Only a small number of plant species are widely cultivated for food, putting future food security at risk as overreliance on a narrow genetic base can increase vulnerability to pests, diseases, and climate change. Greater diversity of crops is needed to ensure sustainable agriculture and nutrition worldwide.

  1. There are major issues facing our world, including climate change, malnutrition and poverty. Agricultural biodiversity, which has been used by generations of farmers, links them all. However, this diversity is in danger of disappearing.Over time, traditional farming knowledge and techniques have changed. As a result, diversity is shrinking on farms and in forests.
