Thank you to the Social Committee who organized our annual Patronal Festival
Dinner and Dance last night.
Parables Passage and a Pint: Different Name – same great time! At our last
Parables and a Pint meeting it was proposed to change from parables to the
upcoming Gospel reading for each week. This requires a slight adjustment to the
name, we will now be Passages and a Pint. The next meeting is December 10 at
7:30 pm at the Tara Inn on Kingston Rd. The reading is Matthew 11:2-11.
The Story of Christmas in Scripture and Song (Service of Lessons and Carols)
will be held next Sunday, December 15th at 4 p.m. This year, the Service will be
followed by a pot-luck supper in Robinson Hall. The main course will be provided and
you are invited to bring appetizers, salad or dessert as we join together in fellowship. To
help plan for the main course, please add your name to the sign-up list on the
Manderley bulletin board. And please feel free to invite family and friends!
As usual, the Altar Guild will be decorating the church with Poinsettias this
Christmas. If you would like to donate to the cost of the plants, please use the
envelopes available at the back of the church marked “Poinsettias”. Please clearly
PRINT the information requested on the outside of the envelope and place it on the
collection plate.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and helped with, last week’s Advent Wreath
Making Event. If you require additional blue candles for your wreath, please speak to
Rev. Janet.

The Amazing Christmas Feast returns Sunday, December 22nd from 4- 8 p.m.
Once again, St. Nicholas is joining together with Wimpy’s Diner and Birchmount
Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC) to reach out to those in need at Christmas.
Following a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at Wimpy’s, individuals and families
come over to St. Nicholas for dessert, the distribution of gifts and a visit from Santa
Claus.
Once again this year there are several ways to get involved……
 We are collecting non-perishable food items for Christmas hampers distributed
by the “Share Christmas’ program at BBNC. There is a container set up in the
east transept and items need to be received by December 12.
 We are collecting new un-wrapped toys for the kids who attend our Christmas
Feast (in partnership with Wimpy’s Diner and BBNC). Please keep the cost to a
maximum of $20.00.
 Monetary Donations may be made using the blue outreach envelopes at the back
of the church.
 As well, we are collecting items for the ‘give-away’ table at the Feast….gently
used items of clothing, sheets, blankets and towels. Also, shampoo, toothpaste
and body wash and other necessities such as toilet paper, Kleenex, detergent
and soap.
For more information, please contact Deb Chapman at 416-691-0449, Ken Campbell
at 647-504-0415 or by e-mail c/o the church office at office@stnicholasbirchcliff.com

New Outreach Initiative Pilot Project: The Outreach Committee is organizing an
Adult Community Lunch and Fellowship in Robinson Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 10th. The
program will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all adults are welcome to attend. We are
particularly hoping to reach out to those in need within the wider Birch Cliff
community. If you are interested in helping with this new initiative by providing food or
providing oversight, please contact Sonia Halloran at shalloran2@gmail.com or the
Church Office.
Donations to Outreach – at our Annual Vestry meeting in February 2013 the people of
St. Nicholas made a wonderful commitment to support our ongoing Parish Outreach
ministry. Since February, donations to Outreach have supported the Churches by the
Bluffs Foodbank, The Alzheimer’s Society Cooking and Support Group, and an InterFaith Lunch Program. Direct donations to Outreach may be made using the blue
envelopes at the back of the Church. Thank you for your continued support and for
making a difference in the lives of others.
Rev’d. Janet is available for conversations about life or faith, and to respond to
concerns, pastoral situations and pastoral emergencies. Please don’t hesitate to
contact her via email at jrh@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by calling the church office at
416-691-0449 ext. 223 or in the case of an emergency at 416-648-1418.

Following a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at Wimpy’s, individuals and families come over to St. Nicholas for dessert, the distribution of gifts and a visit from Santa Claus. Once again this year there are several ways to get involved……  We are collecting non-perishable food items for Christmas hampers distributed by the “Share Christmas’ program at BBNC. There is a container set up in the east transept and items need to be received by December 12.  We are collecting new un-wrapped toys for the kids who attend our Christmas Feast (in partnership with Wimpy’s Diner and BBNC). Please keep the cost to a maximum of $20.00.  Monetary Donations may be made using the blue outreach envelopes at the back of the church.  As well, we are collecting items for the ‘give-away’ table at the Feast….gently used items of clothing, sheets, blankets and towels. Also, shampoo, toothpaste and body wash and other necessities such as toilet paper, Kleenex, detergent and soap. The program will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all adults are welcome to attend. We are particularly hoping to reach out to those in need within the wider Birch Cliff community. If you are interested in helping with this new initiative by providing food or providing oversight, please contact Sonia Halloran at shalloran2@gmail.com or the Church Office. Donations to Outreach – at our Annual Vestry meeting in February 2013 the people of St. Nicholas made a wonderful commitment to support our ongoing Parish Outreach ministry. Since February, donations to Outreach have supported the Churches by the Bluffs Foodbank, The Alzheimer’s Society Cooking and Support Group, and an InterFaith Lunch Program. Direct donations to Outreach may be made using the blue envelopes at the back of the Church. Thank you for your continued support and for making a difference in the lives of others. Rev’d.
