                                  What can I answer?

Scholarship Possibilities:

President’s Scholarship
The President’s Scholarship recognizes first-year students of exceptional academic ability
with strong evidence of leadership potential. Eleven scholarships are awarded for
amounts ranging from $18,500 up to full tuition.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 3.5 or higher GPA in their core
courses OR a 27 or greater ACT composite (or a combined SAT score of 1210 or
greater). The scholarship is renewable for three years, based on academic performance.
Award decisions are based on academic criteria, letters of academic recommendation,
leadership activities, academic essays, and an on-campus interview. To receive this
award, qualified students are required to live on campus and to participate in Augsburg’s
Honors Program.

Applicants are encouraged to apply for additional scholarships for which they qualify, but
if a President’s Scholarship is awarded, the applicant cannot receive any other Augsburg
scholarship.

Amount: From $18,500 up to full tuition per year, up to four years Priority Deadline
for Application: Postmarked January 15, 2009* Deadline for Application: Postmarked
January 30, 2009 Scholarship Weekend: February 20-21, 2009

* Applicants who have a completed application by this date will be notified if they are a
Presidential Scholarship semi-finalist by January 30, 2009.

NOTE: Students who receive a President’s Scholarship are not eligible for any other
Augsburg scholarship.

Fine Arts Scholarships

The Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes incoming students who have excelled in art, film,
music, or theatre—including vocal and instrumental performance, acting, design, and
production—and who plan to actively participate in the fine or performing arts at
Augsburg. This renewable award of $3,000 per year is based on an on-campus audition or
presentation. Applicants need not major in art, film, music, or theatre, but are required to
participate in a student organization and/or a performance group. Applicants may apply
in more than one area of fine arts but may receive only one scholarship

Regents’ Scholarship
The Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new first-year students of high academic
achievement beginning in the fall or new Spring semester. These awards (available for up
to four years) range from $5,500 to $11,000 per year and are awarded based on national
test scores (ACT or SAT) and high school GPA. This scholarship is automatically
awarded to all qualified students who are admitted to Augsburg College before May 1 for
Fall Enrollment or December 1 for spring enrollment. No application is required for this
scholarship. Recipients are notified with acceptance of admission.

Amount: $5,500 - $11,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for fall
enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment

Transfer Regents’ Scholarship
The Transfer Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new transfer students of high academic
achievement. The renewable awards range from $4,000 to $10,000 per year and are
awarded to new transfer students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or above based
on one year or more of completed college coursework. This scholarship is automatically
awarded to all qualified students who apply and are accepted to Augsburg College before
May 1 for Fall Enrollment and December 1 for Spring. No scholarship application is
required.

Amount: $4,000 - $10,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for fall
enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (transfer students)
Recognizes academically qualified transfer students who are members of Phi Theta
Kappa, transferring into the day college program with one semester minimum
membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Recommendation is required from the Phi Theta Kappa
advisor/professor.

Amount: $2500 award for current PTK students as verified through a transcript or PTK
advisor. Deadline: Application deadline is August 1 for Fall Enrollment or December 15
for Spring Enrollment
Science Scholarships
The Courtland Agre and Theodore Hanwick Science Scholarships recognize incoming
freshmen of high academic science achievement. The renewable award of $10,000 per
year is awarded to all eligible proposed chemistry or physics majors. Students must be in
the top 30 percent of their high school class or on national tests (ACT or SAT), have a
grade point average of 3.0 or above in the proposed science major, have completed
intermediate algebra or pre-calculus, and be a full-time student in the day program. No
scholarship application is required. Students who receive a science scholarship will not
receive a Regents’ award.

Amount: $10,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall
Enrollment

Augsburg Legacy Award
The Augsburg Legacy Award program is available to fulltime day students working
toward their first bachelor’s degree, who are children or spouses of Augsburg graduates;
siblings of current Augsburg students; or children or spouses of current ELCA pastors.
No scholarship application is required. Students who qualify for both the Legacy Award
and Regents’ Scholarship or Transfer Regents’ Scholarship will receive only one award,
whichever is higher. Renewal is based on maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point
average of 2.0, measured at the end of Spring Term.

Amount: Minimum of $4,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for
Fall Enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment

Augsburg College Access Program (ACAP)
The ACAP recognizes first-year students who have graduated from high school in good
standing and who participated in college readiness program such as Admission Possible,
TRiO, or MMEP. ACAP students are assured of receiving a minimum award of $5,500
per year upon admission to Augsburg College. No scholarship application is required.
Students who qualify for the ACAP grant may also receive the Augsburg Promise award.

