9. Question Paper and
Pattern
The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3
hours duration.
The question paper consists of objective type
questions/numerical questions.
Each objective question has four choices for the
answer and Only one is correct.
Numerical questions have no choice, have numeric
value answer only with no negative marking.
MATHS carries 13 marks and APTITUDE/ REASONING
12 marks
10. Exam has 65 questions - 30 one marks and
35 two marks questions.
There are 2 pairs of linked answer questions
There are 2 pairs of common data questions
An Aptitude section comprising of 5 one mark
and 5 two mark questions
11. Marking Scheme
For 1 marks MCQ, 1/3 marks is deducted for wrong answer.
For 2 marks MCQ, 2/3 marks is deducted for wrong answer.
For LAQ, where each question carries 2 marks, 2/3 marks is
deducted for a wrong answer to first question only .There is
no negative marking for wrong answer to the second
question of LAQ pair. If the first question is wrongly marked
then second is not evaluated.
No negative marking for numerical question.
