Introduction
• Composed in 1600 AD by Meppattur Bhattathiri in praise of Lord
Narayana/Krishna at Guruvayoor Temple,to get rid of his
debilitating arthritic ,ailment ,”Narayaneeyam” is a solid
expression of Intense Devotion.
• Needless to say,Bhattathiri was fully cured at the end of the
composition.
• Comprising of 100 Dasakas,each dasaka having 10 Stanzas,the
composition is a recapitulation of the Entire Mahabhagavatham!

Oh Condensed-bliss!, soulmind-pristine,
Unequalled, eternal, unfettered by space-time,
Illumined by endless vedic hymns,
Unpalpable first ,but as the means
of salvation thy free form reins
in Guruvayoor ,as the humanity’s fortune

Even as this bountiful Lord is freely available,
Laity serve other dieties by body, word or soul
What a sham , debasedness so foul!
But our mind is firm in ,our Lord of the world,
Guruvayoorappan , to awash sorrows of one and all

That Thou art borne of purity unsullied by opposites
is known from many of Vyasa’s holy scripts
When thy form shine in the joyous mind untaint
there occurs meditation and merger of it in the mind,
,and saintly souls live merged in glorious form of thine

Oh Lord! The unmoving,the eternally perfect as the elixir of Bliss
The sea of salvation for the saintly souls of stainless holiness
its effulgence deemed saintly as shiny, dancing waves of the ocean,
Lord!Thou art of unequalled Grace is true of thy incarnation!

• Oh Lord !Thou art non-causal,nor transmigratory in thy stature
Yet,Maya wakes up for creation as thy latent ,primeval nature
At the start of eons by thy chance glances on it and, overtures
Oh Lord of Vaikuntha, this delusive emanation from thee
Cannot trammel thy divine knowledge-acts as you assume
this nature by embracing its pure inner essence unconsumed

• Oh Ethereal Embodiment of divinity so joysome
Slighting the Cumuls clouds or ironwood blossoms
Revealed to thy devotees as the incarnate holiness
As playmate of Laxmi, all endowments’ goddess
Raining the nectar of beatitude in the devotees minds
I meditate on thy form, all times so pristine !

• Oh Lord the Ever Victorious !
Thy creations are so misery laden,so I thought
and with hardships to souls on their earthly sojourns ,
No more do I think so, for ,if thou stops such indulgences
how else could the embodied swim the ocean of bliss across
experiencing thy graceful form with their eyes and ears ?

Oh Lord, the Killer of worldly woes !
You reach for those who bow to you
granting them objects of desire n’ salvation
though they don’t pray for these even in notion
Thou art indeed a wish-yielding tree
Yet laity long for Indra- Kalpadaru’s vainglory !!

• Other deities bless earthlings out of mercy
but you give away yourself to the devotee’s fancy
Others reign as Gods for their command on elements
But you rule all the gods ,souls and minds
Blessed souls merge in thy magnificence in glee

• Lord ! On thy sun- eclipsing crown I meditate,
forehead adorned by gopi , eyes mercy-wet,
nose that matches a warming smile beadlet
cheeks glistening with the sheen of thy earlets
flower and pearl garlands with Kausthubham
and the divine mark on thy chest as Srivatsam

Lord I pray on thy divine four-armed form
with conch, discus,mace and lotus-blossom
adorned by bracelet,bangles ,bejewelled rings
golden sash and the silken,yellow girdling
and your glowing lotus-feet, for my relying

• Thy holiness is most splendorous in the three-worlds whorl
more enchanting than the enchantment sources of all
sweeter of the sweetest,beautiful and wondorous than all
and Lord who cannot to be charmed by such a divine will ?

Laxmi has embraced thy nectarine form so deep
And she dare not any moment to part with thee
To bless her own assiduous ,ardent devotees
Oh fickleless Lord her attention to you is steady
she is named fickle,as to them she is never ready

• Oh Lover Of Laxmi ! another charge I cite on their behalf;
as she is bound by your charm to her as your better half
She is naturally present in the hearts of your devotees
who are engrossed in praising and meditation of thy glories!

an elixir, pregnant with its charm and nectarine bliss
bending the mind of devotees who for thee yearns
and get sodden wholly by the flood of cold tears

Superior so say the saints is the Path of devotion
to that of duty or of enlightenment for salvation
Oh Lover of Laxmi with charm as thy divine quality
easy it is to attain it thro’ ardent devotion by humanity

It is impossible for all to follow well-nigh
regiments of karmayoga ardently so-high
And upanishads proclaim the other routes
unclear allround and less traversed by hearts
devotion to you solely is rewarding and sweet

• Through the regimen of rituals many attain
from devotion or duty a name or acclaim
and others by the path of wisdom, what avail
without ever getting the subtle mind so refined
after plodding fervently for a weary long time
then meditate on your neutral form for salvation
attained after countless cycles of transmigration

• Devotion to you is not at all so arduous
attained by immersion in elixir- of -bliss
of thy tales and buoying the mind with ease
in enlightenment on the path of salvation
supreme, compared, is being in thy devotion.
Lord ! Bless me swift with a mind so soft
solely by a love of thy Lotus-feet aloft !

Bhakthi Yoga and Nature Of
Devotees

• Oh Lord ! The bestower of all blessings !
There are those who chant in joy thy names
and those who in thy ocean of joy immerse
meditate on thy magnificent form beauteous
and minstrels singing thy glories in unison
like nomads blissful solely on thy vision
and all have hence fulfilled their desires
uniquely fortunate, so my mind says

• Oh Vishnu ! Afflicted by diseases and travails deep
my mind is callous to doing services at thy Lotus-feet
Tut ! Tut! Have mercy on me for living thro’ the bliss
in worshipping thy lotus feet and singing thy glories
and spend my entire life lonely so in a faraway land !

What is so farfetched for an embodied soul
with thy blessing ,ending my miseries is a trifle ?

• won, for thy Lotus-feet, o’er their torments on liberation
• wafted aloft engross’d in endless torrent of bliss
• Unbound in thy discreet beacon on their own selves

those miseries no more in me tense
on that, I have not an iota’ of doubt
else words of Vyasa who smritis wrote
and of yours n’ of veda’s come to nought
as a tongue lashing blabbermouth idiot

with billowing bliss as final fete

that I can reach thy temple in all haste
and enable my hands for thy pooja rites
bless me too with zest and taste so loft
that my eyes can sense your form blest!

Are immersed in thy yogic transcendence
to carry our mind form of your reflectance
resulting from a long meditational practice

Meditating thy form complete with all divine signs
In the mind and burning the sins of the soul therein
thy bliss-filled absoluteness do the sages experience

Oh Juggernaut,we rely on such meditative unification
With thyself caused by the delighting vision till shaken
When we follow yogic meditative awareness unshaken

Thus make us move with the crown-jewels of yore
In devotion such as Narada & Suka Rishi’s sure
Reaching a contemlpative bliss by practice thorough
For sighting your magnificent lordliness so pure !

• Oh Lord Eternal ! One who attains merger
• Once with thee craves salvation later
• Raises the pranic force up its six doors
• On the ethereal tube along the spinal cord

• Without any cravings further,later one day
• He dissolves in you leaving the body
• Souls desiring tp live in celestial spheres
• Leaces through the skull cap sans cares

• Supported by demigods of fire,day-time,bright fortnight
• During northern course of sun,thy deep devotees depart
• Reaching the sun world for limitless indulgence there
• Till fed up when they depart for the world of pole star

• Over a time when by the troubling heat
• From the firy face of Ananta thy attendant
• They reach the heaven of Brahma-World

• There in Brahma-Loka they abide
• Or in Vaikuntha your heavenly abode
• To attain liberation at the end of world
• piercing universal egg , some as egged,
• dissolves in thy supreme self for good

• Oh Lord ! They enter breaking the seven sheaths of universe-egg
• Earth,waterfire air,space,divine principle,or the divine ego,agog
• correspondingly on each layer,finally reach,sheathless your abode
• With your blessing and bliss incomparable to any other mode

• Oh Lord of the universe he who attains total liberation
• Does in such ways through worship , without transmigration
• Oh Lord Of Eternal Bliss save me,singing thy paens in passion

• During the primordial deluge your Self functioned
• As ,existence-bliss and light of all-consciousnes
• When the force of creation-sustenance- dissolution
• Were null and void and yet the great nature-illusion
• Was latent in you,the material world was unknown
• Tthere was still no creation,death or even salvation
• and there was no distinction between dusk and dawn

Oh Lord ! That, Time,Dutiesand Qualities
Cohorts of souls and the whole universe
were dissolved in you as latent potence
cant be questioned as the world of today’s
cant spring forth without that primieval base
creating all from none,like ethereal flowers

• When two half cycles were on way just done
as you then willed to do the act of creation
manifest in yourself, the root cause of illusion
qualities such as time,all nature and its actions
blossomed and supported the Nature’s illusions

• Despite Maya,thou art untouched by it,
• as mere witness to all,so say the learnt
• Souls , maya- reflections ,that thou art
• Post deluge as Time and else,arose by it
• Intelligence created by Maya as thy agent
• was born as “MahatTatvam”, principle -grant

Though of Trivariance,Sign of Mahat Tatvam is purity
Immobilising souls through the will powerof serenity
Oh Lord! Though this Mahat Tatvam is of Trivariancy
It creates the principle of ego with attributes of duties
Different for each souls run by darkened forces mostly

• The Principle of ego with purity,passion,or perversion attained
• Made as underlying trigon of qualities well everywhere sustained
• The Purity Part of the Universal Ego had,Gods thus created
• Space,air,sun,ocean,Aswinis,Prajapati,and Indra the Gods’ God
• And , Mitra,Moon,Brahma,Siva,Kshetrajna and Upendra contained

• Oh Lord ! There arose an an aliquote of your Purity so perfect
• As Mind with individual ego,consciousness,cognition and intellect
• From Passion arose sensory-motor elements of ten different intent
• And from Perversion arose sound as a fragment of thy power infinite

• From the Primeval word Aum you created space
• From that sense of touch,and wind from these
• Then form ,light,taste,water,odour, universe
• With each element mothering the next in series
• Oh Lord Of Lakshmi Devi, You created all these
• Out of your “Power of Perversion”, I hail thee!

