The first Hydra Awards were presented at the Open Repositories 2013 Conference on Prince Edward Island on July 11, 2013. There were three award categories: The Fleece Vest for practicality and iconoclastic flair, which was awarded to David Chandek-Stark; Most Danish for Danish temperament as determined by experts, which went to Matt Zumwælt; and Most Danish (sic) for greatest Dan-ness, which was won by Dan "of the Dans" Coughlin.
