2. LEARNING IN THE 21st CENTURY
The learning of the 21st century will not be those
who cannot read and write, but those who cannot
learn, unlearn, and relearn
We believe we are at a point where
ACCESS & COMPUTER LITERACY
is a basic right. Just like reading & writing.
Without it, you are locked out,
unable to access many other human rights

can access Computers, the Internet, and other
digital technologies that enable them to
gather information, create, learn, and
communicate with others while they develop
essential digital skills. The focus is on the use
of digital technologies to support community,
economic, educational, and social
development—reducing isolation, bridging the
digital divide, promoting health issues,
creating economic opportunities, and reaching
out to youth.

4. UNLOCKING POTENTIAL
The number one benefit of information technology
is that it empowers people to do what they want to
do.
It lets people be creative.
It lets people be productive.
It lets people learn things they didn't think they
could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about
potential.

THE CHALLENGE
Computers and the Internet connect people
to crucial information that can improve
health, social, education, and employment
opportunities. Incredibly, the vast majority of
the world’s population—more than 87
percent, or 5.5 billion people—lack access to
these powerful, modern tools.
