Visit Chile

Central Valley

Araucanía
We will visit the San Isidro Lighthouse, Cape Froward and Francisco Coloane
Park, the first marine park of Chile, and a place that gathers the diversity of
wild nature, the dramatic view of the Patagonia fjords and the Strait of Magellan
and the first known feeding ground for humpback whales along the Pacific.
Day 0: From Punta Arenas, we take a private transfer around 6 PM, following
the shore of the Magellan Strait for 60KMS until we reach Bahía Voces (Bay
of
Voices) close to the Santa Maria river.
The Lighthouse is located at the tip of South America, in the Peninsula of
Brunswick; the hotel is located at the side of the lighthouse. We will take a
rubber boat (zodiac) for about 25 minutes, into the Magellan Strait, with the
chance to see local marine wildlife, including the Austral dolphin, sea lions and
albatross.
We spend the night in a cozy hotel after a welcome dinner.
(1 hour by private transfer, 25 minutes by zodiac) (Night at Hosteria
San Isidro)
Day 1: We will board the vessel for navigation towards the Straits of Magellan.
A good breakfast and lunch are served on board during the trip. After a few
hours sailing you’ll have your first observation of humpback whales and seabirds.
In the afternoon you arrive at the campsite at Carlos III Island and go for a
short botanical stroll at the campsite surroundings. You’ll enjoy a good dinner
with an amazing view of the Strait and maybe the sound of a whale.
(8 hours navigation)
Day 2: After an early breakfast you sail in the Whale Sound vessel looking for
whales, and come back for lunch at the campsite. In the afternoon you’ll depart
for Santa Ines Island to visit the glacier and more navigation and exploration
around Santa Ines Island.
You will sail around Rupert Island to observe Magellan Penguins,
skuas, cormorant colonies, fur seals and sea lions rockeries. Lunch will be
aboard
the vessel as you return sailing to Punta Arenas. We arrive around 8 pm.

Whale Watching
Chile
Chile is a land of great contrasts and remarkable beauty, which offers its visitors
an ample scope of alternatives to enjoy splendid leisure or adventure holidays.

Landscapes & Wildlife
The Lodge Slow has ample experience in organizing photo safari
in Torres del Paine for people who are interested in landscapes
and wildlife. The Torres del Paine National Park is one of the most
extraordinary places in Chile for the photography of fauna, flora
and scenery. Each departure is guided by a professional photographer
who lives in the area year around.
During your trip you’ll have the opportunity to shoot magnificent
vistas and an up close visit to the Glacier Grey part of the southern
Patagonian ice field. Chances are we’ll view a brilliant display of
ice calving from the glacier. Other highlights include the majestic
Andea Condor with its wing span of up to ten feet or a Chilean
flamingo, a contrast in this harsh landscape. We lodge at the
Hosteria Pehoe, the most centrally located hotel in the park and
with spectacular views of the Paine massif just a step or short walk
outside your bedroom door.

Located in South America, between the Pacific Ocean and the Andean Mountain
Range, Chile has an abundant variety of different landscapes and climatic zones
according to its distinctive geographic regions. This spectrum reaches from the
heat and aridity of the Atacama Desert (considered to be the driest desert in the
world) to the mysterious Rapa Nui (Easter) Island, and the Juán Fernández
archipelago with Robinson Crusoe Island, to the temperate climate of the central
zone, the Island of Chiloé, and the heavy rainfall and temperature drops of the
ultimate south, from where the desolate landscape of Tierra del Fuego gives way
to the Antartica which preserves over 90 % of the ice reserves and 70 % of the
freshwater reserves of the world.

Wildlife: Spring in Patagonia offers long days of sunlight, vast
landscapes of steepe (pampa) and a world of native flowers and
plants springing alive. This is the time when the young are born
of the wildlife unique to the area, guanacos (Llama family), foxes,
hares, ñandu (ostrich family) and pumas (mountain lions) in addition
to many more varieties of birds.
Landscapes: Patagonia in the fall is a unique opportunity to capture
the explosion of colors as the leaves on the native Nothofagus
trees change to bright red against the back drop of the snow capped
peaks of the Paine Massif. It’s a time to take advantage of the
sunlight that has softened and changed angles since the summer,
creating magnificent shadows over the pampas and the rolling hills.

