Task 4 Selection of final images &
review
2. Aim of Shoot
The aim of this shoot was to get enough portrait images for me to pick three or
four and edit them for my magazine. I wanted to get as many pictures as I could
so I had a lot of choice when it came to picking the final images for me to edit.
I wanted my portrait images to be quite natural, I prefer this type of image rather
than super posed ones you sometimes see in magazines.
3. Description of shoot
For this shoot I used a Nikon camera
borrowed from college, some of the
images were taken outside and some
were taken in the college
photography room. I didn’t come out
with as many pictures as I wanted but I
did get a good selection for me to
pick from.
I didn’t really have a proper shoot plan
when I went to take these pictures,
which made it a bit difficult but we did
well despite this. I didn’t use a tripod
which might of helped make the
images look a bit steadier.
5. The images on this slide are my final images that I have edited and
chosen to use on my magazine. I chose these images because they
were the ones with the best composition, I thought about the
alignment of the person I was photographing and made sure she was
the main thing your eyes were drawn to. I think that I used the lighting
well on the images.
Final Images
8. The first thing that I did to this image was
change the hue and saturation, hue referring
to the tone of colours. I made the tone slightly
more blue. The saturation is the intensity of
the colour selected and how much grey it
contains. This made the image less bright and
reduced the contrast, I did this because i think
if the image was too bright that it wouldn’t look
professional for my magazine cover.
I then changed the colour balance, I raised
the red and magenta, I also raised the blue
ever so slightly. I think this makes the image
look better as it makes the image warmer
and the model more approachable and
friendly.

9. Rejected Images
These are some images that I rejected, I rejected the first two because the glare
of the light on her face is too much and makes the image look unprofessional. I
rejected the other two also because of the lighting, the images are too dark and
also blurry. I could of improved them if I spent more time getting the focus right
and also spent more time playing with the lighting on the images.
10. Aims for next project
From this shoot I have again learned that when doing something like this it is
really better to have a shoot plan and know what you want to ask the person
you are photographing to do. I think these images were slightly rushed as I
had left it so long before I actually did them, so if I was to do a shoot like this
again I would give myself more time to maybe do a few different shoots and
improve on previous ones.