Amount: $5,500 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall
Enrollment
The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship
The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship recognizes all students who are members of an
ELCA congregation within the Minneapolis Area Synod, the St. Paul Area Synod, the
Southeast Minnesota Synod, or the Northwest Wisconsin Synod, which own Augsburg
through the Augsburg Corporation. The scholarships of $1,000 per year are awarded at
the point of admission. No application is necessary.

Amount: $1,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall
Enrollment

Augsburg PRIME Scholarship
Students who receive a scholarship from their Lutheran congregation will receive a match
in scholarship dollars from Augsburg up to $750 a year. Verification of the award must
be submitted to the Enrollment Center by August 1, 2009.

CLASS Mission Statement
To assist academically qualified students with disabilities to reach their individual
potential, to promote their independence, and to ensure their access to the educational
experience at Augsburg College.

CLASS Services

Questions that should be directed to the CLASS Office

-Do you have a program for students with disabilities including learning disabilities,
ADD/ADHD, and psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar? Students
may indicate they had an IEP or a 504 plan in high school. (Students with physical
disabilities should contact Sadie Curtis in the Access Center. CLASS only works with
students with cognitive-based disabilities.)
-Do you have a program for students with Asperger Syndrome/Autism?
-What are the requirements for admission to the CLASS office?
-How do I make special arrangements to take an exam with extra time AND I have a
disability?
-Scheduling entry-level assessments for students with disabilities so they can get extra
time, a low-distraction environment or other accommodations. (The information from
advising says this, but sometimes students don't see it.)

Questions that should NOT be directed to the CLASS Office

-Anything having to do with a physical disability: hearing/vision impairments,
mobility/wheelchair, other health conditions. These go to Sadie Curtis (X1749)
-Anything having to do with scholarships for students with disabilities. We just refer
them back to Fin Aid or encourage them to seek out private sources. We also sometimes
refer them to TRiO.
-Housing for students with disabilities: Sadie Curtis in Access handles special housing
requests.
-Questions about the special education department. Usually they mean the academic
major in special education, so it's a good idea to ask them for clarification.
-"I need to take an exam outside of the classroom, but I don't have a disability." CLASS
only proctors exams for students working with our office or the Access Center. Other
students need to work with their professor to make arrangements.
-Tutoring questions. All students, including CLASS students, need to email
tutor@augsburg.edu

Steps to take to secure summer housing and general information:

 ~Choose the housing arrangement that best suits your needs.
 ~Choose your roommate(s) to fill the apartment you wish to secure. In Oren Gateway,
 Luther Hall and Mortensen Hall you must fill the entire apartment or pay the single
 cost.
 ~All roommates must sign and submit a contract to secure housing.
 ~Contracts are due April 11 and must be delivered to the Anderson Residence Life
 office.
 ~If you signed a housing contract for the academic year, then you do not pay another
 $200 housing deposit.
 ~On April 23, the apartment assignments will be sent to your Augsburg campus box.
 ~Summer housing is billed in two equal installments. Prepare to make your payments
 in a timely manner or make arrangements for payment with the Enrollment Center.
 ~Every summer there are multiple projects in progress in our halls and this summer will
 be no exception. The goal of Department of Residence Life is to give you as much
 information about scheduled maintenance as possible. Watch your newsletters and
 postings for these events.
 ~The summer Residence Life housing office is located in the lobby of
 Urness/Mortensen Hall. The hours for business are 4-7p Monday-Thursday and 3-6p
 Fridays. For emergencies and after hours assistance please contact the Department of
 Public Safety at x 1717.

Mission:
Augsburg's Enrollment Center gives students the opportunity to take care of all the
"business" of college in one convenient location. At the Enrollment Center, students can
register for courses, make tuition payments, access student account information, or
request a transcript. Staff members are ready to assist you in all aspects of registration
and financing your education.
Students can also register for classes, print their schedules and view their active courses,
view their account activity, view statement archives, make a payment, request an official
transcript, view/print an unofficial transcript (grades), and request enrollment verification
online on Augnet.

Questions that should be directed to the Enrollment Office:
Questions regarding financial aid, questions about billing statements, how to make
payments, loan questions, payment plan options, how to apply for financial aid, credit

classes, discount programs, bus passes, and taking photo ID's. There might be more, but
I hope that gives you an idea of what we are able to answer. We can answer some
registration questions as well, but my preference is if that call is directed to the
Registrar's office.

Questions that should not be directed to the Enrollment Office:
Questions that we receive that should be directed elsewhere include anything from
needing to set up an appt with an Academic Advisor, Transcript requests, locating a
certain professor's phone number/office, orientation questions, admission calls, hours of
the bookstore, hours of the library, etc.

