I am writing this the day after the 2015 general election and the news that leaders of three of the opposition parties, namely Ed Miliband (Labour), Nick Clegg (LibDems) and Nigel Farage (Ukip), have all resigned. This means the three parties will all be looking for a new leader and their members will get a say, but what if you could choose your leader, who would you choose?

resigned meaning both parties will be looking
for a new leader. Their members will get a say,
but what if you could choose your leader, who

3. What you might look for in a leader
is a deeply personal thing so the list
the follows are the qualities that I
would look for and won’t necessarily
match with your list. So I would
want someone who:

4. Has clarity
A clear goal and vision is, for me, essential but
at the same time it also has to be realistic and
believable. Too often you cannot buy into a
leader’s grand scheme as you really don’t think
that it is possible.
5. Is Personable
I want someone that I feel I can speak to and
have a real conversation with.
6. I admire
I want the individual to be someone that I would
like to emulate, to learn from their successes.
8. Is a team player
Someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves
and get stuck in and not just delegate.
9. Who would I choose?

10. Sir Frank Williams
Founder of the Williams formula one team,
who has all of the qualities listed above and
more. He also overcame a life threatening
accident and came back stronger.
