Who we are
LAMSA (Lebanese Association of Medical Services for Addiction) is a non-profit non-
governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2013 (Registered at the Ministry of Interior and
Municipalities #1249, on the 7/10/2013). We are a multidisciplinary team of health professionals and
volunteers providing individualized support to overcome substances addiction in particular dependency
on nicotine, alcohol and cannabis which are the most frequent addictions.
Our Mission
We are committed to give the patients the optimal treatment and support for addiction, related
mental illnesses as well co-occurring physical health problems, in order to assure for all a safe healthy
life and a social well-being.
Our values are confidentiality, transparency, compassion and quality in our services during the
road to recovery.
Our Vision
Our vision for a healthier generation of the future, the implication of all health care
professionals from all specialties (Hospitals, clinics, Schools…) in mental illness and addiction, by
implementing in their daily practice the systematic screening for risk factors of addiction / psychological
factors, mental illness and so on, in particular in youth and adolescents, in order to prevent by treating
the underlying causes.
Our Services
We provide, on an outpatient basis professional evaluations and psychological treatments.
We also strongly believe in raising awareness to educate the public about the dangers of
substance addiction. Our program will initially target youth groups and other identified susceptible
groups in the local community.
• Medical evaluation for all kinds of addiction: tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs (cannabis, heroin,
cocaine) or prescription drugs, gambling, internet and others.
• Medical and psychotherapeutic treatment and follow-up for people who have a dependency on
nicotine (tobacco), alcohol and cannabis.

• Orientation to in-patient centers that are more specialized when needed
• Individual and family counseling, information and orientation
• Health education and awareness among communities and schools
• Conferences in the clinic (initially) followed by external workshops and partnerships with
municipalities
• Offering CO test to expecting mothers and promoting smoke-free maternity
Our projects
• In partnership with JRS Lebanon (Jesuit refugee services)- Burj Hammoud, we are offering health
care treatment and support, with Psychiatric Medical Doctor, General Practitioner MD,
Pediatrician MD and Social Worker.
We are also organizing to the Syrian refugees’ awareness sessions about addiction, mental
illness, violence, women health and other related topics.
We are for now deploying a lot of efforts to get funds in order to be able to serve all the
community of the region, Lebanese and so on.
• And at the Emergency department at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur (Baabda), and with the
collaboration of APAVE, we implemented on the Tobacco-Free Day (5/31/2015), the project
“ASK and QUIT”, in order to motivate smokers to quit and non-smokers to not begin.
