There is a need for new financial models for sustainable development as state-led growth is no longer feasible. International case studies demonstrate models that link growth with livability through compact development, integrated transport, and climate resilience. These cases achieved medium-term returns through public-private partnerships, development institutions, and community involvement in places where people want to live and work. The document recommends a public-private-community partnership model to overcome financial and sustainability challenges through collaboration between the public, private and third sectors.
