              Introduction

It is an individualized teaching method.
“computer assisted instruction”(CAI) refers
to instruction or remediation presented on
a computer. CAI facilitates instant access
  to information with infinite patience,
accuracy and it provides opportunity for
  systematically organized maximum learning
for all learners. It provides complete
  individualizing instruction.
Definition

‘’when the computer is used as an aid to
teaching method of instruction is called
the computer aided instruction. ’’
Synonyms of CAI
  CAI: Computer-Assisted
        Instruction
 CBE: Computer-Based Education
 CAL: Computer-Assisted
        Learning
 IAC: Instructional Applications
        of Computers
 CBI: Computer-Based
        Instruction
Purpose of CAI
• Providing background knowledge.
• Remediation
• Foundation mastery
• Review and reinforcement
• Assessment for improving teaching
TYPES OF CAI

       LOGO

    SIMULATION

    CONTROLLED
     LEARNING
LOGO
It is the instructional procedure for
learning the programme language
through simple tasks. The simple
programme in logo system are
concerned with generating design on
the screen which students do by
following instruction.
SIMULATION
By this method the computer in programmes
enable the students to mount an
 experiment in symbolic form.
CONTROLLED LEARNING

A controlled learning programme provides
a course of study in an instructional
sequence on the pattern of branching
 programme.
VALUE OF CAI
• Increased mastery
  of fundamental concepts
• Improve motivation through
  reward and interaction.
• Builds confidence.
• Provides a tool for student self
  reflecting
• Helpful in critical analysis.
• Problem solving.
Advantages of CAI
• Instruct large number of
  students simultaneously.

• Reduces the work load of
  teachers.
• Multiple dimensional learning.
• Recording, reviewing and ready
  reference.
• Interactive.
• Active learning
• Immediate feedback
Limitations of CAI
• lack of personal touch
• Repeated instruction
• Equipment and
   software can be costly
• Development takes time and money
• Produce mental and physical
  fatigue.

• `
•Artistic competence of student
takes a backseat.
•`can not interact in human
language.
•Testing the student
is only done by the
multiple choice
 question.