• The Cohorts of gods and the elements of Nature you created
• Were powerless to create the Cosmic-egg,Brahmanda to wit
• Praised by Indra ,the God of Gods,these elements you entered
• And fusing these with all elements and the senses you stimulated
• The creation of the eternal Golden Egg,as it were so brightened

• A thousand heavenly years elapsed under the water element
• And you spanned the cosmic-egg as the cosmic man incumbent
• Covering the fourteen ethereal worlds fro bottom to top most
• You flaunted your limbs as that of the cration you put forth
• Eternally holding all souls together ethereally ,you shone forth
• Oh ! Guruvayoorappa ! With such a might cure me henceforth !

• Oh Cosmic Lord Spanning the fourteen ethereal worlds
• Patala is covered by thy feet as per Savant’s wise words
• Lord Of Light!,Rasa Tala has thy top of your feet ,covered
• And Mahatala covered ,by the shank of your legs so said

• Of the fourteen ethereal worlds Talatala covered by your calves
• Sutala by your knees ,Vitala your thighs and earth by thy waist
• Sky is thy navel and heaven is thy chest Oh Wielder of Discus !

• Maharloka is thy neck Janaloka the face
• Tapoloka is forehead ,Satyaloka,head
• Lord engulfing the known-u known world ,
• I bow to thee with thy thy torso-filled world !

• Oh Lord the Cause of this universe !
Vedas emanate at the holy orifice
on your head’s top, clouds ,hairlocks
for thee and Brahmaloka the eyelashes

• Your glances are the creative force in the universe
• Directions are thy ears,Aswini ods are your Nostrils
• Thy upper lip is cupidity and lower one modesty
• Gleaming teeth, stars Canine is Yama the deadly

• Oh the Omnipotent !Thy smile is Maya the illusory Nature
• Water is thy tongue,birds thy words,and wind thy breath
• The syllables the saints,mouth is fire,hands are Gods
• And thy chest is shining as the Gods of Duty and ethics

• Oh Lotus Eyed Lord !Thy buttocks is evil act
• Moon , mind ,Lotus heart is Nature-abstract
• Ocean is Stomach,dawn and dusk thy clothes
• Thy genitals is Brahma and Mitra is scrota

• Thy waistline represents all known animals
• and the toes of Elephant,horse and Camel
• Oh The Ocean Of Mercy ! The four classes
• arise from thy Feet ,Chest ,Thigh and Face
• As Workmen,Professionals,Leaders and Priests

• Oh Lord weilding the Discus,thy transactions
• Are the cycles of the universe, the Demoniac
• Hordes are thy valour, mountains , bones
• Veins the rivers and trees as such, thy hairs
• Lord ! Let me be filled by Such form of yours !

• Oh Lord ! Your Such Universal form, It is said
• is apt to be meditated forever by Duty-Bound
• during the end of their earthly tenure, to unbind.
• Oh Guruvayoorappa! Soul of the Universe !
• Purity Ultimate!,I bow again and again to thee.
• Oh Lord !Cure me off all my ailments in a giffy !!

• Oh Lord Of Light ! After manifesting as the fourteen- world
• You shone forth by thy will at the top,the Truth World
• As Brahma,the creator,the soul of the Cosmic Lord
• the Golden hiranyagarbha egg spanning three worlds
• With growing passion desirous of indulging in Creations

• That Brahma, desirous of creation in the world
• Not seeing unity in you ,nor the know-how,snivelled
• When you exhorted “do penance”,” in ways gentle
• In the ears of Brahma through thy Voice ethereal

• In a universe that was covered by the primordial water
• “Who says so?” saying, Brahma peeked into the Quarters
• Yet to no avail,perceived he the sense of the formless oracle
• And did he the penance for a millennium till he later awoke
• To see Vaikuntha thy eternal abode ,beyond worlds nether

• Oh Lord !Vaikuntha is untouched by thy illusory Nature
• Of being,becoming and existing at the boundary ,outer
• Sadness,Anger,Fantasies,Or even the State of Fear
• Ne’er haunt it,filled by thy effulgent bliss of light-eternal
• Flooded by such light,Brahma,saw the abode -magnificent

• In thy world reign four-armed ,saphire-blue deities
• All,divine forms,adorned by sparkiling jewels,seated
• And Shining in effulgent homes purely celestial
• Reaching the ultimate state through devotion purest
• Hail thy world eternal,devoid of sins and impiety !

• In thy Vaikuntha abode, celestial maids so attended
• Goddes Lakshmi with enchanting spell of lightning
• Across all directions, is at thy feet gently prostrating
• For iits charm; Lord ! Let me too bow there at your feet !

• In such Vaikuntha World,seated in the throne of Diamond
• and shining forth with Sri Vatsa and Kausthubha, like tens
• of millions of suns ,as the root source of all as by Brahma seen
• .Bless me Oh Guruvayoorappa with that Vision rarely so seen

• Like a beautiful nimbus cloud or a Kayamboo flower
• Of ,the ironwood type, Covering directions all four
• with a gleaming face shining in compassion- allured
• Chank,Discus,Mace,Lotus insignia in hands of yours
• Beatifying to Brahma through thy divine form so pure
• Lord will surely cure all my ailments,I know it is deemed

• Agitated and with bliss in the vision of thy form
• Brahma Prostrated ,happily & gratefully said
• Lord You Know my Wish ?Enlighten me on
• about your eternal dual and non-dual form,
• My obeisance to thy magnanimity Lord !

• You held the hands of Brahma who prostrated
• “You will not be by your creative works bound”
• You said in the mind of Brahma ,so pleased
• And him to create, through his mind,you goaded!
• Lord of such Virtues Render me healthy !

Dasakam 8-Stanza-1
• At the end of the Great Deluge
• Brahma got his life the First day
• From You, begot the Vedas,afore
• And Started Creation as before

Dasakam 8-Stanza-2
• Spending a holy thousand *Quadrage days
• He spent another such nights as causal deluge
• Wherein he slept with his potent creations
• *Quadrage = Consists of Four Eternally repeating Yugas/ages interspersed by
“nights” of Deluge The Yugas are namely,Satya,Dwapara,Krita, and Kali Yugas

• That Brahma, Like the men’s daily chore
• in creation under your auspices, Indulges
• And then those souls of the earlier ages
• Are reborn as awakening from sleep

Dasakam 8-Stanza-4
• Oh Lord Omnipotent,I shall Narrate thy glories
• of this “Semi-Cycle” of fifty brahmic years
• which is just half that of the Brahma’s age
• as already the semi-cycle is exceeded in this age

Dasakam 8-Stanza-5
• Brahma who fell asleep merged in thy belly
• at the end of the cycle and of Universe-jelly
• which became an ocean of nothingness already

Dasakam 8-Stanza-6
• When the Universe was a “water of nothingness”
• You slept on the bed of Sesha Serpent at peace
• With him as thy alter self of pure existence Bliss

Dasakam 8-Stanza-7
• As the abode of all powers of Nature
Including time,and for Creations refuge
You commanded to Time till end of deluge
to let you sleep and by its end awaken thee
and slept on Sesha the Serpent divine

• Oh almighty when you slept alone
• Quadrages of count a thousand
• part of thy self ,power of time, a maid
• like,woke up self and woke you then

Dasakam 8-Stanza-9
• Oh Lord ! Sleeping amidst of the ocean of nothingness
• You woke up to see all the world engulfed by thy Selfness
• And gazed these subtle world-forms in mighty benevolence

• Oh Lord Of Guruvayoor ! Later a subtle,Lotus-Bud
• Indescribable,and with an essence splendoured
• rose at thy navel, with all forms in thee dissolved

• The Lotus-born Brahma,sitting in thy navel-lotus,inquired,
• Where “it” arose from and not knowing its origin,turned
• around and begat four faces with eight eyes,lotus-shaped,
• looking serenely in all the four directions for a causal root

• Seeing only the ethereal “lotus” vacillating in the vast ocean
• of nothingness, Brahma, the creator could not see thy torso
• ,its origin, and hence he started brooding “who am I and so
• what is the origin of this Lotus ?” sitting on the giant lotus,atloss

• There must be an origin for this Lotus though,
• So thinking,Brahma Slipped down through
• For seeing The Lotus-Stalk in his Yogic view,
• Yet he could not see thy nectarine body blue !

