INDIVIDUAL COMMITMENT STATEMENT
As an individual member of my faith and/or faith community, I commit to support the objectives of Arizona Interfaith Power &
Light by 1) encouraging my faith community to become a participating member, and, 2) personally committing to one or more of
the following:
Attend ongoing educational offerings of my faith community regarding renewable energy and the environmental stewardship
that will sustain it. Suggest green‐based speakers and workshops to our faith community.
Conduct an energy audit of my home to identify and correct causes of energy and water waste with energy efficient
improvements designed to optimize usage and contribute to a goal of creating a non‐polluting, sustainable living space.
Install low water, Xeriscape at my home and follow low watering guidelines.
Utilize renewable energy by purchasing green power, installing energy efficient appliances, windows, toilets, solar panels and
lighting, programmable thermostats, rain water collection systems, compost bins or wind turbines or by promoting other
technologies that minimize our carbon footprint on the earth and optimize energy efficiencies.
Purchase and consume eco‐friendly cuisine and bring it to faith community events and potluck gatherings. To optimally
support efforts to address global warming, grow your own, or purchase locally grown, plant‐based produce, which have the
least impact on our environment.
Use environmentally conscious transportation (walking, biking, public, carpooling, fuel efficient vehicles) whenever possible.
Use environmentally friendly household and cleaning products and run appliances during off‐peak hours.
Implement a home recycling program and purchase recycled products, avoiding disposable items such as paper plates cups and
utensils. Dispose of hazardous materials according to guidelines, to minimize the impact to our landfills and ground water.
Support local wildlife and nature by using ecologically acceptable gardening and pest control products. Consider creating a
wildlife habitat in your yard to sustain important pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Support public policies that contribute to the aforementioned goals.