Mission:
The Registrar's Office is an integral component in Augsburg's service and support
structure. We provide a high level of service to students, faculty, and staff through
facilitating all aspects of the academic programs offered by the College. Our office goal
is to operate in a way that allows students and faculty to focus on academic, social, and
civic engagement, rather than focusing on administrative processes.
What we do:
The Registrar Office maintains the master course list, builds the course schedule for each
term, coordinates the academic calendars, and provides registration services to the
College. We are responsible for processing official transcript requests, evaluating all
transfer course work, and conducting degree audits for students nearing graduation. Staff
members also provide support to students withdrawing from college, students returning to
college after leave of absence, and students who receive Veterans Affairs education
benefits.

Mission:
Academic Advising (AA) educates students, faculty, and staff on the Augsburg
curriculum; interprets academic policies and procedures; and supports students in
achieving their educational and vocational goals. Academic Advising is grounded in
Augsburg's mission: we focus on the liberal arts, faith and reason, civic engagement, and
intentional diversity. We believe that in additional to our connection with these
principles, we also play an important role in nurturing future leaders.

Questions we do not want:

Transfer credit evaluations, transcript requests, immunization holds, requesting an
unofficial evaluation of transfer credit, and the student standing petition process &
calendar. (Those go to Registrar)

Financial aid/student account questions because finances directly affect a student’s ability
to register. So what might be thought of as an advising question (help me register) is
really a financial aid question (an accounts receivable hold is preventing registration)

Mission:
The Access Center provides support and specialized services to students with
documented physical disabilities.

The goal of the Access Center is to assist students in reaching their individual potential,

Mission:
TRiO/Student Support Services (SSS) is a relatively new program at Augsburg College.

The SSS program is one of three TRiO programs originally funded under the Higher
Education Act of 1965, whose objective is to help students overcome class, social and
cultural barriers to complete their college education. Funded by the U.S. Department of
Education, Student Support Services is committed to helping low-income, first-
generation college students, and students with disabilities achieve a bachelor's degree.

The program's mission is to increase the retention and graduation rates of these students
by offering academic and personal support.

Mission:
In 1997, the Augsburg College StepUP Program was created to address the special needs
of students in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. At that time, the resources for
recovering college students were extremely limited. The original plan for the StepUP
Program included chemical free housing, a minimum sobriety requirement, weekly
individual meetings with staff, a contract calling for standards of behavior, and a weekly
community meeting.
As of the end of the 2006-2007 school year, StepUP has served the needs of 342 students.
Four full-time staff members have contact with the students on a daily basis. The
program has graduated hundreds of students to become useful members of society and
serve in a myriad of professional capacities.
The beginning of the 2007-08 school year marks a milestone in the history of StepUP as
offices and living quarters move to a new home in the Oren Gateway Center. The new
space will allow the program to serve a significantly larger number of students. The
addition of apartment style living will encourage students to participate in StepUP for
longer periods of time and to progress into mentor and leadership roles with younger
students.

       for students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and preparation.
   •   Provide ongoing support to students in recovery who are willing and able to
       progress toward an academic degree.

Augsburg's Center for Service, Work, and Learning plays an integral role in your overall

community service experience and has developed partnerships with community

Mission:
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides patrol, parking, workplace safety,
emergency preparedness and key/lock services. Our Communications Center monitors
alarms, maintains campus camera systems, dispatches calls and handles the campus
switchboard.

What We Do:
  • Maintain a 24-hour Public Safety Service Desk
  • Provide routine public safety surveillance
  • Provide walking escort service
  • Maintain proper documentation of services
  • Process reports to appropriate offices
  • Monitor public safety, fire, and maintenance alarm systems
  • Activate assistance as necessary from the Minneapolis police, fire, or medical
     agencies
  • Monitor campus building access and campus areas by CCTV
  • Enforce campus-parking regulations
  • Work with law enforcement agencies to enforce local, state, and federal laws
  • Assist motorists with jump starts and lockouts

Mission:
A part of the Division of Institutional Advancement, the Event Planning team within the
Office of Marketing and Communication represents Augsburg College to alumni, parents,
and friends, as well as to prospective students and the general public.

Through publications, news media, the World Wide Web, and other forms of
communication, we inform all of these constituents about the high quality and diversity
of Augsburg’s programs, promote upcoming campus events, and celebrate the
achievements of our students, graduates, faculty, and staff.

Three levels of support from Event and Conference Planning:

BASIC LEVEL (I just need a room or table)
Requires 2-day notice.

We will do our best to provide you with a room appropriate to your event. Rooms are
scheduled on a first come, first served basis.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (I need a room and have additional requests)
Requires 2 weeks notice.

