  2. It is now recommended that you use GEORGIA font for your resume. Since almost all resumes are submitted digitally, you should use a font that is easy to read on a screen.
  3. The modern resume is more like a profile that focuses on the benefits an employer would gain from hiring you. Although time consuming, custom write your resume so that your accomplishments are written specifically for the job responsibilities.
  4. Make your resume interactive. Photos add personality. Videos make the reader connect with your “brand”. Tell the employer WHY you’re best for the job; Describe VALUE you can bring. You will stand out!
  5. Career Center FB has job listings, tips, lots of GREAT information.
  6. Enough said. Make your online profiles PRIVATE.
  7. Inappropriate photos or comments; drinking/drug references; negative comments about previous employer.
  8. Samples of your work, express a more creative and fun, but still professional side, link to all of your online sites from one site.
  9. LinkedIn – a social media platform for PROFESSIONAL networking. Don’t just create a LinkedIn profile, but engage in it.
  10. Twitter – Follow your interests. Get instant updates from your friends, industry experts, favorite celebrities, and what’s happening around the world.
  11. Facebook – connect and share with the people in your life. That line between social and professional gets blurry and I'm not sure how, and when, you should draw it, especially when you're job searching.
  12. Be an “open book” with your professional thoughts and desires.
