The 2012 Catalogue is now out. If you would like a copy and are not on the list please let
us know. The Brown Envelope Seed Calendar is available directly from
soniacaldwell@eircom.net
All the seeds in this catalogue are grown on our farm in West Cork. We have been
selecting over the years for varieties and individual plants that work here. They are open-
pollinated, or open source seeds, which means that you can save your own seed from
them.
The farm is certified by The Organic Trust so that the seeds may be used by certified
organic growers. There are no chemical treatments carried out on the seeds or the plants
they are harvested from. (IRL-O1B3-EU Symbol No. 159).

10. The Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival
24th - 27th May 2012
The Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival is a unique short film festival which takes
place in the beautiful seaside town of Schull in West Cork, annually over the last
weekend in May. We like to encourage those who attend the festival as well as watching
films, to take part in the workshops and audiences with our guest directors. Over the
past three years we have had Q&A audiences with Jim Sheridan, Pat McCabe, Gerard
Stembridge, Jack Gold, Kirsten Sheridan, Steve Coogan, Greg Dyke, Tony Barry, Ian
Power, David Puttnam, Sandy Lieberson, Chris O’Dell, Carmel Winters, Juanita Wilson
and many others.
A town such as ours without a Cinema provides those who attend the festival with
alternatives. Distributed Cinema, Schull's very own intranet network dedicated to short
film. From a horse box to a micro cinema with eyepiece, a school bus, to a cycling
cinema at the tented fringe, from a bookshop, to the village hall and to numerous local
pubs and restaurants, Schull's network connects, through Ethernet cable and wireless
links, to its own short film archive on a dedicated server.

14. All roads lead to Bantry this St Patricks Weekend for the
Fadó Festival
The Fesitval will re-create Bantry of yesteryear. A time before the stress and strain of
mobile phones, computers or even street lighting! The scene will be set by the pubs and
shops adopting a pre-electrification theme and street lighting black out on the Friday and
Saturday nights.
The three day festival will open on Friday morning with a re-enactment of the old style fair
in Bantry featuring livestock and domestic animals. Visitors will be treated to Bantry’s
already renowned food-market exhibiting local artisan produce and exotic imports.
Shoppers can amble through the stalls and browse the many items of antiquity on sale
and be entertained by buskers and street entertainers.
The very popular “The Tailor and Ansty” will be performed nightly during the festival,
starring Ronan Wilmot (The Tailor) and Ena May (Ansty). The play is adapted from the
book first published in 1942 and subsequently banned. The couple’s fireside tales of
matchmaking, marriages, wakes and inquests will make you laugh and cry and is not to
be missed.
The Fadó committee really have an action packed weekend of events planned from a
Vintage Car rally to a Cheval, Children’s Treasure Hunt and craic agus ceol galore.
However, undoubtedly the highlight of the weekend will be the Fadó Street Pagent on
Saturday nigh. At 8pm, under the cover of darkness, the Atlantic Challenge crew will sail
into the inner harbour aboard Unité while carrying the torch of light. This torch will light
the inaugural flame to commence the thrilling fire show which will ensue. The fire
breathing ensemble will be led through the streets by a lone piper which will only add to
the thrilling atmosphere in the town with the street lighting blackout.
Throughout the Fadó Festival, locals and visitors alike will be encouraged to dress in the
attire of the period. So, for a truly unique weekend, Bantry is the place to be from 16 –
18th March this year. For further details see www.facebook.com/fadofestivalbantry /

19. Petition To Stop ACTA
The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or
ACTA, was signed by the European Union
and 22 of its member states recently. And it
could ruin the internet as we know it.
To Stop ACTA Today CLICK HERE!
Eight countries, including the United States,
signed this last fall. Called "SOPA light", it is
a global treaty that authorizes the policing
of the inter net and its users, and
ultimately, the censorship of it.
This would hurt the freedom of expression, civil and digital rights, fair use rights, and the
right to privacy.
Strict penalties, including prison sentences, would be enforced for violations of ACTA.
Please sign the petition and tell ACTA supporters to keep the internet free for
everyone!

23. A Manifesto For Ireland: Making The
Case For Sovereignty
by Richard K. Moore
The EU, from the very beginning, has been a project to destroy democracy in Europe,
and replace it with a bankster-controlled central regime. What is happening now is what
was always intended. The collapse-bailout scenario was designed specifically to bring
all EU nations/provinces into debt bondage (a.k.a. sovereign debt) to the banksters.
Germany has been the most difficult target, but it too will fall, as it is dragged into
assuming liability for EU sovereign debt generally. Once that happens, then – whenever
the ‘markets decide’ – the next bubble will burst, including $600 trillion in worthless
derivative instruments. Down will go Germany, EU and all.
The Irish State, via the major party apparatus, has surrendered its loyalty and allegiance
totally to the EU project. Those folks see themselves as players in the Big Game of
Europe, and their duty as ‘bringing us culchies along’ with the program. Agreeing to bail
out the banks was equivalent to signing a treaty, announcing the formal surrender of
sovereignty to the financial elites. Our local IMF overseer is not here as part of a
temporary repayment program, he’s here permanently as our new Imperial Governor,
not from London this time, not even from Brussels, but a personal agent of the bankster
dynasty.
In Italy, and in Spain, we also see Imperial Governors, appointed not elected, installed
as heads of state, and in the case of Italy the fellow comes to us from Goldman Sachs.
The pattern is clear, and Ireland seems to be leading the way in the sovereignty-
surrendering process. That’s why we keep getting pats on the back from the EU. If we
don’t do something to change things, the future of Ireland is certain. I suppose ‘return to
plantation days’ would be a reasonable characterization. Every asset, including our
water, will be owned by foreign investors and corporations.
This process of surrender cannot be stopped by fighting single-issue battles. Our
energies are dissipated, defending one barricade after another, none of which are strong
enough to stop the onslaught. If we want to have any hope of succeeding, we must
focus on the one single issue that is of equal importance to every Irish person: we are
losing our nation; we are being re-colonized. There is no future for us unless we can
regain our sovereignty and install a government that actually represent the people. The
loyalty of the major parties is with the EU, and whoever they put forward represents the
party, not the people. The only way we can get a government that represents us, is if we
select our representatives by some other process.

24. Samba Project For St. Patricks Day
Parade in Ballydehob
Following last years amazing turn out and great success, once again there will be an
opportunity for people to enjoy and join in with the colourful and high energy vibration of
Samba, at the 2012 St. Patricks’ Day Parade in Ballydehob.
On Sunday 11th a workshop will be held in the Community Hall from 11am - 5pm, for
those wishing to come and join in with the parade on Saturday 17th at 12 midday. During
this workshop, participants will learn some simple Samba rhythms on drums and other
percussive instruments traditional to Samba music. Simple song and movement will also
be incorporated, and costumes will be provided. Bring along your lunch to enjoy whilst
taking a break, and please make sure you dress warmly. This project is suitable for 12
years and upwards, and the day will cost €5 for students and €10 for adults. You must
be available for the parade in order to participate; however, there are plans afoot for
more Community Samba Projects to follow during the course of the year, so do get in
touch to be kept informed of events in the future.