Contacting Event Planning at least two weeks prior to your event will allow us to provide
conference center support, in which we can: reserve and set up your room, arrange
audio/visual equipment, and provide moderate event planning assistance. Additionally,
contacting Catering/Food Service at least two weeks in advance provides quality food
and beverage service.

ADVANCED LEVEL (Planning partner)
Requires 3 months notice.

Contacting Event Planning three months (or more) in advance of your event enables us to
serve as a planning partner with you.

Let our staff help you:

   •   Determine your event’s purpose (raise funds, visibility, celebration, etc.)

Affordability:

The Augsburg MBA program consists of 12.5 credits (13 courses). The 2008-09 tuition
rate per credit is $1,927. The estimated cost of the entire program, including books and
fees, is $25,500. Financial assistance is available to degree-seeking students enrolled full
time in the MBA program. Two full-credit courses per trimester is considered full time.

Masters in Physicians Assistant Studies

The Augsburg PA Program participates in the Centralized Application Service for
Physician Assistants (CASPA), which is sponsored by the Physician Assistant Education
Association (PAEA). All applications to the PA Program for the entering class must be
processed through CASPA, following all guidelines and regulations set forth by CASPA.

Your CASPA application is DUE SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 and your Augsburg PA Studies
Supplemental Application is DUE SEPTEMBER 15, 2009. You will be an eligible applicant
if: you have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (as officially calculated by CASPA), if you
have completed or will complete your undergraduate degree prior to the start date of the
program, and if you have completed or will complete your prerequisite courses within the
timeline specified for your situation.

The Supplemental Application becomes available the first week of May each year with
the opening of the ne w application cycle. It is important for the applicant to determine
whether he or she is in fact eligible to apply to the PA Studies Program, as the $25
Supplemental Application fee is non-refundable. You are an eligible applicant if you meet
the criteria detailed above. You will be required to print and sign the Supplemental
Application and mail it to the program by the application deadline of September 15.

Since all incoming students begin the course of study in late May, the application is thus
made approximately a year before matriculation.

The master's level program is 36 months in length. Studies begin in late May of each year.

Academic Training (19 months) The first 19 months of study involve didactic, or
classroom work, including courses in human gross anatomy, pathophysiology, clinical
medicine, pharmacotherapy, history & physical exam skills, research, and professional
issues.

Clinical Training (17 months) The clinical phase of the Physician Assistant Graduate
Program is 17 months in length. The initial 12 months is designed much like a physician's
internship. Each student is required to progress through seven required rotations in the
following disciplines: family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery,
women's health, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. Each of these rotations is six
weeks long. Additionally, within that first 12 months, each student will complete six
weeks total of selected electives from disciplines such as orthopedics, ENT, dermatology,
etc.
The mission of the Physician Assistant Program at Augsburg College is to provide
underserved populations and communities in Minnesota with generalist physician
assistants providing them with much needed health care. The clinical phase of the
program is designed to effectively train students for that type of practice by placing
students in health care facilities outside the metropolitan area for a minimum of t wo
rotations. Our goal is to provide students with one to two locations in which to complete
their required rotations to take away some of the financial and travel burdens that a PA
student often faces.

The Clinical Phase culminates with a t welve week preceptorship. This preceptorship is
designed to solidify the student's primary care skills, and potentially place them in a
setting that might be interested in recruiting a graduate PA. The preceptorship may be
completed within the community that the student has been in for the required rotations, or
may be else where in the state.

The clinical education is taught by physicians, and supplemented by Physician Assistants
and other health care providers. Each student is evaluated by the physician preceptor for
the designated rotation. Nine times during the clinical phase students will return to
Augsburg for testing as well as didactic and clinical skill workshops.

Affordability:

Tuition is $2,640.00 per course for the class entering May 2009.

The following is a list of the number of courses taken per year. College fees are estimated
to be $400 per year.
Year One: 9 Course
Year Two: 7 Courses
Year Three: 8 Courses

Lab Fees and Equipment: These costs are estimated to be $600 for lab fees ($200 per
semester in the academic phase) and $800 for medical equipment.

Books and Supplies: These costs are estimated to be $1,600 for the academic phase.

PA Enrollment Deposit: $500 (non-refundable) The enrollment deposit is required of all
new PA students after acceptance, and is credited to the student’s account to be applied to
their first semester tuition.

Payments and Financial: Aid Prior to the start of each semester a statement of estimated
charges and anticipated financial aid credits is mailed to students. For information on
financial aid, payment plans, tuition refunds, and withdrawal from college, contact the
Enrollment Center.

Elective International Experiences: There is additional cost associated with the master’s
project international experience. Students who choose this as their option for the written
master’s project can expect to pay between $2000.00- $5000.00 in addition to standard
PA course tuition. Costs change dependent upon the market, international site and length
of stay.

