Your system should be in standby mode. When in standby mode, pressing any key or grasping the remote control will wake up the system. An incoming call will also wake up the system. If the system does not respond, make sure the system is switched on by using the On/Off switch located at the rear of the Codec (see figure below). After a few seconds you should see a start-up message on the monitor. If this does not help, verify that your monitor is switched on. To switch the monitor on you normally push the power button on the front of the monitor (depending on monitor type). 3-1 Getting Started Making a Call ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Auto : 6B on ISDN/768Kbps on LAN Max: 12B on ISDN/2Mbps on LAN 12 ch : 768 Kbps 8 ch : 512 Kbps 6 ch : 384 Kbps 5 ch : 320 Kbps 4 ch : 256 Kbps 3 ch : 192 Kbps 2 ch : 128 Kbps 1 ch : 64 Kbps Telephone : Place Audio Call HO: PRO Only – 1XHO (384 Kbps) ,[object Object],Line Speed Translator On/Off Switch

You can simultaneously send a second video source by placing a Duo Video Call and pressing the YELLOW Quick Key. To disconnect a point-to-point video call, press the disconnect button. The call will immediately disconnect.
3-4 Adjusting Audio Adjusting Cameras Press the Mic Off button on the remote control to mute your microphones. You will get an indication on the screen that you microphones are muted. Press the Volume keys to adjust the volume level. An on-screen indicator will show the current level. NOTE: It is important that you use the system Volume control keys and not the monitor remote control. Too high volume setting may result in echo being experienced by the far end of a videoconference. The Main Camera can be controlled by the remote control. If another PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) camera has been connected to your system via the Aux port, you can also control that one as well. To control PTZ cameras: ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Camera Presets ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
3-5 Using the Tracker ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Controlling the Far End Cameras Press the Far End key until the Far End Camera on-screen indicator is displayed. For this feature to operate the far end must support ‚Far end camera control™ (H.281). While activated, you will be able to control the far end’s camera (pan/tilt/zoom/focus) and presets. Through Voice Activated Camera Positioning and the use of two or three microphones, the camera will automatically view the speaker. Setup Before using camera tracking, the camera positions used must be stored at presets P7 (Mic1), P8 (Mic2) and/ or P9 (Mic3). Example: The camera position stored at P7 must be related to Mic1, therefore all participants which are located closest to Mic1 should be included in the P7 camera position etc. When camera tracking is activated and a person close to Mic1 speaks, P7 will be automatically selected. If a person close to Mic1 has a conversation with a person close to Mic2, the camera will adjust to a camera position which includes both persons. Activating Enable Camera Tracking by pressing the P button on the remote control and then selecting the GREEN Quick Key. An on-screen indicator CamTrackOn will appear. When activating another video source (e.g. document camera), camera tracking will temporarily be disabled until you select MainCam or a MainCam preset. Pressing MIC OFF will temporarily disable camera tracking. A Voice Detector makes the system more tolerant against noise and the camera will normally not be moved by noise like paper shuffling etc. Deactivating Disable Camera Tracking by: * moving the camera manually. * activating a MainCam preset when MainCam is already activated. * disconnecting the call. An on-screen indicator CamTrackOff will appear. Note: The Start Camera Tracking entry will be grayed out if not using the W.A.V.E. Camera. Automatic Camera Tracking
[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],3-6 Displaying/ Transmitting Video Sources PC Presenter Snapshot Self view/ Picture In Picture Plugging a PC into the system is made extremely simple through the PC Presenter, a direct access plug on the front of the cabinet, avoiding the need for any additional hardware such as a projector, PC/Video converter or extra cables. Press the SELFVIEW key to see your own picture (the outgoing image during a call). Pressing it again will remove your self view from the monitor. If you have a dual monitor system, pressing the SELFVIEW key will ( in a call ) toggle between your self view and the last sent or received still image on the dual monitor. Press the MOVE PIP key to move your SELFVIEW as Picture-in-Picture to different corners of the screen or switch it off. To display or transmit between the 5 possible video inputs, press the buttons: The document camera & VCR must be manipulated via their own controls. They cannot be controlled through the remote control or with the software. When a still image is sent, received or requested, it will be stored in the graphics memory. When a new image is sent or received, the old image will be erased. When disconnecting the call, the image will be erased. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
3-7 Duo Video ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],To end a Duo Video call, press DISCONNECT . Select if you want to disconnect only the Duo Video connection or the whole connection. Multipoint Conferences The system has a built-in multipoint conference unit (MCU), MultiSite, which has the capability to establish meetings with up to 4 sites. The MultiSite supports both Voice Switched and Continuous Presence mode. The sites in a conference must be connected using the same bandwidth. Establishing a conference is done by first making a call to one site. When a call is established with the first site, the other sites are connected one by one. It is possible to either dial out to the sites or the sites can dial in to the MultiSite.
