looks at online conferencing as a way of keeping up with new ideas. Fiona Beal, Fish Hoek Primary School, W Cape th 5 4:00 pm Meet in Main Hall How can grasshoppers change ICT practices? (1 hr) You attend a workshop, but upon returning to your own workplace, you fail to implement Teachers, SMTs, NGOs the lessons learned. Your colleague just got his ICDL certificate, but still has a classroom full of chalk and talk. This session will give you ideas for alternative ways of getting ICT in the classroom. Delegates will explore ways to implement lessons learned during a workshop into the daily practice, ways to improve ICT skills without training or workshops, ways to help colleagues really cross the ICT barrier. Delegates will exchange good practices and the presenter will introduce them to one specific, successful approach: How grasshoppers brought ICT into Zambian classrooms.
