To whom it may concern:
WHY ME? No, it’s not an excuse for failure. It is a belief why I can help the students of
your learning community. I have reached a point in my career where I possess knowledge,
experience, and youth. I see this as not only a crucial time in my career, but also in my life. I
have been teaching for seventeen years and earned Master’s degrees from Ashland University
(Curriculum and Instruction) and Cleveland State University (Sociology). My capstone research
projects included the topics of school violence and racial/ ethnic inequalities. In short, I am
looking for a school that I can be proud of, and accordingly, improve.
I believe I have shown the ability to adapt, improve, and supplement the lives of my
students. I have shown the ability to attempt new teaching methods, implement cross-curricular
activities, and embrace technology, including Blackboard online testing, Word programs (Excel,
Powerpoint, etc), youtube clips and other media sources. I use a variety of teaching techniques
including lectures, presentations, media clips, cooperative learning, research projects, and current
events to ensure a diversified learning experience relevant to all cultures and learning styles. I
have served on curriculum committees, teacher evaluation committees, developed end of the
course exams and coached a variety of sports (at the high school and collegiate levels). I have
experience working with students with special needs, as well as diverse populations.
Additionally, I have experience working with college athletes, and a working knowledge of
NCAA rules and regulations.
My recent experience as an adjunct professor had allowed me to realize what I believe to
be my true calling. I believe the college experience is crucial for the development of a
community and the individuals in that community.
In short, I feel that I can make a difference in the lives of the students in your community.
Please feel free to contact me at any time for additional materials or questions you may have.
Thank you for your valuable time.
Sincerely,
Timothy Spatz