The official Chilean language is Castillian Spanish, even though the acknowledgement
of English as a second language is growing among its population of over 15 million
inhabitants.

Puerto Natales is located 254 km north of Punta Arenas. It is the capital of the Province of
Última Esperanza (Last Hope) and starting point for tourist destinations known worldwide.
Puerto Natales is located 254 km north of Punta Arenas. It is the capital of the Province of

National Park Torres del Paine is situated between the massif of the Andean mountain range
and the Patagonian steppe in the province of Última Esperanza. Open year around, the park
can be reached by air, land and water, and there are various circuits which encircle its
extension. The most comprehensive trips are done by car along the approximately 100 km
route that crosses the park and skirts lagoons, rivers and waterfalls of astonishing beauty.
Another option is to trek along the trails that are diligently described, arranged and marked
with signs. These trails encompass tours for one day up to a complete circuit through
the Paine massif, a majestic tour that lasts between six and ten days. Through them you
cross different rivers, valleys, hills and glaciers.

Those who tackle the adventure of getting to know this interesting country can enjoy
the diversified and rich gastronomy by indulging in its typical dishes. These include
empanadas (pastry turnovers filled with a meat and onion mixture), cornbread,
cazuelas ( stew with meat and vegetables). Also, visitors will have the opportunity
to appreciate the copihue , national flower that normally grows in the forested zones
of the Arancanía region. Furthermore, they can enjoy the traditional “Cueca” dance,
which, as it happens with the climate, has peculiar characteristics in each region.

Duration: 03 days - 02 nights

The Central Valley is the heart of Chile and the classical
geography of Chile reappears here: the mountain range of the
Coast, the depression called “Valle Central” (Central Valley),
limited to the East by the Andes Mountains.
Santiago is immense, its central core, however, is manageable
and relatively small - a roughly triangular area bounded by the
Rio Mapocho on the north. It is a city of grand thoroughfares
and plazas, lined with public buildings and churches and circled
by parks.
The sister cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, built on steep
hillsides overlooking the Pacific, hold distinct attractions for the
tourist. The former with its colorful, imaginative hillside
architecture; the latter -dubbed the garden city- with elegant
hotels, an active night life, a number of well- frequented beaches
and a popular song festival.

Pucón / Curarrehue

The city of Pucón caters for all tastes. The over a-hundred-year-old forests are
under protection in two national parks and one private reserve. Rivers such as
the Trancura satisfy the expectations of anglers and rafting and floating enthusiasts.
The slopes of Villarica Volcano boast facilities for skiing or mountain climbing,
as well as thermal spas. In addition, visitors can enjoy relaxing at the black-sand
beaches that absorb the heat during the day.

Pucón has lodging facilities for all tastes and prices. Moreover,
there is an intense nightlife that allows the possibility to take
one’s chance at the local casino.
The Araucanian culture has its center at the Mapuche museum
located on Caupolicán Street. It is a result of the effort of
German immigrant families that rescued this cultural heritage
to exhibit it and protect the region’s own identity.

