Phytochemistry: This division does the isolation and development of active ingredients
from herbs for various nutraceutical and therapeutic applications.
Synthetic Chemistry : Sami Labs has set up a
strong synthetic chemistry division to manufacture
some of the synthetically derived nutraceuticals.
This division currently works on:
- Development of drug and drug intermediates
- Development of selenium amino acids
- Development of chiral molecules

Formulations : This department develops natural cosmetic products that have properties to
rejuvenate and protect the skin from environmental pollution, toxic chemicals and Ultraviolet
A and B radiation resulting in wrinkling, hyper pigmentation (excessive tanning) and
inflammations (sunburn). The department also develops dosage formulations in capsules,
tablets etc for the nutraceutical products.
Biotechnology: Sami Labs ventured into
Biotechnology in the year 2000. Lactospore® is the
first commercial production using the in-house
R&D technology. This division is currently
involved in the production of high-value enzymes
as well as other probiotics .
Tissue Culture : The scientists here develop high-
yielding varieties of medicinal plants & multiply
them through tissue culture techniques in the
laboratory.

SAMI initiated almost a decade ago with a handful of
farmers, a special form of cultivation for the farmers in and
around Salem which is now carried over to many locations in
India & abroad.
Today, the Sami Model of Coleus Cultivation has grown into a

directly and thousands of farm labourers indirectly in whole
of India.
