From the Ground Up: Chapter Nine!
1. From The Ground Up:
A Towering Legacy
Chapter Nine:
Love Lessons
2. Well, it’s old news now, but Poppy won heirship!
Well, the poll was a tie, actually, between Poppy and Belle, and I flipped a coin. It came
up heads and Poppy became our heiress!
It was a very tense way of deciding an heir, I assure you.
Poppy also rolled to have three children this generation, but let’s get university out of the
way first!
3. Poppy has to wait for her sisters and cousins to be old enough to join her, and there isn’t
a whole lot to do.
So most of Poppy’s money ended up in the arcade machine.
4. Of course, there was a *little* bit of studying. Not much, just enough to keep Poppy in
her professor’s good books.
Though seeing as he’s a drama professor, he was easy to impress. They like everyone!
5. Also, the hula invasion continues. Now it has spread to dormies, and no one is safe.
6. Bored of the dorms, I sent Poppy Downtown.
I like to play mini-challenges with my heirs, and as Poppy is a Pleasure sim, I was going to
play a mini-challenge where she lives on community lots Downtown for a week. Only it’s
not possible now she’s in university, so I figured out something else…
7. Poppy has to marry one of the Downtownies – a slob, or a vampire, or a waiter or a
waitress.
The slob, Samuel Cormier, just happened to be wandering by on Poppy’s first visit to the
city.
8. “Ooh, this stinky guy is hot!”
“This uni chick thinks I’m hot! Neat!”
9. “You know, you’d be even more attractive if you took a bath.”
“Don’t try to change me, uni chick.”
“How about we go out to dinner and get to know each other a little bit?”
“Okay. But don’t make me wear shoes or fancy trousers.”
“Deal.”
10. “Table for two, please!”
“Are you sure, miss? He’s not wearing shoes…and the stains on those clothes…”
“With comments like that, you won’t get a tip from me.” Samuel insisted.
“You have money?”
“Yes! I keep it in my sock!”
“...Keep your tip, sir.”
11. “What can I get for- Oh Wright, what is that SMELL?”
“I personally think it’s the space aliens. Bathing is a conspiracy.”
“Your date looks like a space alien and doesn’t smell anywhere near as bad as you.”
“No one in this diner tonight wants their tip, do they?”
13. Despite the fact she actually likes to take showers, Poppy actually gets on really well
Samuel, with two bolts!
And look, they’re both messy! It’s meant to be!
14. “How cute are we in this picture? Seriously?”
“You’d better have it. I don’t have anywhere I can hang it.”
“Where do you even live?”
“In the moment, Poppy!” Samuel insisted.
“Dork.” Poppy said, but she smiled.
15. Also, if you don’t think this is the best ever photo booth picture, then you’re wrong.
There’s something oddly amazing about Poppy’s massive eyes in these pictures!
16. So the date ended up as a dream date, and Poppy had found herself a boyfriend. I’m
quite pleased that it was the first man she stumbled across!
17. And for a guy who wanders around town in his pyjamas, he seems to have a fair bit of
cash – he left us a piano!
Poppy’s bank balance greatly appreciated the donation.
18. The next day, Poppy’s family is invited over, because she kept rolling wants for parties.
Specifically, sports parties.
Not one sim sat down in front of the TV that afternoon, so sports wasn’t even involved!
19. Instead, there was this.
Jim doing the hula with his two biological daughters.
20. The hula invasion didn’t stop there.
Plus it looks like they’ve broken into a musical number. And that Jazz just walked in on it.
21. After that, it was time for the next two members of generation three to join the madness
– Belle and her cousin, Eric Alioto!
22. By the way, the elf template works surprisingly well with the bug eyes. Eric turned out to
be quite handsome!
23. And, of course, Belle grew up gorgeous.
I think there might be something of Jazz in there – maybe the jaw? But there’s certainly
no mistaking who her father is!
24. “Let’s congratulate each other on getting to college for three hours!”
“Okay, sounds like a plan!”
I ended up having to direct one of them away from the other, just to stop the non-stop
cycle of congratulations.
25. Inside, Eric found himself a girl he had two bolts for, Julie Scott.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t into having her meal interrupted with flirting.
27. More than okay with it.
I really like the idea of these two together.
28. Belle and Eric are best friends and do everything together, including spreading the hula.
It’s going to be around for generations to come, I just know it.
29. Eventually, Poppy dragged her sister and her cousin outside, as not much was happening
in the dorms.
“Ew did you see that elf with the bug eyes?!”
“Again, Poppy, why did we come outside?”
“Because Belle needs a boyfriend! That’s what university is for!”
30. It’s true, university is a time in the sims for playing matchmaker. So Belle went inside,
scoped the room, and found this guy.
Not who I would have picked, but hey, it’s her choice. They have two bolts. His name is
Troy Ngai.
31. And they get on very well. Though it was kind of awkward having Eric hanging around.
“Belle, can we go now? I’m starting to regret wearing my pyjamas outside.”
32. And with that, another semester ended, with Poppy and Belle teaching Eric the custom
of hanging loose.
33. After that, the final wave of generation three arrived at university – Erin Alioto, Fern
Stone and Charlie Louie.
Now EVERYONE is at uni, hooray!
34. So this is what the lot looks like now. All of them will spend their uni years in the dorm,
which they fill to the brim – I thought I’d picked a ten person dorm but apparently not.
Let’s hope six sims makes it interesting!
35. Of course, the first thing Fern does upon arrival is find the nearest video game. I will
probably have to get her a console so that she doesn’t throw all of the family’s money
into the arcade machine.
37. Eventually, I got bored of the dancing and whatnot, and had my sims do something
useful. Poppy’s learning how to arrange flowers so we can someday have snapdragons.
I’ve never used the snapdragons before.
38. Unfortunately, not everyone was so helpful. Fern continued to throw money away at the
arcade machine.
I’m going to have to buy her a games console, I think.
40. “Hey, you’re rather fun to look at. How about we go out for a drink sometime?”
“Uh uh. No, thank you.”
Somehow I don’t think this is the last time these two will meet.
41. “Look! I’m behaving myself!”
Belle has danced to the point where she is glowing. That is a serious commitment to
dance!
42. And we’ll leave the guys as they study for their exams.
See you next time, when the generation hopefully graduates!
