1. Costume Ideas for music magazineI have chosen to use magazines in my hip-hop magazine that will reflect the genre.
The reason why I have chose to use this is for the audience to spot a link between
hip-hop and the costume which I will be wearing.
This jumper screams hip-hop. Hip-hop artists
tend to be associated with drugs, crime and
mischief and this jumper cleverly represents
this: ‘IF YOU SEE THE POLICE WARN A
BROTHER’. This is related to hip-hop in terms
of the type of clothing the artists wear and the
respect they have for each other. It shouts
urban youth.
This womens ‘Atlanta’ cap is a typical use of
iconography which reflect the genre. The
reason why i have chose to use a purple cap
to wear in in the magazine is because the
magazine is mainly purple and by continuing
the colour scheme, it will make the magazine
look more effective. Purple also connotes
royalty, wealthand luxury which reflect the
genre as hip-hop artists show their success in
wealth in the magazines.
2. These air force trainers are very ‘hip-hop’ like.
They signify the hip-hop genre as hip hop
artist are known for their vibrant uses of colour
and their very trendy fashion sense. The use
of multiple colours connote, fun, excitement
and individualism’.
These gold print jeans are typical of hip-hop
artists as although I have chosen not to
include chains in my magazine, I am still using
the convention as I have decided to wear goldprint skinny jeans.
These butterfly effect jeans which I will be
wearing in the double-page spread shout ‘hip
hop’. The uses of colours are effective and
suitable for the magazine as it shows trendy
style and fashion.
