1. “A successful mentoring programme can make a significant difference to the ability of
young entrepreneurs to succeed in business.”
The Mentoring Specialist Track will have a strong focus on knowledge sharing, exploring
good practice and networking. To this end, the Mentoring Specialist Track will consist of the
following:
i. Technical sessions led by world leading mentoring expert Professor David Clutterbuck
and mentoring subject matter experts John Cull and John Sutherland Wright. Sessions
will focus on mentor and mentee training, mentoring skills, evaluation and the art of
making a successful match
ii. YBI member led presentations covering mentoring successes, challenges and new
mentoring innovations
iii. Sessions to build and strengthen the mentoring community to enable on-going
knowledge and experience sharing
iv. An overview of the YBI mentoring offering to members – what we have accomplished to
date, where we hope to be whilst inviting feedback from members on where we should
focus our efforts
v. Opportunities to meet with organisations external to the network who operate as
specialists in the field of mentoring
By the end of the week it is anticipated that colleagues will have:
 A stronger sense of being part of a global mentoring community
 Developed relationships with fellow mentoring practitioners by sharing experiences
and learning from one another
 An increased awareness about mentoring innovations, challenges and successes
taking place within and external to the network
 Contributed to strategies for improving the process of learning from one another
and identified potential collaboration opportunities

This is an opportunity to learn about your fellow members’ mentoring programmes
including their successes, challenges and innovations. Each member will have 5-12
minutes (dependent on size of mentoring programme) to present aspects of their
mentoring programme including a two minute video. If members do not yet have a
mentoring programme, there is the option to present what ‘after care’ / support ser-
vices / alternatives to mentoring they provide an entrepreneur. After every 4-5
presentations, there will be a short Q&A panel session moderated by John Cull.

This session is a highly practical and interactive workshop, which follows on from YBI’s Mentor Induction Training. It

colleagues will be given practical support and guidance from the trainer to help them gain confidence using these
tools.

Are you facing challenges persuading your young entrepreneurs that mentoring is a good idea? Are they reluc-
tant to have a mentor? Are relationships failing because the mentee’s expectations have not been managed?
This session will discuss the role of the mentee in the mentoring relationship and colleagues are invited to share
their experiences. YBI’s new mentee training workshop will be shared.

A Mentoring Master Class with world leading expert, Professor David Clutterbuck
A mentoring seminar by world leading expert, Professor David Clutterbuck on key areas such as matching, effec-
tive supervision and evaluation.
David Clutterbuck brought the concept of supported mentoring to Europe in the 1980s and is a leading authori-
ty globally in both coaching and mentoring. David has written more than 55 books and is visiting professor at
two universities. He practises what he preaches by taking on a major learning challenge every year.
Specialists from the MEL, OMS and Training Specialists Tracks may join for part or the whole of this session.