  • 3. We will visit the San Isidro Lighthouse, Cape Froward and Francisco Coloane Park, the first marine park of Chile, and a place that gathers the diversity of wild nature, the dramatic view of the Patagonia fjords and the Strait of Magellan and the first known feeding ground for humpback whales along the Pacific. Day 0: From Punta Arenas, we take a private transfer around 6 PM, following the shore of the Magellan Strait for 60KMS until we reach Bahía Voces (Bay of Voices) close to the Santa Maria river. We will take a rubber boat (zodiac) for about 25 minutes, into the Magellan Strait, with the chance to see local marine wildlife, including the Austral dolphin, sea lions and albatross. We spend the night in a cozy hotel after a welcome dinner. (1 hour by private transfer, 25 minutes by zodiac) (Night at Hosteria San Isidro) Day 1: We will board the vessel for navigation towards the Straits of Magellan. A good breakfast and lunch are served on board during the trip. After a few hours sailing you’ll have your first observation of humpback whales and seabirds. • 4. Chile Chile is a land of great contrasts and remarkable beauty, which offers its visitors an ample scope of alternatives to enjoy splendid leisure or adventure holidays. P a t a g o n i a / To r r e s d e l P a i n e , Landscapes & Wildlife The Lodge Slow has ample experience in organizing photo safari in Torres del Paine for people who are interested in landscapes and wildlife. The Torres del Paine National Park is one of the most extraordinary places in Chile for the photography of fauna, flora and scenery. Each departure is guided by a professional photographer who lives in the area year around. During your trip you’ll have the opportunity to shoot magnificent vistas and an up close visit to the Glacier Grey part of the southern Patagonian ice field. Chances are we’ll view a brilliant display of ice calving from the glacier. Other highlights include the majestic Andea Condor with its wing span of up to ten feet or a Chilean flamingo, a contrast in this harsh landscape. We lodge at the Hosteria Pehoe, the most centrally located hotel in the park and with spectacular views of the Paine massif just a step or short walk outside your bedroom door. Located in South America, between the Pacific Ocean and the Andean Mountain Range, Chile has an abundant variety of different landscapes and climatic zones according to its distinctive geographic regions. This spectrum reaches from the heat and aridity of the Atacama Desert (considered to be the driest desert in the world) to the mysterious Rapa Nui (Easter) Island, and the Juán Fernández archipelago with Robinson Crusoe Island, to the temperate climate of the central zone, the Island of Chiloé, and the heavy rainfall and temperature drops of the ultimate south, from where the desolate landscape of Tierra del Fuego gives way to the Antartica which preserves over 90 % of the ice reserves and 70 % of the freshwater reserves of the world. Wildlife: Spring in Patagonia offers long days of sunlight, vast landscapes of steepe (pampa) and a world of native flowers and plants springing alive. This is the time when the young are born of the wildlife unique to the area, guanacos (Llama family), foxes, hares, ñandu (ostrich family) and pumas (mountain lions) in addition to many more varieties of birds. Landscapes: Patagonia in the fall is a unique opportunity to capture the explosion of colors as the leaves on the native Nothofagus trees change to bright red against the back drop of the snow capped peaks of the Paine Massif. It’s a time to take advantage of the sunlight that has softened and changed angles since the summer, creating magnificent shadows over the pampas and the rolling hills. Puerto Natales is located 254 km north of Punta Arenas. It is the capital of the Province of Última Esperanza (Last Hope) and a starting point for tourist destinations known worldwide. National Park Torres del Paine is situated between the massif of the Andean mountain range and the Patagonian steppe in the province of Última Esperanza. Open year around, the park can be reached by air, land and water, and there are various circuits which encircle its extension. The most comprehensive trips are done by car along the approximately 100 km route that crosses the park and skirts lagoons, rivers and waterfalls of astonishing beauty. Another option is to trek along the trails that are diligently described, arranged and marked with signs. These trails encompass tours for one day up to a complete circuit through the Paine massif, a majestic tour that lasts between six and ten days. Through them you cross different rivers, valleys, hills and glaciers. View more, on CD or website: www.thelodgeslow.com Those who tackle the adventure of getting to know this interesting country can enjoy the diversified and rich gastronomy by indulging in its typical dishes. These include empanadas (pastry turnovers filled with a meat and onion mixture), cornbread, cazuelas ( stew with meat and vegetables). Also, visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate the copihue , national flower that normally grows in the forested zones of the Arancanía region. Furthermore, they can enjoy the traditional “Cueca” dance, which, as it happens with the climate, has peculiar characteristics in each region.
  • 6. • 10. Pucón / Curarrehue The city of Pucón caters for all tastes. The over a-hundred-year-old forests are under protection in two national parks and one private reserve. Rivers such as the Trancura satisfy the expectations of anglers and rafting and floating enthusiasts. The slopes of Villarica Volcano boast facilities for skiing or mountain climbing, as well as thermal spas. In addition, visitors can enjoy relaxing at the black-sand beaches that absorb the heat during the day. Pucón has lodging facilities for all tastes and prices. Moreover, there is an intense nightlife that allows the possibility to take one’s chance at the local casino. The Araucanian culture has its center at the Mapuche museum located on Caupolicán Street. It is a result of the effort of German immigrant families that rescued this cultural heritage to exhibit it and protect the region’s own identity.