Master of Social Work

Application Deadline:

The annual application deadline is January 15, at 5 p.m., meaning all application
components must be postmarked or in our office by that time. In the event a deadline falls
on a weekend, materials will be due the following Monday.

If you complete your application file by December 1, 5 p.m., you may be considered for a
$200 tuition voucher.

MSW applications are reviewed once a year. If admitted, you will begin the following
academic year.

Application Checklist:

~Completed and signed application form (four pages);

~Official transcripts from ALL post-secondary institutions attended;
~Three recommendation letters with checklists attached;
~Typed personal statement (and GPA explanation, if applicable to you).

Admission Requirements:

In order to be considered for MSW admission you must have: • a bachelor’s degree from
an accredited liberal arts college or university; • a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; •
completed liberal arts courses in the social sciences (four classes), humanities (three
classes), biology (one class) and statistics (one class).

Although experience is not a requirement, we give strong preference to applicants with
prior human service experience, either work or volunteer.

If you are a permanent resident, asylee or refugee who has attended a college or
university outside the United States, you may be required to submit additional application
materials. Such materials may include a Foreign Credential Evaluation and TOEFL
score.

Admission with Advanced Standing:

Advanced standing is an application category open to those who have earned a bachelor’s
degree in social work that is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Advanced standing applicants may seek waivers for a maximum of six MSW courses and
from the generalist (foundation) field internship. To receive a waiver for an MSW course
you must have achieved a grade of B (3.0) or higher in a BSW course that is equivalent in
content. (See the BSW course equivalency checklist in the application for further
explanation.) If all six courses and the internship are waived, advanced standing students
will begin their MSW program the following Winter term (January), one year after
application.

The Augsburg Master of Social Work program is a program of distinction and quality,
fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Our purpose is to
prepare social work students for advanced, professional practice in public and non-profit
agency settings. Our mission is to develop social workers for practice that promotes
social justice and empowerment toward the wellbeing of people in a diverse and global
society.

Our highly integrated curriculum provides a well-rounded, coherent education combining
social work theory, policy, practice methods, skills training, research, and evaluation
techniques. Our class sizes of 10-25 offer you individualized attention from outstanding
faculty who are internationally known for their teaching and research. Adjunct faculty are
innovative practitioners and administrators from agency-based settings.

Field placements offer challenging and rewarding experiences in both urban and rural
settings, and include opportunities in culturally diverse settings. Additionally, we offer
trips abroad to compare social services of other countries, including Slovenia and China.

As you progress through our MSW curriculum, you will learn:
~How an individual lives in and is affected by his or her environment;
~How social policies and programs affect individuals, families, communities, and society.
~To use a range of client-centered approaches to practice with client groups of all types
 and sizes.
~To apply theories and methods of practice through the field placement experience;
~The importance of practice informed by sound, scholarly research; and how to evaluate
 the effectiveness of your social work practice and of social work programs.
Masters of Arts in Nursing

Admission Requirements
Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing or have an associate’s
degree in nursing in addition to a bachelor’s degree in another discipline. The cumulative
GPA requirement for all college coursework is 3.0. Applicants must also have experience
as a registered nurse and have professional liability insurance.

Admission Process

  • Request all official academic transcripts from previously attended post-secondary
      institutions to be sent to the address below.
  • Submit three letters of recommendation addressing character and ability. Two of
      these recommendations must be from professional colleagues.

Thesis or Graduate Project
Students have two options for fulfilling their Master of Arts in Nursing final project,
which serves as the capstone of the master’s program: a graduate field project, or an
integrative master’s thesis.

The Graduate Field Project, NUR 525, is based on a self-selected issue relevant to
transcultural community health nursing, or nursing leadership. The student will focus
primarily on the application and integration of knowledge. Working with an adviser, the
student will design and/or implement and evaluate a model of advanced practice nursing
applied to solving a transcultural problem related to health inequities in a selected
community, or a nursing leadership issue.

The integrative thesis option, NUR 535, expands upon and/or extends theoretical
foundations or concepts identified in transcultural nursing, community health nursing,
and/or nursing leadership literature. The thesis project demonstrates the student’s ability
to do independent research involving the exposition of primary and secondary literature
appropriate to the topic, the collection and analysis of empirical data, and the articulation
of implications for advanced practice nursing.