• Though searched the lotus stalk for a hundred years
• Could he not discover the basis in any of its pores
• Did he retreat for concentration to his seat in lotus
• And then trained his intellect thee ,Brahman-wards

• With the mind purified by enlightenment following a tenuous
• hundred year “Samadhi” Brahma had, Vision divine of yours
• Never seen earlier,seated on anantha of hoods a thousand

• Oh Lord !Shining with crown and diadem, by bracelet adorned
• Bangles,necklace,and a dazziling diamond studded girdle band
• Girdle in shining Yellow with the glow of the Pea flowers Green
• I meditate thy Kausthuba adorned form as envisioned by Brahma

• Glory to thee Lord Manifest in the Vedic powers , infinite

• Later Brahma ‘s penance for hundred years him gained
• Spritual n mental power more than ever hugely grown
• Saw your Lotus seat billowing in the causal water’s wind
• Drank ,by thy powers both the pranic water and the wind

Lord! By thy mercy,Brahma created the three worlds
with the Lotus and indulged in creative work,Lord merciful,
save me in compassion for me with thy eyes wetted in full

• Oh Lord Of Vaikuntha,with powers enhanced by thy blessing
• Brahma then created ,plants,animals,humanity & divine beings

Dasakam 10-Stanza-2
Thereafter he created the five forces of darkness
As delusion,lust,anger,fear and ego as ignorance
Five fold,and saddened by their darkened powers
Prostrate,did he at your feet to gain higher holiness

Dasakam 10-Stanza-3
• From the mind so purified create did ,the Brahma Divine
• The Rishis Sanakan,Sanandan,Sanathanan Sanat Kumaran,
• Having realised the bliss through thy lotus feet’s devotion
• They did not heed Brahma’s goads to indulge in creation

Dasakam 10-Stanza-4
• When Brahma had suppressed ire to his sons
• Was Siva from between his eye brows born
• Crying ,hence called Rudra,bestow me position
• and name,pleaded Siva,thine own Soul-partition

Dasakam 10-Stanza-5
• Endowed with thy Grace, Brahma bestowed eleven
• names and that many forms and wives and eleven
• positions to humble Rudra Exhorting ,Create Children!

Dasakam 10-Stanza-6
• Fearing that the world of offsprings, too Stupendous
off Rudra,Brahma bade Siva to stop horrendous
creations and for welfare World’s welfare, do penance

Dasakam 10-Stanza-7
• Thereafter rose ten mythical sons from the body
• Of creative Brahma,namely Angiras,Kratu,Atri
• Pulahan,Pulasthyan,Vasishta,Daksha,Marici,
• And thy ardent devotee,the beloved Narada Rishi

Dasakam 10-Stanza-8
• Thence forth Brahma begat Dharma Deva & King Kardama
Also he created the Goddess of Enlightenment,Saraswathi
and Lo ,what a sin ! he was infatuated by her ethereal beauty
but nipped the dark thoughts at sons, Sanaka n’ Daksha’s fury

• Expounding,Vedas,Mythologies,Epics,,Grammar,
• Pedagogy,Metre,and Astrology from his faces four,
• Brahma entrusted Marici and other sons ten, therefore
sought solace at thy feet for lack of perfect welfare
attained in his creations spread worldwide afore

• Learning the secret of Furtherance by your mercy,
• Splitting himself into a male and a female by proxy
• Brahma made, halves Swayambhuva ,not a bit antsy
• as the Manu the first man and his consort Sataroopi.
• Oh Lord Guruvayoorappa, enjoining growth of humanty
• through the first couple, cure me off my hurting malady !

was progressing, came to thee to have your Vision
And Praising thee ,the pure -souled Sanakas in Unison

• Reached the gates of thy divine abode
• with lakes,pearl palaces n’ orchards

• When the devout sages were thwarted at the portals
• by thy guards Jaya and Vijata Anger arose in their minds
Lord of powers supreme !Everything was at thy instance !

Dasakam 11-Stanza-4
• “Be born as demons,being unbecoming
• to the Lords abode !!”On such cursing
• By sanakas ,the desperados sought repenting
• for a blessing to be in thee, ever-meditating

Dasakam 11-Stanza-5
• Learning of the mishaps to the loyal guards of thee
You repaired thence on Garuda,accompanied by Lakshmi
• With thy hands resting on its back greatly enchanting
the Sanaka sages of divine wisdom immeasurably

Dasakam 11-Stanza-6
• You enlivened the hearts of the sages praising you ,
• with thy words compassionate consoled the duo
• Reach me through anger worship in births trio

Dasakam 11-Stanza-7
• As Death Lords to the world were Born
These hapless Jaya and Vijaya as twins
to devout Diti on Kashyapa’s conjugation
when she for insisted it in twilight ,of omen

Dasakam 11-Stanza-8
• Hiranya Kasipu and Hiranyaksha deluded
born ,thus both with vein instincts doubled
trammeled then thy Lord’s entire world

Dasakam 11-Stanza-9
Of the duo ,the mighty Hiranyaksha ran
helter skelter for war and not getting chance
or opponent, ,submerged all that land
of thy beloved earth under water, and
roamed the universe with his glory vain
roaring egotically, weilding his mace giant

• Hearing off about you, from Varuna
the lord of the ocean, as opponent
equal , roamed he searching the land .
Lord ! But you are visible only by devotion
to thy devotees !Merciful ! Cure me soon !!

Dasakam 12-Stanza-1
Seeing the earth unitimely under water
Swayambhuva Manu the progenitor
of Mankind,reached Satya Loka there,
along with other great Rishis of yore,
the abode of Brahma,in blissful postures

Dasakam 12-Stanza-2
When prayed upon by manu as “Oh Lord Lotus-born!
While I am indulged in creation ,The earth has gone
under water,provide an asylum for my progenies !”
Lotus-eyed Lord !Brahma ,meditated thy Lotus-feet on.

Dasakam 12-Stanza-3
“Oh Lord ! I had drunken Dried fully earlier
this cosmic water by my yogic power,
now the earth is engulfed again by water
What Shall I do ? “Off Brahma’s nostril wider
,as he said this, sprang You as a mighty boar !

Dasakam 12-Stanza-4
Then you grew from a size-fingerling
to elephantine ,seeing you growing
further beyond the horizon,expanding
Brahma and his sons stood wondering

Dasakam 12-Stanza-5
“Who is this ? Is it the Lord Vishnu Himself
with mysterious powers, thorough my nostrils
Manifest as a boar ?” Is it a divine play of thyself ?”
While Brahma was thinking thus, You grew tall
as a huge mountain ,and thundered ,for a brawl

Dasakam 12-Stanza-6
Sages dwelling in the celestial worlds
on hearing thy roar Sang thy glories
gladdened, you plunged into ocean
in thy form a boar of a leviathan

Dasakam 12-Stanza-7
Whisking thy coppery bristling mane
with a large snout and raising thy tail
and splitting the clouds while hurtling
down, your rolling ,compassionate eyes
cooled the sages singing thy holy paens

Dasakam 12-Stanza-8
Interior of the waters thee entered
with scurrying crocodiles Riddled
and darting whales ,you frightened
even all those of the underworld
by your Thundering roar and started
looking for The earth submerged

Dasakam 12-Stanza-9
Oh Lord ! Incarnating as a boar divine
by thy mysterious powers did you find
the earth underworld hidden by demon
And thwarting the demonic pests therein
You lifted the earth on your tusks twain

Holding the earth on thy tusks as “lemon”
with thy mighty torso,you rose in the ocean
churning its endless waters mighty n’ causal
Lord !Taking the boar form for merely a fun
Save me from my maladies by thee out done

Dasakam 13-Stanza-1
Lo ! Then thy devotee and clever for cunningness
Narada reached Hiranyaksha wading the wateriness
High only upto the giant’s knees,praised the demon
Slighting thy powers over thy creations in comparison

Dasakam 13-Stanza-2
Vishnu the sorcerer has snatched the earth away from thy hold
And,hearing such words of Rishi as “what laxity is this Mylord”
.”Where is Vishnu? Where is Vishnu ?”Hiranyaksha roared
Reaching thee following the route that Narada thus goaded

Dasakam 13-Stanza-3
Ignoring the demon that slighted
As “this is a wild animal” you placed
The shuddering earth above water
And set out to fight the desperado

Dasakam 13-Stanza-4
Ready with a mighty mace to meet the demon
and you fought the demon with club his own
in his hand ,sportingly with the air to resound
as if, with thunder claps,and all gods Thronged
to witness the feat and Lord Brahma entreated
to you “trammel him before dusk ,Oh Lord !”

Dasakam 13-Stanza-5
In the middle of fight when your mace was thrown,
As you stood majestically ,hit by the club of demon
Smiling and with the discus your hand, forth-shone,
Known for uprooting the entire class of demons
Hail Thee ! Wonder of wonders of all divinations !

Dasakam 13-Stanza-6
When the devil incarnate Hiranyaksha took
spear to challenge ,you split it with thy discus,
fuming under duress did he pains inflict
on you by hitting with is fists, untouched
by your own worldly illusions, you made
the tricks of the demon ,merely puny, look.

Dasakam 13-Stanza-7
• With the speck of a spark from thy discus
all the gimmicks of the demon came to
naught,you slapped him on the face for
his embittered fisticuff with you

Dasakam 13-Stanza-8
The giant when kicked by thy lotus feet
spewing blood from mouth, Fell flat
Seeing this the sages sang your glories
as the Lord Of all, spiritual Sacrifices.

Dasakam 13-Stanza-9
Oh Lord Vishnu,the objects of all sacrifices
Are thy body part,the sacred recital is skin, yours
the sacred grass of the ritual is hair yours
the clarified butter offered are thy eyes ,
the divine priests,thy legs,and the Oblations’
Pouring laddle thy mouth is
thy stomach is the offer vessel
the vessel for keeping the sacrificial remnants,
your ear,,thy tongue seats the sacred soma juice
Oh Lord Omnipresent,the divine nectar is
is thy ,what more, your creative juice,
All special bounties from thy throat arise

You reached, pleased by the paeans
thy abode,with pure glory, shining.
as the cosmic soul ever-glorious
And lord dwelling at vaikhuntha
Please cure me from all my maladies !

Dasakam 14-Stanza-1
Later,Brahma’s son Swayambhuva manu,
spent his life , praising n’ worshipping you
n’ thy glories ,on earth saved by thou

In those times ,ancient Kardama the Royal Sage
Born of Brahma’s shadow n’ unrivalled lineage
Obeyed him n’ spent , years ten thousand ,charmed
Worshipping you-uncharmed ,for creativity of no end

Dasakam 14-Stanza-3
Lord Omnipresent !You appeared on garuda ,
before Kardama with your beauty adored,
as the blue rain cloud, lotus in hand
and a beaming smile on your face divined

Dasakam 14-Stanza-4
Before Kardama ,Oh Lord You appeared,
praising you in a body bristling as he sighted
the daughter of Manu, Devahuti you bestowed
as wife, who begat son Kapila, as you-incarnated
And nine daughters, then for salvation you blessed

Dasakam 14-Stanza-5
Following the advice of Rishi Narada
enlightened under your instance aha !
The Self-born Manu reached Kardama
The rishi, with former’s consort Sataroopa

Dasakam 14-Stanza-6
Though beatified in his prayer-fulfilment as Devahuti,Manu-given
,Kardama made her happy and blessed for her care and devotion

Dasakam 14-Stanza-7
And with the powers gained by thy worship
taking new form he enjoyed marital bliss ,
with Devahuti,served by numerous maids
Travelling the skies with divine planes

Dasakam 14-Stanza-8
Forbidden to take Sanyasa yet by Devahuti,
after the arrival of nine daughters, beautiful
Did he continue his family life pleasurable, still
yearning to Sire you as expected in measure so full

Dasakam 14-Stanza-9
Oh Lord ! To Devahuti who under bidding by spouse
took to your penances Intense, were you born sinless
as Sage Kapila to humanity giving knowledge on bliss

Oh Lord of Guruvayoor as Kapila-soul
who enlightened thy Mother on Soul
upon Kardama’s taking to penances!
Save me soon from all my maldies !

Dasakam 15 -Stanza-1
“A tainted mind In this world of Traits
of,Purity,Passion or Perversion creates
attachment but non attachment leads
one to the path divine n’ to nectarine bliss
Thwart all sensory obsessions by Devotion to Lord
It is ,by the company of Saints ,the devotion achieved,
needed,to Devahuti as Kapila incarnate you advised”

One who learns that one’s Nature
often taken as “me” is nurtured
off the causal Nature,the Great
Principle,Ego,,the five Causals
as Elements, Five Causal Principles,
Mind,,ten sensory Motor Organs,
and twentyfifth,,the Self,none else

The holy soul does not ever blend
with nature or its activities no end
but the nature does always bind
to personal soul that has propensity
towards it ,yet devotion to almighty
and Yoga,n’logic releases one from
the bondage to Nature.in,Kapila form
,so you advised Deavahuti to conform

Disciplined by postures ,those of pure mind
Yogic ,should you meditate on my form divine
adorned with embellishments and weapons ,
thus you spoke to Devahuti as Kapila-incarnation

By chanting my divine qualities as Love
Towards devotees, passion to serve
The good, destruction of the evil, and
chanting makes a superlative devotion
to me , that is like the torrent of ganges
and that alone can over this cycle win
of birth and death, thus spoke you in
Kapila-embodiment to Devahuti

Thou advised Devahuti “Fie ! Fie !”
The faithless use unholy wealth,fine,
To build their homes,and do sacrifices
For the sake of their mirth of their women’s
And mending children for family in mind

The hapless soul in the womb trammeled
by thoughts of past sins , he ignorant
upon birth, trammeled by travails gets again
deluded at youth to no end, “what a pity ?”
Thus spoke as Kapileswar to Devahuti

A righteous householder who worships the manes
and gods through Yagnas,enters higher spheres
of souls through the Southern Course and yet falls
flat after enjoying there for a while the given bliss
And only selfless sacrifices gives eternal salvation
Thus spoke thee the wise as Kapileswar to Devahuti

Blessing Devahuti, thus enlightened
by spiritual knowledge ,thou joined yogis
who travelled the universe and purified
and attained salvation through Bhakthi
Yoga and even today thou conducts
Penance at “Isana Corner” of Universe
For the welfare of of all thw worlds

Oh God of Gods! Why prattle more ?
so said , with firm faith n’ devotion to core
To your lotus-feet destroys all mortal fears
And bestows all desires.,please nurture
that devotion by quenching,in me, more
all my ailments Oh Lord of Guruvayoor !

King Daksha,Sired by Lord Brahma made
Prasuti the daughter of Swayambhu Manu
as his Consort n’ the daughters he begat
sixteen ,thirteen he gave to Dharma Lord ,
Swadha to Manes,Swaha to Fire Lord
and Sati to Lord Shiva your own soul-part

Moorthi Devi,Consort of Dharma gave births
To Nara and Narayana of great attributes
When in that occasion gods rained flowers
on and praised thee with all instruments

Thou hath by piercing the last shield slain
Sahasra Kavacha, the fearsome demon
of thousand shields ,after thousand
years of alternating War and penance

Indra, King of gods ,jealous of your penance
and sagehood ,sent heavenly beauties
and Maran , the cupid to hermitage yours
while You and thy brother Nara helping folks
in Badarikashram for salvation n’ of the worlds

As if to love god Madan embarrassing
who was tempting you with the lancing
glances of heavenly divas ,accompanied
by spring and zephyr ,thou stood unmoved
and spoke thus gently to all concerned

To the embarrassed Madan with his teaming
you spoke gently ,”Hey Madan ! Hey Spring !
Be not embarrassed ,never !Now you witness
Mine own mind-borne Beauties marvelous !

Madan,the cupid,who came to enchant
You, was inturn enchanted by the scent
off thy maids;n’gifted by you with Urvasi
the,enviably ravishing celestial beauty ,
they received her with great modesty

Seeing Urvasi,the celestial beauty and hearing
thy Lordly tales,Indra Panicked Oh ! Blessings
Bestower ! It is you who as Krishna incarnated
with glories ,tranquility and beauty unabated

Spoiled by the coddling of Brahma,
cumulating passion, state of Daksha’s
mind was turbulence and Lord Shiva
thine own spirit ,he denounced extra
n’ did sacrifice with wrath so much ultra
and daughter Sati he humiliated alas !

Hearing the humiliation to his consort
The sanguinary Shiva doused the rite
and decapitated Daksha.;yet,regaining
It back from Shiva for the consoling
celestials,then the sacrifice holy n’divine
was done with thy endless compassion

Son of that self born first man Swayambhuva Manu
,King Uttana Pada adored his wife Suruchi so good
but his second wife received reprimands so cruel,
she sought succour through constant devotion to you.

Seeing Suruchi’s son Uttaman once playing
in the lap of his Sire,Sunithi’s son,so thinking
Dhruva attempted the same,Lo! Then Suruchi
Like your infidel, insulted him profusely,fie fie !
Such ones find it hard to shed their jealousy

Goaded by thee but spurned before the woman
to whom his Sire was henpecked ,n’ grief stricken
, Dhruva reached his mother, sobbing,woe bidden
Sunithi, who was not respected, n’ whose wishes
not recognised ,the devout Lady thought thee divine
as the only asylum bade thy penance and not to pine

The five year old Dhruva with high esteem
left the palace for penance, n’ in short time
mantras and worship rituals given in rhyme
by divine Narada,and reached Madhuvana
then Started meditating you Lord Narayana !

Sage Narada repaired to the palace and consoled
the grief stricken King,this way dedicating his mind
to You,and gradually doing penances he spent
he spent five months in deep meditation in forest

Under the force of Dhruva’s penance
all life felt its Power terribly awesome
Oh Lord !On hearing the god’s appeal
thy heart melted n’ so you appeared
fore Dhruva on Garuda the divine Kite

Seeing thy nectarine form, Dhruva started
drinking it with his eyes, thus immersed,
the child stood not knowing ,embarrassed ,
how to praise thee Lord ! You gently caressed
his cheek then, with thy divine conch n’ blessed.

Soon on realisation,did he singing start
Thy paeans,and thou thus declared,
”dear Dhruva !Return ! Rule thy land !
Liberate ! and then be moksha attained

When you disappeared ,consoling the lad
he giving everyone bliss ,solitary, returned
Fulfilling all his desires, by thy grace, Reigned
Dhruva the Kingdom, when his Sire decided
to take to forests deep, for penance for good

Later though he set out for a war on Yakshas
,when Uttaman was killed by their tribe, crass
Consoled by Manu,Dhruva gave up the wars

On aging old,Dhruva flew up the skies
on celestial craft drove by thy servants
To the pole-star world and,there still lives
Lord ! engaged in protecting thy devotees
Relieve me from my suffering and disease

A descendant of Dhruva so powerful
King Angan,begat a son so unlawful
as Venan,and heart-broken on awful
heinous acts, of his, the king being old
Sset for forest to meditate on you Lord!

