Uttan village has one of the cleanest beaches on the coast of the Arabian Sea, with a predominantly Koli Christian community whose main occupation is fishing. Upon entering Uttan, you see large fishing trawlers and smell drying fish as Koli women sort and prepare fish and large rice flatbreads. The beach is pollutant-free so the fish caught there is very good quality and tasty. There are also beautiful Gothic bungalows and small roadside shrines featuring Jesus and Mary, and boats named after Christian saints.
