stand-alone cupcake bar in the Food
Hall of the prestigious Selfridges
department store
3. THE
OBJECTIVE
Lola’s bakery offers uncomplicated
and sophisticated cupcakes to consumers
looking for a teatime treat. The com-
pany was established two years ago in
a family kitchen by friends Romy Lewis
and Victoria Jossel. The Lola’s cupcake
brand has grown, now producing over
3000 cupcakes a day.
In 2009 the Primrose Hill handcrafted
cake business was looking to extend
its retail offering.
4. THE
SOLUTION
The design of the space took influence
from the popular cupcake bakeries in
the United States, where the recent
trend in the cakes was established.
The wooden counter and open displays
of cakes bring home a kitchen style
to the site, giving the space an overall
welcoming feel. The space offers
customers the opportunity to sit down,
relax, and sample the cakes in comfort-
able and inviting surroundings.
6. RESULTS
The cupcake bar has enjoyed positive
sales figures since opening, exceeding
sales targets by 50% month on month.