Though sinful,his subjects enthroned him
For his valour,but he insisted on showing
off his power and insisted that thy Lordship
Shall not in the world at all be worshipped

When a group of sages reached Venan,to advise
he sent them off declaring that Lord is none else
Than he in the World n’hearing him profanely swear
At thee,they burnt him as a moth in their wrath-fire

Venan’s mother preserved his remains
and on fearing the rise of evil in the land
.the sages did the thigh portion churn
of the vestige when Lo! Thou was born
as Prithu the emperor so well-known

The sages declared that the reborn
was an aliquot of thyself and hearing
the paeans of his court ,Prithu’s bow
,conquered the earth which had hidden
its resources fearing the dreadful Venan

Thus appointed by the gods ,the God of Gods
as the calf,milked the earth as would the cows
and collected her yields ,helped by the heavens

Thee as Prithu did several sacrifices
.On thy hundredth Aswamedha rite
the jealous Indra came as a wretch
and stole the Horse of the sacrifice,
but he was defeated by thy son nice

When Indra repeated the theft several times,
the sages decided to Sacrifice Indra by fire,
but Brahma dissuaded them and at sacrifices
end You appeared as Vishnu finer form, thine

Relying only on Bhakthi, Your blessing
,Prithu once reached the holy Ganges
and gave discourse to the wise sages
who assembled in retreats on the banks
before him, then appeared Sanaka Rishis

Sanakas gifted you as Prithu incarnate
the divine knowledge of Brahma,the ultimate.
Then you,as Prithu,entered the forests
merged with Brahma ,after for penance,
your true self.! Lord of Guruvayoor!
Who moved with super human prowess
as Prithu,save me soon from my maladies

Prithu’s great grandson Prachina Barhis
was devout in his duties and devotions.
In wife Satadruti,he Sired sons Prachetases
who were pure minded as thy love’s rays

When, their Sire enjoined
For progenies,they reached
western sea to do penances
in your name ,they witnessed
beautiful lake so well blessed

Lord Shiva who arrived there
to see thy devotees ardent
at the sacred lake,n’revealed
himself to the Prachetases
and gave them the Mantras
to appeal to You in prayers

Immersing under the water themselves
of the lake the Prachetusses did penance
for Ten Thousand Years;they did so again
many more years determined for salvation
though not as in the case of Dhruva soon

By the increasing powers of the penance
the soul of Venan, a pithru of Prachetases
earlier set to root out Sacrificial Rituals
,was purged, and when Narada of grace
expounded the Nature of Truth ,immense
to them, even the Sire’s of Prachetusses
attained liberation, subject of worthy desire

Later You ,the Compassion –incarnate
reached there, radiating enormous light
on Garuda,the Lord Of Birds,the Kite
,adorned with thy Discus,and hands eight

To the Prachetases who asked for nothing
You gave them the splendid boons telling
“Let it be auspicious for humanity to think
of You always!Let your chants,be wish giver
for all, as bestowed to you by Lord Shiva !”

“Marry Kamala Lochana,the daughter
Of, Kandu and an angel,and brought
up by the trees of forest,and, enjoy her
connubial felicity for a million year.
When you beget “Daksha”, the boy
reach me as liberated” declared You
to the thousand Prachetases, blissfull

Later when in anger Prachetases
set out,to burn trees on their ways,
Brahma dissuaded them,then as
declared, gifted them by the trees
Kamala Lochana as wife, theirs
and they lived with her many years
as You blessed them to reaching You

Over time,the Prachetasses begat
Daksha and salvation soon attained
by ways righteous,helped by the Light
of Knowledge of Narada;Lord the Kind !
Such Lord Of Guruvayoor !Save me soon !

Agnidhran was the beloved son of Priyavratan,
the first son of the first Man, the Self Born
Swayambhuva Manu; and his fond son Nabhirajan
was blessed to have your physical vision divine,
during his sacrifice in your name, so well done!

Lord of the form of the Universe!
then, as by the Rishis praised,
and as by King Nabhi,desired
“I will be born “You declared
“as your son” and vanished !!

Later you took birth in Nabhi’s consort
Merudevi, as thy power’s aliquot
as Rishabhan,who pleased everyone
with his brilliance extraordinaire !

But Nabhi ceded his Kingdom to thee
the Emperor of the entire Universe
and entered the forests for penance
for you and merging with You in ease!

Jealous of thy greatness,
Indra stopped the rains
to Ajanabha Varsha thine
own land by inheritance
Thou as Rishabha Deva then
made profuse rain therein
under your yogic powers

Defeated by thy Yogic powers gifted
Indra you Jayanthi, whom thou married,
though, with the absolute you stayed
You Sired hundred sons, the famed
Bharatha ,the eldest well included

Of the hundred offsprings, soon, nine
became sages ,and then ,the other nine
looked after the nine Parts of the land
n’remaining sons became the Brahmins
by the power of their penance immense

Later amidst the sages ,thou advised thy sons
Detachment and Bhakthi, the path of salvation
, becoming the Parama Hamsa “supreme Swan”
,taking in neutrality , forms of Idiot, Mad n’ Demon

Though merged in the absolute, showing the path of salvation
to others, and though became the contempt of all,thou wandered
the world enjoying the Bliss of Satcitananda, the absolute Brahman

After spending some more of your life
as Python,Crow and Cow ,when ripe,
your Soul entered the absolute, true
thy mortal remains were burnt in Coorg
in a wild fire! Oh Lord Of Guruvayoor !
Please remove my Difficulties so cruel!

At Ila Land, near the equator so located
reigned by Goddess Gauri and inhabited
only by women, praised and served
in Sankarshana form ,in Mantras by Lord
God Shiva ,I depend ever on You Lord !

Lord ! As Hayagriva thou Incarnated
,praised by lordly hermits renowned
at Bhadraswabhoo on the eastern side
of Ila, and in recovering the Vedas skilled
lost during the Cosmic dissolution of old
I meditate on You Lord of the World !

Lord ! Stationed along with Lord Narahari
at Harivarsha land ,to Ila a bit Southerly
served by saints such as Prahlada in glee
and gifting pure knowledge,I meditate on thee !

Lord ! Stationed in Ketumalam,the enchanting
land mass on the west of Ilavrita,sportive,smiling
And in magnificent adornments,forever shining
full of adorations of Lakshmi Devi and the offsprings
of Manu,and taking the Cupid-form as per Lakshmi’s
wishes, I pray for thy blessings and meditate on thee !

Oh Lord Of the World! Stationed north
of Ila in the land mass of Ramya Khand,
raining the rays of grace in pure hearts
worshipped by its King Manu Vaivaswath
Lord ! I cherish you in fish form in my heart!

North of Ramyakhand ,in the turtle
form , with the powers of lifting
even the mountains n’ Aryama,the first
among the ancestors ,worshipping thee
Lord eternal I worship thee in glee!

Again, worshipped in enchanting North
in Kuru, by thy consort Goddess Earth
with thy tusks rubbing the clouds forth
n’ of a giant torso of the boar, and hailed
by the seers , Boar ! The Varaha Lord !
Save me from my maladies soon My Lord!

South of Ila,in Kimburushu, the hallowed ,
by Hanuman of firm faith, dutifully served
as jewel of Sita’s eyes and her pure mind
Lord Vishnu as Sri Rama save me ,bound !

Worshipped by the eminent seers
in Bharath and glorified by hymns
Rich in Sankhya,n’Yoga science
,protecting the pure here till end
of the eon and born friend of man,
nara,Lord NaraYana Save me soon !

Lord ! Thy devotess worship you in Plaksha
Island as Surya,in Satmali as Moon,in Kusa
as Agni the Lord Of Fire,In Krauncha
as Water,in Saka as Air,In Pushkara
as the eternal onmnipresent Brahma !

Lord reigning the Milky Ocean afar
Conceived as the tailed polestar
and the galaxies, appearing near,
in the twilight-sky as Simsumar
fish, n’ worshipped by many a seer
oh Lord !End my miseries soon !

Scintillating with undulating shiny ear lobes,
adorned in blue, with thousand wavy heads,
yoke in hand, served by secret serpentine virgins
and reigning the nether world there as Adisesh,
Lord of Guruvayoor !Cure my disease please !

Oh Lord ! There in ancient days
was a family loving Brahmin righteous ,
by name Ajamila ,who in one of the days
as bade by his father on the way
to forest , met a vixenish, immoral, harpy

Though pious,Ajamila left his righteousness
under the tainted woman’s dark influence
and started cohabiting with her, over time,
though a curmudgeon, did he become
he loved her son Narayana overly , he begat

On death bed , he saw three agents
of the Lord of death Yama, frightened
he called “Narayana !”,his beloved son,
out of the pure and righteous instincts
he developed in his earlier days !

By the power of thy Name, emanating from his lips,
though he was wayward, thy beautiful servitors
,four-armed, arrived, adorned in silken yellow robes.

Thy servitors forbade the Yama’s who were
tugging at his soul on rope ethereal
saying,”leave him” strongly !;the thwarted
Yama-Servitors, his entire sins to thine, recited

To that thy Servitors answered :What if he is a sinner?
as the learnt, when atonements are done what is the sin ?
and the punitive inflictions left ? Is it that you don’t know
in the Yama world , the greatness of such expiations ?

Oh Lord thy servitors expounded
“the vedic rites atone for the sin
but do not eliminate the instinct
for the sins !But Vishnu eliminates
both for the devotee so ardent !”

Hey Servitors of Yama !Ajamilan has atoned
for sins ,in millions of his past births,committed
biggest expiation being his calling in fright,
“Narayana!” expounded thy messengers in light!

They continued “Though inadvertent,
chanting Lords name burn up man’s
Sins; such is its Greatness, like fire
on fagots and Medicine on distempers”

When the Yama’s Servitors withdrew hearing this,
Yours also disappeared; thus spending some years
worshipping you, he was brought to you in deliverance

Hearing the tale from his servitors
the grief laden Lord Yama sentenced
“ never approach Vishnu devotees”
Lord of Guruvayoor ! Thy devotees
sole saviour ,save me soon please !

Lord ! The other son of Prachetas,
the afore mentined Daksha did penance
to learn ways of welfare of his subjects.
Then You appeared with thy eight hands
blessed him n’ gifted Askni, as his spouse

Lord ! Dakdha’s first cohort ten thousand
sons and then the second of thousand
sought the path of liberation, as advised
by Narada ,then Daksha cursed him, sad,
to be never permanently any where seated
Yet ,the divine saint took it as being blest.

Oh Lord !Daksha’s Grandson from one of his sixty daughters,
used thy spell as a shield to protect Indra from the Asuras
the demons;Indra Won!Thy divinity ,always the sinners ,defeats !

Long ago ,Chitraketu, King of Surasena
land desired to have a son so ardent
later when the son born by Angiras’
blessing, was killed by his wives,
he sank himself into ocean of sorrows

The Narada, kind to King grieving the loss,
came to Chitraketu, with Rishi Angirass
and showed his dead son thro’ his powers
Yogic .”Whose son am I ? No Atma or soul
has parents “,hearing this from that soul
Chitraketu was relieved from delusions whole
and turned to thee as ever worshipful !

