1. U.S. FoodserviceThe Company
U.S. Foodservice is one of the largest broadline foodservice distributors in the United
States. The company distributes food and other related products to over 250,000
customers, including restaurants, lodging establishments, schools, universities and
healthcare facilities. They market and distribute more than 43,000 brands and
employ 25,000 foodservice professionals. They pride themselves in providing the
highest quality service and food to their customers.
Now, in addition to providing high-quality service to their customers, they are
focusing on reducing energy use, lowering energy costs and conserving resources for
everyone.
The Challenge
U.S. FoodService contacted SmartWatt Energy, Inc. to conduct a full-building audit of
all lighting systems in their Scotia, New York facility. U.S FoodService wanted to
complete this project in two stages in order to verify the energy savings and light
levels from the first project. Once the first stage of the project was complete, and
the energy savings and light qualities were realized, U.S. FoodService immediately
went forward with the second stage of the project. The company’s goals were to
dramatically improve the quality and quantity of light for employees and to save
money on energy costs.
Smart Savings
In addition to improved working conditions, U.S. FoodService will enjoy the
following realized energy savings from this lighting upgrade project:
