Toyota and BMW join forces to deliver a new sports car
1. Toyota and BMW join forces to
deliver a new sports car!
You might have heard that Toyota and BMW have joined forces to work on different
projects together. Here are just a few things that these two companies are working on:
Fuel cell systems
Lightweight technology to use in sports vehicles
Better batteries (such as a lithium-air battery that has greater energy density)
Toyota of Orlando understands that another exciting development might arise from the
collaboration of these two companies, though. Rumor has it that Toyota might bring
back the Supra, and BMW would help make this comeback happen!
2. Get ready for an all-new Supra!
If Toyota does end up bringing the Supra back, it’s said that this vehicle would follow the
drive design of the 2013 Scion FR-S in Orlando. However, some modifications would be
made to this auto that would be a result of the collaboration between Toyota and BMW.
Toyota would be responsible for the driving platform, while BMW is supposed to
develop its suspension and handling.
The goal is to create a new driving platform for the sports car, which would
enable it to handle not just more power, but also a variety of engines.
Right now the Supra might receive a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
It’s possible that the new Supra would be equipped with a hybrid drivetrain that
delivers around 400 horsepower!
Clearly a lot of exciting developments are taking place. It’s unsure when exactly the
Supra will be available for drivers to own again, but a concept car might be revealed at
the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, with the final product available as early as 2017!