  • 3. Financial Aid What can I answer? Scholarship Possibilities: President’s Scholarship The President’s Scholarship recognizes first-year students of exceptional academic ability with strong evidence of leadership potential. Eleven scholarships are awarded for amounts ranging from $18,500 up to full tuition. To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 3.5 or higher GPA in their core courses OR a 27 or greater ACT composite (or a combined SAT score of 1210 or greater). The scholarship is renewable for three years, based on academic performance. Award decisions are based on academic criteria, letters of academic recommendation, leadership activities, academic essays, and an on-campus interview. To receive this award, qualified students are required to live on campus and to participate in Augsburg’s Honors Program. Applicants are encouraged to apply for additional scholarships for which they qualify, but if a President’s Scholarship is awarded, the applicant cannot receive any other Augsburg scholarship. Amount: From $18,500 up to full tuition per year, up to four years Priority Deadline for Application: Postmarked January 15, 2009* Deadline for Application: Postmarked January 30, 2009 Scholarship Weekend: February 20-21, 2009 * Applicants who have a completed application by this date will be notified if they are a Presidential Scholarship semi-finalist by January 30, 2009. NOTE: Students who receive a President’s Scholarship are not eligible for any other Augsburg scholarship. Fine Arts Scholarships The Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes incoming students who have excelled in art, film, music, or theatre—including vocal and instrumental performance, acting, design, and production—and who plan to actively participate in the fine or performing arts at Augsburg. This renewable award of $3,000 per year is based on an on-campus audition or presentation. Applicants need not major in art, film, music, or theatre, but are required to participate in a student organization and/or a performance group. Applicants may apply in more than one area of fine arts but may receive only one scholarship

Amount: $3,000 per year Deadline for Application: Postmarked January 30, 2009, for fall semester, November 1, 2008, for spring semester Scholarship Weekend: February 20-21, 2009 Regents’ Scholarship The Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new first-year students of high academic achievement beginning in the fall or new Spring semester. These awards (available for up to four years) range from $5,500 to $11,000 per year and are awarded based on national test scores (ACT or SAT) and high school GPA. This scholarship is automatically awarded to all qualified students who are admitted to Augsburg College before May 1 for Fall Enrollment or December 1 for spring enrollment. No application is required for this scholarship. Recipients are notified with acceptance of admission. Amount: $5,500 - $11,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for fall enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment Transfer Regents’ Scholarship The Transfer Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new transfer students of high academic achievement. The renewable awards range from $4,000 to $10,000 per year and are awarded to new transfer students who have a grade point average of 3.0 or above based on one year or more of completed college coursework. This scholarship is automatically awarded to all qualified students who apply and are accepted to Augsburg College before May 1 for Fall Enrollment and December 1 for Spring. No scholarship application is required. Amount: $4,000 - $10,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for fall enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (transfer students) Recognizes academically qualified transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, transferring into the day college program with one semester minimum membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Recommendation is required from the Phi Theta Kappa advisor/professor. Amount: $2500 award for current PTK students as verified through a transcript or PTK advisor. Deadline: Application deadline is August 1 for Fall Enrollment or December 15 for Spring Enrollment
  • 5. Science Scholarships The Courtland Agre and Theodore Hanwick Science Scholarships recognize incoming freshmen of high academic science achievement. The renewable award of $10,000 per year is awarded to all eligible proposed chemistry or physics majors. Students must be in the top 30 percent of their high school class or on national tests (ACT or SAT), have a grade point average of 3.0 or above in the proposed science major, have completed intermediate algebra or pre-calculus, and be a full-time student in the day program. No scholarship application is required. Students who receive a science scholarship will not receive a Regents’ award. Amount: $10,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall Enrollment Augsburg Legacy Award The Augsburg Legacy Award program is available to fulltime day students working toward their first bachelor’s degree, who are children or spouses of Augsburg graduates; siblings of current Augsburg students; or children or spouses of current ELCA pastors. No scholarship application is required. Students who qualify for both the Legacy Award and Regents’ Scholarship or Transfer Regents’ Scholarship will receive only one award, whichever is higher. Renewal is based on maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0, measured at the end of Spring Term. Amount: Minimum of $4,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall Enrollment or December 1 for Spring Enrollment Augsburg College Access Program (ACAP) The ACAP recognizes first-year students who have graduated from high school in good standing and who participated in college readiness program such as Admission Possible, TRiO, or MMEP. ACAP students are assured of receiving a minimum award of $5,500 per year upon admission to Augsburg College. No scholarship application is required. Students who qualify for the ACAP grant may also receive the Augsburg Promise award. Amount: $5,500 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall Enrollment

The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship recognizes all students who are members of an ELCA congregation within the Minneapolis Area Synod, the St. Paul Area Synod, the Southeast Minnesota Synod, or the Northwest Wisconsin Synod, which own Augsburg through the Augsburg Corporation. The scholarships of $1,000 per year are awarded at the point of admission. No application is necessary. Amount: $1,000 per year Deadline: Accepted for admission by May 1 for Fall Enrollment Augsburg PRIME Scholarship Students who receive a scholarship from their Lutheran congregation will receive a match in scholarship dollars from Augsburg up to $750 a year. Verification of the award must be submitted to the Enrollment Center by August 1, 2009.

