In a new battle in the copyrights and trademark sector the Ohio State University has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit with the United States District Court for the District of Ohio against Las Vegas gaming company Caesars Entertainment Corp., for infringing its ‘The Shoe’ Trademark. In its defense the University has argued that granting ‘The Shoe’ trademark to Caesars Entertainment could violate our existing IP rights and we condemn company’s approach to come up with such a trademark in its entirety. The University also said granting Caesars the trademark would damage the school "since such registrations are likely to cause confusion, mistake or deceive," and lead people to assume Ohio State endorses the casino's services. Earlier, Ohio State University filed its opposition to a trademark sought by Caesars Entertainment Corp for "The Shoe," the name of the concert venue at the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati. Caesars has many hotels and casinos with the "Horsehoe" branding but is seeking to trademark "The Shoe" for use in relation to "entertainment services" such as live concerts
