Mindings is a private social network that displays pictures, messages and calendar reminders on a digital picture frame-like device. Ideal for the technology-shy Mindings offers rich social connection out-of-the-box with no learning curve or the need to understand how digital technology works. Family members, friends, carers and volunteer befrienders can all share content with a user from a simple mobile App, or via email, text, social network, and online calendars. When new content is received the user simply presses an on-screen icon to confirm receipt, which sends a notification - a “GotIt!” - to the sender letting them know that it’s been received and that their loved-one is well. Not only is this offering a user frequent and rich social connection with a caring community, it acts as a light-touch, non-intrusive, telecare service where the receipt of a text message is welcome reassurance of a happy loved one. Because of Mindings simplicity, it has been successfully clinically trialed in the homes of people living with dementia and other cognitive and physical conditions. Current developments include additional interactivity with multiple responses - allowing users to reply to questions or multiple options, rather than just confirming receipt. Furthermore our “Groupings” concept - where a user without family has a supportive community of volunteers formed around them - is being co-developed with South London and Maudsley Hospital. A wellbeing measurement framework will offer care organisations ongoing wellbeing measurement enabling prediction and prevention of health decline.