Usually they mean the academic major in special education, so it's a good idea to ask them for clarification. -"I need to take an exam outside of the classroom, but I don't have a disability." In Oren Gateway, Luther Hall and Mortensen Hall you must fill the entire apartment or pay the single cost. ~All roommates must sign and submit a contract to secure housing. ~Contracts are due April 11 and must be delivered to the Anderson Residence Life office. ~If you signed a housing contract for the academic year, then you do not pay another $200 housing deposit. ~On April 23, the apartment assignments will be sent to your Augsburg campus box. ~Summer housing is billed in two equal installments. Prepare to make your payments in a timely manner or make arrangements for payment with the Enrollment Center. ~Every summer there are multiple projects in progress in our halls and this summer will be no exception. At the Enrollment Center, students can register for courses, make tuition payments, access student account information, or request a transcript. Staff members are ready to assist you in all aspects of registration and financing your education. Students can also register for classes, print their schedules and view their active courses, view their account activity, view statement archives, make a payment, request an official transcript, view/print an unofficial transcript (grades), and request enrollment verification online on Augnet. Enrollment houses the following: Academic Advising Financial Aid Registrar Questions that should be directed to the Enrollment Office: Questions regarding financial aid, questions about billing statements, how to make payments, loan questions, payment plan options, how to apply for financial aid, credit refunds, scholarship questions, account holds that restrict students from registering for classes, discount programs, bus passes, and taking photo ID's. There might be more, but I hope that gives you an idea of what we are able to answer. We can answer some registration questions as well, but my preference is if that call is directed to the Registrar's office. Questions that should not be directed to the Enrollment Office: Questions that we receive that should be directed elsewhere include anything from needing to set up an appt with an Academic Advisor, Transcript requests, locating a certain professor's phone number/office, orientation questions, admission calls, hours of the bookstore, hours of the library, etc.

We provide a high level of service to students, faculty, and staff through facilitating all aspects of the academic programs offered by the College. Our office goal is to operate in a way that allows students and faculty to focus on academic, social, and civic engagement, rather than focusing on administrative processes. What we do: The Registrar Office maintains the master course list, builds the course schedule for each term, coordinates the academic calendars, and provides registration services to the College. We are responsible for processing official transcript requests, evaluating all transfer course work, and conducting degree audits for students nearing graduation. Staff members also provide support to students withdrawing from college, students returning to college after leave of absence, and students who receive Veterans Affairs education benefits.

Academic Advising is grounded in Augsburg's mission: we focus on the liberal arts, faith and reason, civic engagement, and intentional diversity. We believe that in additional to our connection with these principles, we also play an important role in nurturing future leaders.   • 18. TRiO (612)330.1311 www.augsburg.edu/triosss Mission: TRiO/Student Support Services (SSS) is a relatively new program at Augsburg College. The SSS program is one of three TRiO programs originally funded under the Higher Education Act of 1965, whose objective is to help students overcome class, social and cultural barriers to complete their college education. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Student Support Services is committed to helping low-income, first- generation college students, and students with disabilities achieve a bachelor's degree. The program's mission is to increase the retention and graduation rates of these students by offering academic and personal support.

StepUp (612)330.1405 stepup@augsburg.edu www.augsburg.edu/stepup Mission: In 1997, the Augsburg College StepUP Program was created to address the special needs of students in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. At that time, the resources for recovering college students were extremely limited. The original plan for the StepUP Program included chemical free housing, a minimum sobriety requirement, weekly individual meetings with staff, a contract calling for standards of behavior, and a weekly community meeting. As of the end of the 2006-2007 school year, StepUP has served the needs of 342 students. Four full-time staff members have contact with the students on a daily basis. The program has graduated hundreds of students to become useful members of society and serve in a myriad of professional capacities. The beginning of the 2007-08 school year marks a milestone in the history of StepUP as offices and living quarters move to a new home in the Oren Gateway Center. The new space will allow the program to serve a significantly larger number of students. The addition of apartment style living will encourage students to participate in StepUP for longer periods of time and to progress into mentor and leadership roles with younger students. What We Do: • Affirm Augsburg's commitment to provide a high-quality liberal arts education for students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and preparation. • Provide ongoing support to students in recovery who are willing and able to progress toward an academic degree. • Support students committed to sobriety.

