The socioeconomic development committee of Airports Company
South Africa's King Shaka lnternational Airport last month delivered
a solar-powered computer laboratory to Buffelsdale Secondary
School, in Tongaat. This R500 000 project was the brainchild of
solar power lab manufacturer GivelTBack, which aims to provide
technology to underprivileged communities, especially those
without electricity and infrastructure
More than sixty newly skilled engineers, technicians and artisans last
month celebrated their entry into skilled employment after graduating
with engineering degrees, diplomas, trade certificates and national
certificates following a training programme with engineering and
infrastructure company Siemens South Africa. Siemens commits to
training South Africans under government's national Accelerated and
Shared Growth lnitiative scheme, as part of its contracts for work at local
power stations and on other infrastructure
