2. Today we are going to learn about a living organism
called a fish. Three things we are going to learn about
are:
What Will We Learn?
1.
Fish Body Parts
2.
Where They Live
3.
What They Eat
3. Fish are living organisms. Like humans, they have a lot of
body parts that do different things. The three basic body
parts of a fish are:
1. Gill
2. Fin
3. Scales

4. Take a deep breath and blow it out. What body part
did you use? You used your lungs.
Unlike humans, fish do not have lungs. Instead they
use their gills to breath. A fish opens and closes it’s
mouth to take in water. Oxygen is found in the water.

5. Take your finger and rub the back of your other hand.
What do you feel? This is your skin.
Unlike humans, a fish body is covered in scales. The
scales protects the fish skin from harm.

6. Fins help fish move through out the water. Some fins
are located on the top of the fish body while others are
located on its tail. Fins are made of bones and are very
flexible.

Lets Think About It
Which letter shows the picture of the Fish?
8. YES, This is a Fish
Its actual name is a shark but it is still a fish because
it lives in the water, has gills, fins, and scales.

9. A. B.
Lets Think About It
Which letter shows the picture of the Fish?
10. Yes, This is a Fish
This is a fish because it lives in the water, has gills, fins,
and scales.
11. Environment
Unlike people, fish live in water. It does not matter the
size of the water. You may find fish in a pond, in the
backyard, or a big body of water such as a river or
ocean.
Now that we can identify a fish, lets learn
about where fish live.
12. Some people keep fish as a pet. These fish are placed
inside of a fishbowl or aquarium. The most common
aquariums are in zoos. Have you ever saw fish in a zoo?
To keep fish as pets, the owner has to feed the fish and
keep their environment clean.

13. Time to Eat
Fish that live in the ocean, river, or ponds eat other fish
Worms, and algae. Algae is like a plant. But most often a
big fish will eat the medium fish and a medium fish will
eat a smaller fish.
So far we have learned how to identify a fish and
where fish live. Now lets talk about what fish eat.

owners give them fish food.