Later did Chitraketu receive Mantras and sacred chants
from Narada the sage ;n though as Adisessha,in penance
to thee, he rose un paralleled to the rank of celestial singers,
did he continue faultlessly thy blissful worship for ages.

Later before Chitraketu You appeared
with the fairness of the lotus reed
thousand headed, yet surrounded
by the chanting sages ;and pleased
in his worship,you knowledge, gifted
n’ blessing him soon disappeared ,

The foremost among thy devotees,
Chitraketu, bade the celestial beauties
sing thy glories across all the worlds
freely,and traveled in unattached bliss
for countless lakhs of earthly years

Enjoined by You, Chitraketu ,to expiate
his past sins reached Kailas and Sighting
the lust’s enemy Lord Shiva with Parvati
his consort in his lap , Lord Shiva,he slighted;
Parvati Cursed Chitraketu, woe bitten

Neither affected by the curse,nor desiring relift
,Chitraketu ,born as Vritra Demon , in his fight
with Indra, his ignorance on spirit did he lift
through advice on Devotion and ways of Spirit
Later, killed by Indra, he reached thy lotus feet .

Diti who for thy blessing took to penances
to have a child more powerful and arrogance
than,mighty Indra, but Lo !against her wishes,
delivered fortynine sons, Maruts,as friends
of Indra. Even those who worship you in ways
unrighteous and such aims, turn to intentions.
Divine !Such Lord of infinite Magnificence !
Lord Of Guruvayoor !Save me please !

Oh Lord ! When thee, earlier, in thy divine boar
form Varaha, killed Hiranyaksha,his brother,
Hiranya Kasipu, perturbed, by sorrow and anger
pledged in the court of Demons, to kill thee sure!

To realise his vow he worshipped Brahma who appeared him before.
Receiving the boon of immunity from the assault of Gods, Men or mere
Animals, at times day or night, slighting You the master, on his powers
he gloated ,destroying this world and stealing the Heaven from Indra.

Later when he reached thy abode Vaikunth
to kill You; becoming invisible you stayed
in his heart as the subtle body ,searched
invain for you everywhere, he returned,
thinking that you have fled frightened

Thereafter the son Prahlada,who was nurtured
on the Glory of Vishnu in its womb, tutored
by Narada,the sage with the tamborin in hand
,was born to Hiranya Kasipu;Lord the Munificent !
,the demoniac infant Prahlada became thy devotee
and became a prime example for thy devotees!

When he saw deep devotion to Thy Feet,
by the demoniac Asuras, condemned ,
in reality by his son, so demonstrated ,
the wretched soul Hiranya Kasipu sent
him for tutoring under those in his command
.Abandoning the inculcation by such teachers
objecting to such and such advices mainly ,ill
,Prahlada grew as strong as his devotion itself !
(PS:Many scholars have indicated that “Asura” does not mean demoniac trait,but represent a place ,such
as Assyria)

On hearing the answer “Vishnu Bhakthi”
to his question to the child perplext
as “what is the greatest lesson learnt ?”,
Hiranya Kasipu vexed and ranted at
the teachers and ,learning the instinct
for Devotion in the boy, killing he went.

Lord the Cosmic Soul !Since he submitted
his soul in you, even to splitting, as tortured
by the lancers, or to bites by serpents
venemous , or to food denied, or to being
given deadly poisons ,he never pained !

Confused by these miracles, forced his father
to confine the boy with ropes at the mentor’s
house, as suggested then by the teacher .
But Lo! In the absence of the devious mentor,
he taught the ignorant asura disciples yonder
on the Greatness of deep Vishnu devotion
and the merit of the Knowledge divine !

Enraged on hearing all the children praising Vishnu,
Hiranya Kasipu asked his son in wrath “Who ?”
“tell me, is the strength to a traitor as You ?”
To this the valiant Prahlada answered “Lord Vishnu !”
“Of Vaikuntha is my Strength;he is your strength too.
So is he the strength of the entire Universe,mind You!”

Screaming “Where is your Vishnu, the Universal Soul ?
Where ?” he asked rattling his Sabre, and ripped a column .
Oh Lord Vishnu ! I’ve no strength to narrate the same soon
Compassionate and of Cosmic form Lord of Guruvayoor !
Please have all my debilities, by thy blessing, removed !

Blowing the ears of Hiranya Kasipu,who ripped the column,
You roared ,shaking the core of the Universe;hearing a sound
so shocking and heard never before, it shook the demon’s
heart ;even Brahma was moved from his seat in heaven!

When the perturbed Asura turned around,
Lord Omnipresent !Thy Lion-Man, but no-man,
neither animal form stood out of the column!
While he was perplexed and frightened,
by thy wonderful form, your body in mane
started growing ever so larger and larger.

With sharp eyes coloured as white,
hot gold, manes masking the skies,
shaking ,and a cavernous mouth, Hail
Thee ! with thy tongue glistening in light
in motion, n’ the awe of saber canines !

With wrinkling forehead that evokes awe
on thy roar, short and fat neck, torso
touching the sky, with scary, shining claws
bared from the thick thousand hands
n’ roar as the frightening peel of thunder
that makes foes on the run, n’ radiant
,in thy form as Nara-Simha ,ebullient !

When Hiranya Kasipu menacingly, towards you swinged
the mace thinking “This is Vishnu, I will kill him” You stopped
the foe with thy strong hands, but,out of thy hands he wriggled
and started confronting You ,ready to swallow the world ,
showing fencing tactics, with the saber and shield in hand

You caught the Asura gyrating in his war steps,
and sitting on the doorsteps you laid him on thy lap ,
sunk thy sharp claws into his chest n’ drank deep
the blood that gushed, from the broken breast, forth
and made growls that could subdue the whole earth !

Tossing the corpse of the Asura, You grew
in size, and leapt blood stained , gory too,
to consume the entire asura clan deviant;
when thy death-dance so continued,
the earth stood terrified with swirling oceans,
tilting mountains and rising light bursts.

None in the world then dared to come near You ,standing
in the midst of the court with thy terrifying form, wearing
the gut-garland, blinded by rage, growling often;petrified,
even Lord Shiva,Brahma and Indra at distance praised!

Finding you still untempered ,and goaded
by Brahma, Prahlada prostrated at thy feet.
Mellowed, You touched the child’s head
and blessed and boons enough you gifted
him ,chanting thy glories, for world’s benefit !

Lord !Enacted in this way,praised in Upanishads
for pure magnificence and form holiness,
who can ignore thee ? Prahlada-fondness!
Oh Lord of Guruvayoor !save me from my disease !

Once Indradyumna ,thy devotee
and the King of Pandya, while
in deep meditation, failed to see
the guest Agusthia Rishi,
And to do the kingly hospitality .

Angered ,the Agasthia Rishi cursed
“Thou become an elephant “
.By the power of his devotion,
Indradyumna took thence
the form of a lordly elephant

That elephant leader reigned supreme
over other animals in the Thrikudadri
,playing with its mates so dear,
Where can thy devotees falter ?

Immune from all hardships,partly by his nature
and partly by the divinity of the land,he ventured
into a vast lake upon being fatigued by sun drearily
and by thy tempting, started roaming in it freely.

At that unfortunate moment,a gandharva celestial
by name huhu who had turned into a crocodile
by the curse of Rishi Devala, caught hold ,severe
of the elephants rear leg is it not thy pastime ,mere
to ail thy devotees before a solace in good measure?

Though by the powers of his praying,
he was unsubdued and was reigning
supreme for thousand years, yet again,
to direct him towards you, he was made
trammeled by the crocodile ,it seemed!

Oh Lord !On clearly seeing the pure light
of thy knowledge upon suffering the pain,
the Elephant Leader Plucked a white lotus
with its trunk and offered it at the feet of yours ,
to thee the unattached , with hymns, in tears,
for thee as cosmic soul, learnt in his earlier births

On hearing the praise of the unattached
Cosmic Mind,, even Shiva the Lord
Or Brahma the Lord did not respond
thinking “it is not for me “,and then
you arrived there driven by compassion
upon Garuda ,the Kite divine.

You caressed the Lordly ,ailing elephant
with thy Lotus Palms and then killed
crocodile with thy discus, when that
celestial broke out of the charm ,
the elephant took your own form !!

“In the dawn those who chant the hymns praising
you and me, deserves salvation”, so saying
tyou entered Vaikuntha with the Elephant, Lordly.
Shining as the God of Guruvayoor, Save me Lord!

On seeing the garland, which the wrathful hermit
received from a celestial damsel,n’ which he gifted
inturn to Lord of Gods Indra was trampled
by Indra’s divine elephant Ayravat, the hermit
Durvasa cursed Indra ;is it not known abundant
that those who are born off other gods and not
off You ,have no patience, nor maturity,nor tact ?

On the curse of Durvasa ,Indra soon became a curmudgeon.
and all other gods became powerless before the Asuras ,soon
Upon this,all the gods lined up behind Lord Shiva and reached
Lord Brahma.;then together all to you the liberator appealed!

Praised by the gods You the benevolent,
appeared in all glory and declared “Clan
Divine !”, Enter into a pact with Asuras
and churn the ocean for the Amrit-nectar”

When the Mandhara Mountain was as a stirrer being taken
after the peace pact with the Asuras,it fell to the ground.
Then you came on Garuda and took it like a date fruit
and placed in the Milky Ocean for churning for the Amrit

Later both the Asuras and the Devas together started
churning the Milky Ocean containing various articles
divine ,using as the rope ,Vasuki the divine serpent.
then by a sleight, you made the Asuras hold the head
side of the serpent ,what more on thy powers to be said ?

Meanwhile the Mandhara Mountain that churned
the ocean slipped and fell into the waters in spin,
Desirous of pleasing the gods You took by will
the form of kurma,the tortoise with a strong shell

Oh Vishnu !Taking the form of the tortoise
with an admirably adamantine carapace
of a million kilometer span,you entered
the ocean n’ lifted the submerged mountain !

