  • 1. The The Wellesley Middle School Newspaper Locker * Winter 2011 Julian Assange: A Worldwide ‘Wanted’ Poster By Tiger You’ve probably heard his name all over the news. He’s wanted for hacking into US databases and posting confidential documents on his website, the infamous WikiLeaks. Not only that, but he is also wanted for “earlier charges of rape, sexual molestation, and unlawful coercion of two women.” NEWS ACTIVITIES Julian Paul Assange was being interviewed on CNN about the 400,000 pages of STORIES documents released about the Iraq War. During the same interview with CNN in EDITORIALS London, interviewer Atika Shubert asked about his personal legal issues. "This SPORTS interview is about something else," Assange told Shubert. Quoted from The Huffington Post, "I'm going to walk if you're going to contaminate us revealing the deaths of 104,000 people with attacks against my person." He repeatedly threatened Editors: to walk off, and as Shubert persisted, Assange apologized, removed his microphone, Bill and walked off the set. Noor Melanie WikiLeaks was shut down on December 2nd by US-based domain provider DNS.net. Stephanie Sadly, Assange re-opened it on a different Swiss server. You can find it on www.wikileaks.ch or http://213.251.145.96/. He put a banner on the top of the Assistant Editors: home page that looks like this: Molly Athenee Matt Abby Faculty Advisor: Lynne Johnson High School Shooting By Alex Imagine that it’s time for your sixth period class. You go into the classroom and take a seat. The teacher starts playing a movie about the current subject you’re studying. One of your classmates raises his hand and asks if he can go to the bathroom. The teacher lets him, and you get back to the movie. He comes back in with a duffel bag and two handguns. He fires 3 shots, putting a hole in the wall and blasting the movie projector to pieces. “Cell phones in the middle, everyone!” He yells. His own cell phone rings. He snaps it in half. This my seem like the beginning to an action thriller but an incident like this actually did happen in a high school in Marinette, Wisconsin. A gunman, Sam Hengelo, held 23 kids and 1 teacher hostage for over 6 hours. It all started when he asked to go to the bathroom. He came back carrying… …Continued on page 2
