Naut'sa mawt Tribal Council is a not-for-profit society registered in British Columbia.
NmTC provides advisory services to its First Nation members in five areas namely:
Economic Development, Financial Management, Community Planning, Technical
Services and Governance. Our membership includes 11 Coast Salish member Nations.
The Communications Coordinator is involved in all aspects of the development and
implementation of NmTC’s internal and external communication strategies.
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing sound
communications programs that engage both internal and external audiences.
Job Duties:
Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating external and internal
communications strategies that include:
o Annual communications strategy/plan for the organization.
o Communication support for NmTC programs and services.
o Communication policy development.
o Solutions to internal communications challenges.
o Monitoring and evaluation of communications activities.
o Update communications policies such as: Crisis Communications Policy,
Graphic Standards Manual.
Develop written materials including: media releases, Q&A sheets, backgrounders,
brochures, talk sheets, and website copy.
Develop and maintain stakeholders databases.
Build relationships with NmTC member nations and identify opportunities to
engage with members on behalf of the organization.
Daily monitoring of online and traditional news services for information relevant
to NmTC and Member Nations.
Oversight of klahowya.ca and other organizational websites.
Provide guidance and direction to members and external stakeholders as to brand-
relevancy and consistency in communications materials.
Collaborate with staff and members regarding media activities when required.
Establish this position as the lead role for communications needs to the
organization.
Develop and lead member communications workshops.
Organize events put on by NmTC and provide planning advice to members as to
events taking place in their communities.
2. Candidate Requirements:
3 to 5 years experience in the field of communications and/or public relations.
Strong working knowledge of communications principles and practices.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
High level of editorial skills.
Demonstrated skill in project management.
Able to meet tight deadlines and see projects through to completion.
Capable of maintaining confidentiality, with a high degree of accuracy regarding
information collection and recording.
Able to develop and maintain updated stakeholder data.
Able to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and
external stakeholders and audiences and work effectively with all member Nation
administrators and elected officials.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including: Word,
Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience with and understanding of departmental budgeting and tracking.
Proven knowledge and capability with online communications and social media
tools including: Facebook, Twitter, blogging, and website content management
systems.
Experience with Adobe Design Suite an asset.
Salary to be negotiated.
