Session Description How do you get the learner involved in the discovery of learning ideas? How do you ensure the learner is paying attention? PUSH THE LEARNERS TO THE EDGE. It may sound unorthodox, but this how people learn best – being on edge, rushing to get things done, stretching one’s capacity to overcome an obstacle. These are traits of an active learner. The challenge is how to structure a learning environment which constantly pushes the learners to the edge? In this session, you will learn how games are designed to have escalating pressures and tensions that engage the learners. Topics to be covered: What basic rules guide the design of high-pressure and high-discovery learning games? How do you use stories to super-charge the tension and escalation of the learner’s discovery experience? How do you pitch the learner into a game so content is learned while playing it? How do you add surprises, intrigues, tensions, twists, and curiosity – passion in the learner to play the game? Participants will see demos and examples of story-driven games About Ray Jimenez, Ph.D. Ray Jimenez, Ph.D., spent 15 years with Coopers & Lybrand in the areas of management consulting and implementation of learning technology solutions.