Seeing the mountain in place soon
,both the sides started the churn
,acting through the Asura demons
, gods and Vasuki the Serpent
You refreshed them all as the One !

Under the force of churning,as the mountain
moved up,when you kept Mandhara down
by keeping thy lotus hand on it the Celestials
,Lord Shiva n’ Lord Brahma eloquently praised
You ,and flowers from skies they showered!

You started churning the ocean with hands both
when even after a long time of churning, with
whales and crocodiles swirling up and down
,but to no result in sight; Lord of such reign,
please save me from my maladies n’ afflictions!

When from an ocean now churned solo
by thee, Lord Vishnu,the simmering toxin
called Kalakoodam ,severe, came ,forth.
Pleased by the praise from gods ,
Lord Shiva drank it to thy pleasing nod !

Later while churning continued with Gods
and Asuras ,Kamadhenu the wish-cow
Came up. Oh Lord of Vaikuntha you
Gave all that to the Great Rishis,
n’ the Jewel Of Uchaisravas, the horse,
Then Ayravatham the Holy Elephant,
Celestial Beauties that rose in turn,
You gave to the Gods with all merits!

Hey Lord of the world , arose there
Goddess Lakshmi, of charm to lure
,with mind dissolved in You,pure,
.Everyone around there desired her !

Lord of Gods Indra offered the diamond throne.
Sages offered to the goddess chants and Oblations.

Along with the consecrated water,Goddess Lakshmi
,with body as tender leaf,was decorated by charming
glances of thine as well as by diamond ear wears
and ornaments and yellow silken clothes to wear,

That goddess sidled towards you, charming
with a flowery garland that is so buzzing
with a swarm of busy beetles, droning
and with a majestic gait so heaving
by her fulsome bosoms , with comely
anklets, and a blush divine especially .

Learning that the multiple qualities
of Shiva and Brahma also had its
negatives too, the goddess did thee
garland You ,of poise n’ equanimity

To that universal power ,the goddess,
who had no interest in anyone else,
You offered your heart as the seat
,with due respect, thus the Great
universe progressed by the oversight
of the universal mother from thy chest !

From the milky ocean,then arose
“varuni”, the Liquor impious,
and the cause of ignorance,
You gifted it to the Asuras

Then Dhanwanthari, an aliquot of yours,
Rose from the deep ocean, like a nimbus
cloud, with a charming form and the jug
of nectarine Amrit in thy hands cupped
Oh Lord of Guruvayoor ! Please end
all my terrible maladies from now on !

When the Asuras made off with the Pot
of the Amrit –Nectar that rose,
You disappeared, consoling the gods.
by thy mystic powers, Oh Lord ,
the Asura-demons started quarrelling .

Then you took an enchantress’s form
having head bowed down by the bosom
fullsome ,seeing You so, the lecherous
Asura-demons reached You ,desirous
of the bosom of thee as the temptress

When the Asura-demons inquired
“Oh lady ,who are you doe eyed ?
Please serve this equally to us
this Amrit nectar, so dear to us”
you quipped,”Oh noble Asuras ,
how can you trust a woman so coarse
like me ?” and won their trust immense !

When the Asuras gave the Amrita-pot happily ,
You said “You Asuras are tolerating me lovely
and my way-wardness” walking lasciviously
amidst both sides seated separately,
but started serving the Amrit to gods only

When serving Amrit You finished
to the gods ever to You devoted
,in thy Vishnu form You decapitated
Rahu the demon who there posed
as a god half his helping devoured!

After meting out suitable punishment
to the Asura-demons for stealing Amrit
and later when you disappeared,
the vengeful desperados fought
venemously with the gods, then ,at
Bali- Asura’s magic, the gods baffled !

Thou killed the demons such as Kalanemi,
Mali, and Indra killed Pakan, Jambhan, Bali,
and Valan,and the Asura Namuchi,
not to be killed by Wet or dry objects,
You killed ,using the froth on waters.
Then following Sage Narada’s advice
You ended the war and gifted peace.

On hearing about thy form as Mohini,
the enchantress, Shiva came racing
to Vaikuntha with Consort Parvathi,
and his celestial servants ,praised
you and had his desire expressed !
And, hearing this , You just vanished !

Seeing You as Mohini the charming lass
playing in the field ,bouncing the ball,
even celibate Lord Shiva, erred and
embraced her for consummation !

When Shiva had ejaculation even as running behind
the enchantress,he had the Vision of Truth.Then
,Lord Shiva ,revered by You,narrated the incident
to his consort Parvati.Lord of Guruvayoor the Great
such glories !Cure me off my malaise by thy Grace !

Although killed by Indra but by Sukra revived
,The Great Bali , did return with enhanced
Vendetta and even slighting thy discus,
and fought aggressively, when the gods
fled ,the Bali Took over the three worlds.

Seeing thus Indra sad,his mother Aditi
Approached her spouse Kasyap rishi .
Following his advice a penance she did
called “Payo Vritam” a lot worshipfully

At the end of the penance Your holy form appeared
in thy blue-sky tone , to Aditi who was in-You- grossed
in thy form ,four-armed .“ I will take birth in you blessed
as a son,soon, yet , keep this discreet” and vanished !

Thereafter in the yogic power of Kasyap You dissolved
and ,praised by Brahma and for the welfare of the world
Into the womb of Aditi, the Rishi’s spouse ,you entered
Thus given birth to Thy Vishnu form in full Shine,
on the 12th
day after the new moon and when
the ascendant star was Thiruvonam , called, Sravan ,

While the happy gods rained flowers
from the skies and thy parents
sang paeans with folded hands
you became a Celibate yogi-boy !

Then You were instituted as a celibate by the Kasyap Rishi,
gifting you golden girdle, yogic rod, rosary, other appurtenances
of celibacy the “brahmacharya”! With a glowing body, after rituals
by the fire , You set forth in earnest towards Bali’s Palace
where he was doing the Aswamedha, the ritual religious
desirous of emperor-hood unparalleled ,of the Universe !

As if to diminish the powers of the enemy,
you started towards Bali’s palace, shaking
the earth and signifying the great events
that are to unfold ,holding the paraguas*,
with a staff seemingly to thrash the Asuras
* Umbrella

When You reached the sacrificial camp
Narmada river’s northern bank
the sages like Sukra suffered the glare
of thy Light “Is it Fire god ,so rare?
Sun ? Or Sanat Kumara the Yogi?
they thought “Who is this luminary ?” .

The Asura was overcome by the Aura of thee,
n’ sages such as Sukra received You warmly.
And, with horipilation the enlightened Mahabali ,,
received You worshipfully, thy feet they washed
and sprinkled the holy wash drops on his own head !

The wash water of thy feet, to be found
only on Lord Shiva’s head, reached
Bali , born as Prahlada’s grandson
for his holiness in compound,
for holy deeds of past; Lord of Universe
and of Guruvayoor with such glories,
save me ,your devotee, soon please!

Lord the ever victorious !Enraptured by thy Aura- tejas
Bali, who was already your devotee, said folding hands
“Hey brahmin boy ! Tell me now what you want !,Gold ?
Food ?House ?Land ? Or ,anything You ever desired
I shall with no fault ,abundantly n’ with full honors provide !”

Hearing such words from Bali firm,
though ,You ,fully kind hearted to him,
requested land measuring Thy steps,
three ,to weed out his pridefulness.

“why ask only three steps of land from me
reigning the whole universe, ask me Bali,
the earth !” said the proud Bali, yet the pride
could not gift even three steps of land ;
though not deserving, he was subdued

Oh Lord Munificent !When You declared
“If not happy with three steps of land,
never so with all the three worlds !”
Bali bent to offer thy feet , ablutions
afore the sacrifice ,but was forewarned
by his mentor, sage Sukra telling gingerly
“don’t proceed with this sacrifice hastily”
“this is Vishnu, the sorcerer !”n’ added wryly

“To Lord Vishnu, if,seeking this, I shall
in full measure and pleasure fulfill
my vow !”,told Bali, who was cursed
by his mentor Sukra, what a surprise
to offer the ablution he bade , Vidyavali
his consort so pure , and then divinely
sacrificed all he had ceremoniously,!

When the Asura conducted his sacrifice,
gods rained flowers from the skies,
and as everyone watched You loomed
connecting everything as Cosmic form
into the universe as one ,live, organism

With the first step You covered the heavens,
when the lotus-born Brahma offered water
from ablution kettle,which later became
Ganges that purified the Universe.Enraptured,
the celestials danced,and the devout Jambavan
beat ethereal drum around the Universe !

Then the Asuras who fought with the gods
sans your bidding ,as their Lord now ,
were defeated .“Our Lord’s with his might
n’ grace we won earlier ,why fight ?”
Hearing Bali’s such conciliatory words,
the Asuras withdrew to the nether world .

Bound by Garuda, the Lord of birds,
Bali was Asked by You, “Lord of three worlds,
now Show me the place for the step third !”
.Upon this Bali bowed and said
“Oh Lord place thy third step on my head”
Devout Prahlada and grand father of Bali
too joined ,praising in hymns of thy glory .

“Oh Asura this was only to quell your pride,
by a birth sanctified by holiness, You’ll reside
in Sutala, a heaven ,greater than heaven
You will enjoy the posting as Indra, and then
you will merge in me” Thus saying You blessed
Bali, in the sacrificial rites completed by the
Brahmins. Lord of Guruvayoor !Bless Me !

When Hayagriva the Asura stole once
the aboriginal, mystic, ethereal words
from the mouth of Brahma as vedas,
while hibernating during the great deluge,
You took the form of the fish divine
to reclaim the mystic formulas ,fine !