Masters in Physicians Assistant Studies Application Deadlines: CASPA: September 1, 2009 Supplemental Application: September 15, 2009 The Augsburg PA Program participates in the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA), which is sponsored by the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). All applications to the PA Program for the entering class must be processed through CASPA, following all guidelines and regulations set forth by CASPA. Your CASPA application is DUE SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 and your Augsburg PA Studies Supplemental Application is DUE SEPTEMBER 15, 2009. You will be an eligible applicant if: you have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (as officially calculated by CASPA), if you have completed or will complete your undergraduate degree prior to the start date of the program, and if you have completed or will complete your prerequisite courses within the timeline specified for your situation. The Supplemental Application becomes available the first week of May each year with the opening of the ne w application cycle. It is important for the applicant to determine whether he or she is in fact eligible to apply to the PA Studies Program, as the $25 Supplemental Application fee is non-refundable. You are an eligible applicant if you meet the criteria detailed above. You will be required to print and sign the Supplemental Application and mail it to the program by the application deadline of September 15. Since all incoming students begin the course of study in late May, the application is thus made approximately a year before matriculation. The master's level program is 36 months in length. Studies begin in late May of each year. Academic Training (19 months) The first 19 months of study involve didactic, or classroom work, including courses in human gross anatomy, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, pharmacotherapy, history & physical exam skills, research, and professional issues. Clinical Training (17 months) The clinical phase of the Physician Assistant Graduate Program is 17 months in length. The initial 12 months is designed much like a physician's internship. Each student is required to progress through seven required rotations in the following disciplines: family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, general surgery, women's health, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. Each of these rotations is six weeks long. Additionally, within that first 12 months, each student will complete six weeks total of selected electives from disciplines such as orthopedics, ENT, dermatology, etc.

The mission of the Physician Assistant Program at Augsburg College is to provide underserved populations and communities in Minnesota with generalist physician assistants providing them with much needed health care. The clinical phase of the program is designed to effectively train students for that type of practice by placing students in health care facilities outside the metropolitan area for a minimum of t wo rotations. Our goal is to provide students with one to two locations in which to complete their required rotations to take away some of the financial and travel burdens that a PA student often faces. The Clinical Phase culminates with a t welve week preceptorship. This preceptorship is designed to solidify the student's primary care skills, and potentially place them in a setting that might be interested in recruiting a graduate PA. The preceptorship may be completed within the community that the student has been in for the required rotations, or may be else where in the state. The clinical education is taught by physicians, and supplemented by Physician Assistants and other health care providers. Each student is evaluated by the physician preceptor for the designated rotation. Nine times during the clinical phase students will return to Augsburg for testing as well as didactic and clinical skill workshops. Affordability: Tuition is $2,640.00 per course for the class entering May 2009. The following is a list of the number of courses taken per year. College fees are estimated to be $400 per year. Year One: 9 Course Year Two: 7 Courses Year Three: 8 Courses Lab Fees and Equipment: These costs are estimated to be $600 for lab fees ($200 per semester in the academic phase) and $800 for medical equipment. MSW applications are reviewed once a year. If admitted, you will begin the following academic year. Although experience is not a requirement, we give strong preference to applicants with prior human service experience, either work or volunteer. If you are a permanent resident, asylee or refugee who has attended a college or university outside the United States, you may be required to submit additional application materials. Such materials may include a Foreign Credential Evaluation and TOEFL score. Admission with Advanced Standing: Advanced standing is an application category open to those who have earned a bachelor’s degree in social work that is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Advanced standing applicants may seek waivers for a maximum of six MSW courses and from the generalist (foundation) field internship. To receive a waiver for an MSW course

The cumulative GPA requirement for all college coursework is 3.0. Applicants must also have experience as a registered nurse and have professional liability insurance. Admission Process • Complete an admission application • Submit a 2-3 page typed statement describing professional and education goals • Request all official academic transcripts from previously attended post-secondary institutions to be sent to the address below. • Submit three letters of recommendation addressing character and ability. Two of these recommendations must be from professional colleagues. Thesis or Graduate Project Students have two options for fulfilling their Master of Arts in Nursing final project, which serves as the capstone of the master’s program: a graduate field project, or an integrative master’s thesis. The Graduate Field Project, NUR 525, is based on a self-selected issue relevant to transcultural community health nursing, or nursing leadership. The student will focus primarily on the application and integration of knowledge. Working with an adviser, the student will design and/or implement and evaluate a model of advanced practice nursing applied to solving a transcultural problem related to health inequities in a selected community, or a nursing leadership issue. The integrative thesis option, NUR 535, expands upon and/or extends theoretical foundations or concepts identified in transcultural nursing, community health nursing, and/or nursing leadership literature. The thesis project demonstrates the student’s ability to do independent research involving the exposition of primary and secondary literature appropriate to the topic, the collection and analysis of empirical data, and the articulation of implications for advanced practice nursing.