3-8 Placing a Multipoint Call Using the Dial Out Method First establish a normal point-to-point call. It is recommended to plan the channel usage before making the first call so that you do not run out of bandwidth. Example: If the system has 8 channels available and you want to connect 3 sites in addition to the host, 2 channels should be selected for the first call. The system will then automatically use 2 channels when connecting the other sites. When the first site is connected, add a site to the conference by following the procedure: 1. Press CONNECT to bring up the following menu: 2. Press the GREEN Quick Key to bring up the MultiSite dial menu. 3. Enter the number to call. The Quality will be the same as used by the first call. 4. Press CONNECT. Add Site Add Duo Video Back Using the Dial In Method To dial in to the MultiSite, you must know the numbers to each of ISDN BRIs Site 1 must dial Lint Number 1. Site 2 must dial Line Number 2. Site 3 must dial Line Number 3. OR If using an ISDN PRI, the far sites dial the normal ISDN-PRI number of the system. All sites must dial the same number. To find the ISDN line numbers, press the Menu button and go to Diagnostics and View Current Settings When the MultiSite receives an incoming call, the following menu is displayed: Use the Quick Keys to enter the appropriate response, OR: Pressing CONNECT will be equivalent to pressing Accept Pressing DISCONNECT will be equivalent to pressing Reject Pressing Do Not Disturb will disable the MultiSite from answering more incoming calls during the current conference. The calling party will receive a busy signal.
A Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) enables several sites to participate in the same conference. An MCU conference can have different modes: Voice Switched means that the image of the person currently speaking will be broadcast to all the other conference participants. This will remain the case until another participant starts to speak. Continuous Presence shows several participants on the same screen at the same time. Request floor When requesting the floor, the MCU will broadcast your video in full screen to all other participants in the conference. If the MCU conference has a chairman, a floor request is sent to the chairman. You will remain “On Air” until either you select Release Floor or the chairman decides to release the floor to another participant. Release floor You choose Release Floor to take you “Off Air”. You should do this when you wish to make the flooravailable to the other participants in the conference. Terminal Names Allows you to see the site numbers or name (if supported) of other sites connected in the conference. View site # Allows you to view any participant in the conference other than the participant currently “On Air”. End view Allows you to stop viewing the site previously chosen with View Site # , and returns your view to the site that is currently “On Air”. 3-9 Disconnecting a MultiPoint Call If you are in a multi-point call, you will see the following screen when the disconnect button is pressed: Use the arrow keys to select the site you would like to disconnect and press the OK button or the GREEN quick key. To disconnect the entire call, select Terminate Meeting and press the OK button or press the YELLOW quick key. MCU Services To get to the MCU Services Menu, Press the Menu button on the remote control and select MCU Services from the list of choices.
3-10 Chair Control Chairman Control functionality enables one participant to control the meeting by selecting which of the conference participants is to be broadcast to the other participants. This option is not supported in a Tandberg MultiSite Meeting – It is available only when connected to and external MCU that supports Chair Control (H.243). Chair control You select Chair Control and Take Chair to assume the role of chairman of the meeting. Chair Control provides considerable conference management functions. As chairman, you may control which site you and the other sites see. Take chair Allows you to request chairmanship of the conference. If no one else is currently chairman the MCU will give you the chair. Release chair Allows you to relinquish the privileges of chairmanship of the conference. Floor to site # Allows the chairman to select which of the conference participants is to be broadcast to all other participants. Release Floor Allows the chairman to release the floor. Disconnect site # Allows the chairman to disconnect any participant in the conference. Terminate meeting Allows the chairman to terminate the conference altogether. Powering Down The system is shut down by turning off the power to the CODEC.