Satyavrata the king of Dramila
while doing his ablutions Oh Lord,
with hands in the river folded,
then as a minnow that glowed
his palms ,You entered

On seeing “You” frightened to go
back to the river, he took the minnow
to Ashram in a small pot ,Oh Lord !
In a few days ,like the man’s ego
,and to fill up the pond, You grew
then well, river and the great lake !

As you wished, the king took
you to the ocean back ,
and to Satyavrata who asked
on the deluge ominous
You said “wait for seven days “
and vanished swiftly apace !

On the day destined,Earth sank
under the great deluge,and then
Satyvrata, along with the Seven
Sages Great, reached beating
great odds, thy placid haven

Following Your advice, all of them boarded
the earth-like boat and when the boat swayed
, as a leviathan in the ocean You appeared

Beatified on seeing your form as a shining
leviathan of about a million kilometer long
those rishis and Satyavrata tied their boat
on the horns of that long fish of a behemoth

Thou pulled that boat in the sea of cosmos
,showing them the places of Universe
and the spiritual knowledge and advice

When the cosmic deluge ended,
rishis back You reached
to their abode and crowned
as Man’s ancester King Satyavrata
for the next epoch as Vaivaswata
Manu and fought Hayagriva
who stole the Mystical Vedas

Apart, the Hayagriva’s chest, thou tore
Recovered n’ reinstated the Vedic Word
and pleased Brahma ,Oh my holy Lord
Of Guruvayoor !Have Me soon “delivered”!

Ambarisha, born as son of Nabhagan, son
of Vaivaswathaanu, spent his life in meditation
on You and thy devotess, though he was
the king of the land circled by the seven seas.

To that king who followed all rites as devout
in worshiping, You blessed him and without
his pleading, offered the divine protection
of thy Magical disc with teeth thousand !

Later Ambarisha spent one year full
at Madhuvana with his consort too
on the Yamuna banks serving You
taking penance from12th
day ,close
full moon half, serving the brahmins
in a grand scale, and gifting cows
numbering 60 crores ,as part of vows

At the ending ritual “parana” of the penance,
Rishi Durvasa,sanguine n’ wont to hurtfulness,
reached the king’s court and on being invited
to feast ,sidled to the bank of Yamuna River

When, not to miss the auspicious muhurath
for the “parana” ,the king in a hurry, completed
the rite simply with water and for the rishi waited
to join him, on returning when rishi knew this forth
by his clairvoyance ,he grew angry and created
a demon from a lock of his hair n’ had him chased

• King was unmoved even on seeing the armed demon
• ,ready to burn the world, and by that time thy Sudarshan
• disc, dispatched him like a butterfly and flew after, soon,
• Durvasa rishi ,the cause of the concern and commotion

Terrified, the rishi ran towards all corners of the world,
but being met with the disc, he ran towards Brahma -Lord
, who dismissed saying that disc ,which even subdued
the Lord of Death, cannot be defeated n’ then he approached
Lord Shiva ,who worshipping the Sudarshan ,too refused.

Then the desperate rishi reached thy abode
bowing, and you said, “Rishi, the beloved,
I am , servant of my devotees, the power
of knowledge and penances are honoured
only when it is with humility, you proceed
for the feet of Ambarisha ,to nobly surrender

Then the rishi fell at Ambarisha’s feet and begged
pardon, the king in hymns had Sudarshana praised
When it vanished, relieved ,the rishi blessed the king
Profusely and praised his devotion n’ mercy to liking.

Then, for another year the king fasted
awaiting the Durvasa rishi and feasted
Him and escorted him forth.Thence lived
He with still deeper devotion to thee
Such Lord of Guruvayoor ! Save me please !

As per the request of Gods when ,to dispatch Ravan,
You took birth as Ram, among your brothers Lakshman,
Bharath, Satrughna, as born to three of pious King
Dasaratha’s consorts when he was gifted the pudding
divine by rishi Rishyasringa at the sacrifice of his liking

As per your sire’s desire, bow-in hand, accompanied by Lakshman,
powered by the Mantra’s “bala” and “atibala” for elimination
while travelling with Viswamitra ,of their hunger, ,thirst, or tiredness
and to safe guard his rituals in the Sacrifice n’ to protect the pious.
You tore the chest of the Demoness Tataka, carrying the weapons
from the rishi ,reached Siddha Ashram as per the sage’s guidance.,

During the sacrifice, You rained arrows n’ thwarted Maricha
and other Demons;after the deliverance of the petrified Ahalya
by the touch of thy feet ,You reached the Kingdom of Videha
and broke the unwieldy ,Siva’s bow and received Devi Sita
the Goddess Lakshmi as consort, Later You and consort Sita
Started for home, with thy brothers n’ their spouses, at Ayodhya.

After subduing the sanguinary rishi Parasu Ram ,who blinded
by rage against Warrior class , blocked Thy way, You reached
Ayodhya and lived happily with thy divine consort,Later one day
in their uncle’s home,as Bharath and Satrughna was away
when thy Sire set out for Your coronation, Kaikaeyi, the mother
of Bharath, thwarted it, by the advice of her servant Manthara

You setout ,bow in arms, honoring Thy father’s wish, for vanvas
For the forest-life, with Thy consort, and brother Lakhshman,
bid adieu to the crowded citizens, reached the house of Guhan,
the Navigator, changed thy attire to that of a hermit, at Ganges
crossed it and entered the forests. and You paid obeisance
to rishi Bharadwaj n’ as he guided, lived on Chitrakuda mounts

Saddened on hearing of thy father’s woe-bitten departure
from Bharath, You did the last rites and gave Your footwear
and the kingdom to Bharath.,later, paying obeisance to Atri,
the rishi ,You entered Dandhaka forest ,dispatched the horrific
demon Viradhan and gave deliverance to Sarabhanga rishi.

Then You met rishi Agasthiar and pledged
to wipe out the demoniac tribes, Received
the gifts the brahmastra, of bow, Vaishnava
You met Jatayu, the bird-friend of Thy father
n’ stayed at Panchavadi off Godavari river

Exasperated by the repeated pleading by lascivious demoness
Surpanakha for cohabiting with Thyself, You sent her to Lakshmana.
But when upon seeing her nose cut off by enraged Lakshmana,
the Demon Lords Khara, Dooshana and Thrissirus reached there,
with fourteen thousand demons,You dispatched them all,what more ? .

Following the request by to possess by Sita
the doe form assumed by Sorcerer Maricha,
sent as a decoy by Ravana ,on hearing
story from his sister Soorpanakha, on Sita
and the Killing of Khara and Dooshana,
You followed and Killed it.When Sita
sent Lakshman on hearing foul Maricha
wailing in Rama’s Voice, wily Ravana
abducted Sita. Though sad outwardly
You were happy inside for the chance
to annihilate the Ravan with no remorse

On hearing the last word “Thy consort is abducted by Ravana”
from the heaven bound Jatayu, You cremated him remains, mortal
Thereafter dispatched the Kabandha,visited Sabari,and was delighted
to see hanuman at the Pamba , Lord of Guruvayoor ! Have me Saved !

Having made pact with Sugriva through Anjaneya,
You tossed the body of Dundubhi,the terrible demon
who stood in your way and then cut seven sala
or Copal trees using a single arrow,later, desiring
to protect thy protégé Sugriva,You tricked Bali winning
on vehement fight with Sugriva ,and dispatched him
and at Malyavan spent a lonely,love-lorn, monsoon
near Mathanga Ashram, On that mighty Mountain

When Lakshmana chided him for faulting on his words,
Sugriva arrayed his battalion of apes ,and pleased
by seeing them ready to go in search of Sita soon,
You gave Hanuman thy regal ring as the pass-token
with message for Sita, Later the mighty ape battalion
Searched for Thy sweetheart, greatly in all directions,

Hearing thy plight from Sampati in flight with his regained wings,
Hanuman succeeded crossing the sea ,giving the divine token-ring
to Sita, inside Lanka, entering n’ smashing garden and tolerating
the brahmastra ligatures of Indrajith upon Aksha Kumara’s killing,
incinerating most of Lanka after meeting with Ravana the raging
And bringing to You Sita’s crown jewel as her signature rushing.

Later reaching the seashore walking through
Forest conquered by Sugriva and Angada
then noted the clues on enemy given there
in trust by Vibhishana ,and taking the promise
of the ocean to part itself ,fearing, thy attacks
by thy fire-weapon though it declined first this

Later after entering Lanka by the bridge using mounts
built by the apes ,though You fainted and were bound
by the Serpent-Missile ,while very heroically fighting
in the battle with Thy brother Lakshmanan, subduing
the demons through thy Battallion of Apes who using
teeth, nails ,hills, boulders and trees, You recovered
consciousness by the wings of Garuda for its wind

Lakshman who was beleaguered by Ravan’s Sakthi weapon,
inhaled the herbal incense on the mountain brought by Hanuman
, was reinvigorated and dispatched the conjurer Indrajith ,then
though enraged by these sorceries, but consoled by Vibhishan
You dispatched the earth-shaking Kumbhakarna ,Ravan’s son
about to swallow into his cavernous belly the whole Ape battallion

Taking the divine car sent by Indra You fought Ravana
and cut each of his ten mighty heads by Brahmastra,
receiving the fire-chastened Sita, You did the coronation
of Vibhishan ,in the assembly of the wounded and reborn
ape battalion ,as the Lord of Lanka ,then flew back
To Ayodhya in Vimana the aircraft called divine Puspak

Later after the divine investiture you blessed earth
by a life of ten thousand years, the daughter of earth
Sita in the family way You divorced for false rumour !
You got the cruel demon Lavana dispatched as a puff
by Satrughna n’ You killed another despicable in a huff
n’, Sita delivered Your twins at Valmiki Ashram,,tough !
