The Charlotte Venture Challenge process is aimed at exposing entrepreneurs to as many learning
experiences as possible. The competition begins with a series of workshops to help start-ups

The Charlotte Venture Challenge business innovation competition, is accepting applications from

The $100K ACC Clean Energy Challenge is a business plan competition encouraging students
from all universities throughout the southeastern United States to develop business plans for new
clean energy companies, is now accepting entries.
The ACC Clean Energy Challenge, supported by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), invites business plans with commercialization
potential in the clean energy space, including projects related to renewable energy, energy
efficiency improvements and advanced fuels/vehicles.

5. UNC Charlotte - Charlotte Research Institute
Charlotte Venture Challenge 2013

The Charlotte Venture Challenge process is aimed at exposing entrepreneurs to as many learning

The Charlotte Venture Challenge is a start-up competition for early-stage high growth companies.
The competition has a history of producing and showcasing some of the Southeast’s most
successful early-stage companies. In 2012, 117 start-up companies entered the competition for the
chance to win over $113,000 in prize money.

Challenge winners can win up to $10,000 in seed funding plus a slot in ASU’s Venture Catalyst
cohort.

The New York State Business Plan Competition, one of the nation’s largest student business
competitions, is a venture creation and innovation competition where most promising collegiate
entrepreneurs and startup companies compete for over $100,000 in funding.
The competition encourages students to fully engage in their research and allows them to gain
valuable experience through presenting their business plan to potential investors and industry
executives on 6 areas.

8. New Jersey City University
Build Your Dream Challenge 2013

Build Your Dream™ will be judged by NJCU alumni entrepreneurs and representatives from
NJCU’s Business Administration Department, Business Development Incubator (BDI), and Small
Business Development Center (SBDC), and private equity firms.
The competition is part of an ongoing series of campus programs that focus on entrepreneurship
and various aspects of starting a business. The programs typically feature NJCU business faculty,
representatives from the SBDC at NJCU, NJCU alumni entrepreneurs, and other experts in
various fields, as well as networking opportunities.

9. U.S. Department of Energy
MegaWatt Ventures Competition 2013

MegaWatt Ventures is an annual clean energy business plan competition that is sponsored by the
U.S. Department of Energy, in conjunction with Southeastern US universities. The competition has
an over-riding mission of encouraging the commercialization of innovative energy-related
technologies from the lab bench into the marketplace. Students, entrepreneurs and faculty are all
invited to participate in this exciting program that brings innovation, entrepreneurship and various
local industries together to create new ventures that have the potential to create new jobs and help
solve today’s global environmental issues.

CIMA Global Business Challenge 2013

The CIMA GBC competition is run in three stages. Teams of four act as consultants and compete
