JUST STOP IT!
NMS AGAINST CYBERBULLYING
A 7th grade Digital Skills project
Ruins
Friendships and
hurts People
What is Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is bullying
with electronic devices
and equipment:
Like cellphones, computers
and tablets, as well as
communication tools including
social media, text messaging,
chat and websites
THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF CYBERBULLYING
ANONYMITY
Is when somebody is being mean to you
on the internet without telling you their
name. This makes it harder for the victim
to find out who is threatening them.
Mostly the bullies do not want to get
found.
CYBERSTALKING
Is a form of being mean to someone through cyber comunication
such as in text messages and emails. The victims often worry that
the ,,cyberstalkers’’ will become ‚,real’’ stalkers.
FLAMING
Normally is used in chatrooms or messages. The
bullies use bad languege to insult and use emotional
pressure.
EXAMPLE: CYBERSTALKING
To write rumours, threats, rude or mean
comments or messages, or even writing
embarrassing things about someone.
A boy gets harassed
on the internet
LILA: how r u?
WUWU: i hate u!
LILA: who is this?
WUWU: no one likes u!
LILA: violet is that u?
WUWU: don‘t come back to school, kill yourself.
This is
cyberbullying
People even get suicidal
because of
cyberbullying
This girl died on the
10th of October 2012
because she got
depressed over
cyberbullying
To: Lena
We all hate
you!!! Y R U
so stupid?
Don`t come
back 2 school!
From: unknown nr.
We all hate
you!!! Y R U so
stupid? Don´t
come back 2
school!
People make their
number unknown
to hide their identity
Cyberbully Bullied person
There are no specific laws concerning
cybermobbing, but there are some laws which may
apply when someone is getting cyberbullied
§185 Insults
The insulter is punished by being
sent to prison up to one year or
been given a large fine. But if the
intention was to harm someone,
then the insulter is brought to
prison for about 2 years, or
charged with a large amount.
§§ 186/187 False rumour
Who states or spreads false rumors
about a person, that harm that person‘s
reputation and if the fact is not proven to
be true, then the person who spreads the
rumour will be imprisoned for 1 year, or
a big fine must be payed.
§ 22 Privacy of personal items
Pictures, etc. are only allowed to be
spread with permission of the people in
picture, ect. Everyone has the right of his
own image.
Reasons kids may cyberbully:
they are bored they are angry
for ‚fun‘ unintentionally
A cyberbully
is usually a
popular
person, wich
has many
friends (by-
standers) to
help him
bully
He/she
probably
knows how to
use social
networks
Sometimes
he/she has
been bullied
before
Behind the
screen he/she
feels more
powerfull
He/she might
see it as a way
to stay popular.
Cyberbullying allows
bullies to avoid facing
their victims, so it requires
less courage and provides
the illusion that bullies
won’t get caught.
When it comes to
cyberbullying, they
are often motivated
by anger, revenge
or frustration.
Is a By-stander also a Bully?
YES
•Because they don’t help the
bullied person
•They watch it happen
•They think by just watching
they can get away with it
•
•There is no reason for them
not to be a bully. If they do
not help then they cancel
themselves from the group
making them a bully too
•They don‘t DO anything
•They don‘t intend to
encourage the bullying
(but they do)
•They don‘t hurt someone
directly
What do YOU think?
Hihihihihihihi
hihihihi
Just this is
the bully
Not just the bully laughs, also the bystanders. So now more and more people are
“helping“ the bully. That‘s why bystanders are also bullies.
„I HATE YOU!
YOU ARE SO WEIRD!!
NOBODY LIKES
YOU!“
Why do bullies bully?
Bullies bully because they have some sort of problem. Usually they
are really really really really really really really really really really
really really really really really really really really really really
really really really really really really really really really really
really really really really really really really really really really
really really really really really really really really really really

really really really really really really really really really really
really really jealous, stupid, hateful
...ever since then I've been so insecure
and I now have an eating disorder
because of her. Because of the things she
has said I have a problem with self-harm
as well.. She still sends me random
messages putting me down. She even got
the whole school to dislike me for a
while.. I just wish I had somebody to talk
to and for someone into be here for me...
“
A Victim‘s Quote
 Embarrassing stuff could
be published
 The bully can bully a
person from anywhere
through a phonenumber/
e- mail adress
 People all over the world
could bully a person
 If anything is published on
the internet it is hard to get
rid of it!!!
Statistics on bullying
Do not feed the trolls!
Do not respond to the bully
because your reaction is just
what the bully wants; it gives
her/him power over you.
What else can you do against cyberbullying?
- when you get bullied on social media, block the
bully and make sure that you have no contact with
him/her via the internet.
- speak with someone you trust, even though it
might be hard. These persons can be: social
pedagogues, teachers, friends, parents or
generally your family.
Remember it can be very hard for someone e.g.
the family or the teachers to see that someone is
getting cyberbullied, so you may have to take the
first step…
What to do?
If you receive insulting
messages, comments or
emails:
• keep calm
• do not write anything
rude back
• show an adult the
message
• If possible, block or
report the person.
•Stand up for yourself
•Get help
•Tell someone you know
•Ignore them, reaction is what they want
•Report the bullying
•Block the bullies from your account
•Keep a record of the bully`s messages,
phone calls etc.
•Don`t give personal information online
•Get the police involved
Why do I
always get
bullied?
What can you do for yourself?
TALK ABOUT IT
WITH A SIBLING!
Sisssstersss
„NUMMER GEGEN KUMMER“
If you‘re ashamed and you
can‘t or won‘t talk to your
parents or teacher; look for a
number where you can talk
anonymously with a person
who can help you. For
example: 0800 1110333
Talk to the person
Make sure the person is safe
Get help for the person
Give the victim the feeling that somebody cares
Try to find out who is cyberbullying the person
Block the bullies/website
Don‘t be a bully or bystander
If it gets bad tell the police about the victim
Stand up, don‘t stand by!
Don‘t be a bully Come on! How would you feel if
someone would be cyberbullying you? Even just
thinking about how the other person feels can put a
big damper on agression. It is needed in this world!
Be a friend not a bystander Watching or
forwarding means that the bully has more power
and it hurts the victim even more. If you can, tell the
bully to stop or let them know that harassment is
mean and looks stupid. The bully has to know that
his/her behavior is unacceptable. If you can‘t stop
them then help the victim and report the behavior.
Think about it

Tips for teachers
• Talk with the involved. The victim and the
bully should be consulted. Maybe discuss
a compromise.
• Inform the parents - Parents may not
realise their child is bullied
• Talk with the class and school-
cyberbullying should NOT be silenced.
• Inform the police - if there is an action that
you feel is against the law, call 110
1. Be aware of what your kids do
online. Why not be their friend on
Facebook?
2. Help your child to set up their
privacy settings on Facebook.
3. Share a computer at home
4.Learn more about facebook
yourself
5.Set time limits for games and
social media use
6. Don‘t overreact by blaming
your child
7.Tell your children not to
respond to any cyberbullying
threats or comments
8.Get an internet filter for your
network.
9.Talk to your school’s
guidance councillor, so
they can talk to bullies and
keep an eye on them.
10. Tell your child to block
unfriendly people and to
save any evidence of
bullying before deleting it
from their wall or inbox.
