2. What is RefWorks A web-based product that simplifies the process of documenting sources in a research paper, dissertation, or other project requiring references. It helps you to create and manage collections of references using a web browser, to import references from a number of online databases, and to create bibliographies that can be inserted into word processing documents.
5. Create a RefWorks Account It’s important to do this initially from the library homepage only Make sure the grey box reads RefWorks User login for Ohio Northern University Click on Sign up for an individual account
6. Create a RefWorks Account Fill in the blanks and a Congratulations window will appear. You are ready to begin importing citations

8. Exporting and Importing Citations Many of the databases available at ONU support importing citations from RefWorks. All Ebsco databases do as do most OhioLINK databases and Proquest databases. The new library catalog will export to RefWorks as well.

10. Exporting from EBSCO databases Click on Choose databases tab to get a complete list of all databases indexed through Ebsco
11. Exporting Citations – Ebsco After you’ve completed a search on one (or more) of the Ebsco databases 1. From the Result List, click Add (to folder) for the records you want to import.
12. Exporting Citations - Ebsco 1 Articles will be added to the Folder at the top of the page. 2 Click on the Folder to see its contents.
13. Exporting Citations - Ebsco Select the citations you want to export by checking the box next to the citation. Then, click on Export in the right-hand menu to export the citations.
14. Exporting Citations - Ebsco Choose Direct Export to Refworks. Check Remove the items from folder after saving if you want to clear your folder. Click Save.
15. Importing Ebsco to Refworks 1. Enter your login name. 2. Enter your password. 3. Click Login.
16. Importing Ebsco to RefWorks The RefWorksImportReferences page will open. RefWorks will prompt with Import completed when it is finished. Click View Last Imported Folder to view your references.
18. Importing Ebsco to RefWorks 1. RefWorks will display references in the Last Imported Folder window. 2. For information about searching and sorting your citations or about creating and organizing folders click the RefWorks HELP link, or for information about downloading citations from different databases, see the RefWorks help links in the library's database lists (see second image below). 3. Click the Find It button to see if an article is available in full-text, print or microform format.
