The hotel businesswasstartedbySurrendraPaul in1967, withthe openingof the group'sfirsthotel,
The Park, a 150-room hotel onthe fashionableParkStreetin Kolkata,on1 November;the hotel at
Visakhapatnamwasaddedin1968, while The ParkNew Delhi commencedoperationsin1987. After
the deathof SurrendraPaul,hisdaughterPriyaPaul succeededhimin1990. Subsequently,The Park
Bangalore wasaddedin2000, while The ParkChennai wascommissionedin2002.
The Park NewDelhi tookupthe restorationof the 1724 builtastronomical observatory,Jantar
Mantar, in 2000, after an MoU withthe Archaeological Surveyof India(ASI).
