The Challenge
Americold contacted SmartWatt Energy, Inc., to perform construction-grade
energy audits and complete value-engineered designs of new energy-efficient
lighting systems for twenty-eight facilities across the United States. SmartWatt
Energy’s SmartLighting® solution featured LED fixtures, based on their superior
performance in cold storage applications, combined with motion controls.
Americold’s goals were to dramatically improve the quality and quantity of
light, and to save energy. Based on the impressive results of the
SmartLighting® solution proposed, Americold is currently working with
SmartWatt Energy to implement projects at additional facilities nationwide.
Smart Savings
In addition to improved conditions, Americold will enjoy the following realized
energy savings from this lighting upgrade project:
